I am not familiar with his work but Sam Claflin looks like he could be a potential 007.

He looks perfect for Bond one of my top choices definitely My only problem would be his age but still is not so much of a problem, a young Bond has its good and bad side.

The good side : Younger people might become fans of the franchise and especially younger girls.
The Bad side : the age range of The Bond girls could be too limited from 23- 30 years old, with a 40 something actor we can get a Margot Robbie but also Catherine Zeta Jones.

You know? Of all the actors that have been candidates in the past, my biggest regret was not being able to see Clive Owen as Bond in at least one film. In my opinion, he was a missed opportunity.

Never liked the idea of Clive Owen for the role... it all seemed based on his BMW ad or whatever it was. Too wooden, and then that awful monotone voice. Not Bond material.

Whoever it is it prob won't be Hiddleston or Turner anyway. Look for 27-30 year old up and coming British actors doing theatre & tv right now. The next 007 will be found there, not on current talk show sofas…

Well, that's how you feel. There are those who think the otherwise. His "wooden act and awful monotone voice" gave him many awards to win.

He was excellent in 'Children of men' and 'Closer', yes. But that doesn't make him Bond material...

No one thought of Craig being a fit for the Bond material, either. Didn't he prove them all wrong?

To be honest, I haven't seen any sign of a Bondian outcome from Layer Cake. But, previously, before he became Bond, I saw him in Tomb Raider and I liked him there a lot. Still didn't see him as Bond, there. But, I'll be damned if I wasn't fascinated by the visuals of the main title sequence in Casino Royale with him in a fantastically tailored suit and a smoothly delivered machismo on his expressions.

Don't let staged pictures fool you. Owen would have been a terrible choice. The guy is just so dull, bland and boring.

Mate, I've seen him in other films. More than I can count. I liked him then, I like him now.

If you see him dull here, then I'm afraid we've got nothing to commune about regarding the subject.

In my opinion Owen would have performed well. Cavill is undeniably wooden. Owen acts. You know Dalton has a "monotone voice" too.

Exactly what I was going to cite. Owen and Dalton are very much alike.

What about not seing Craig in anything before James Bond?

For me he was a completely new face, one that I didn't like at the beginning but with time he eon me over but its not easy to jump from a classic good looking man like Pierce to a guy like well Daniel.

So more wondering of a name i wonder more for the type and if it will be one of the ones from the media's list or someone completely unexpected.

If they follow the media the way will either go for :

    A) someone like Henry Cavil, Sam Claffin eho is an obviously good lookin man very much a reminder of Pierce Brosnan( thats my preference)
B ) The Craig Type someone like Idris Elba, Tom Hardy or Nikolaj Coster Waldau ( Jimmy Lannister from Game of thrones)
    C) If they want to be slightly bold but still following the media's choices then we could get : Aidan Turner, Tom Hidleston or even Benedict Cumberbatch.

Now the most risky is an unexpected new face but could fit into any of the three molds of the Media's suggestions but an unknown name.

If its A my choice is Clafin since Cavil is now too famous for this.

If its B id choose Jimmy Lannister from Game pf Thrones Of you haven't seen this guy in game of thrones he looks very much like a Young Sean Bean and i could be fine with an actor who looks like him, after all he( Sean Bean) was at some considered for Bond and then the producers liked him more as 006.

If its C i guess id wouldn't go further than just the first film with that new Bond. I don't want a very skinny Bond that either looks geek( Cumberbatch) or creepy ( Aidan Turner, Dan Stevens or Tom Hidleston)

I was never keen on Turner, Cumberbatch or Hiddleston (except for a short period after seeing The Night Manager before going to a full analysis). Then again, that's only my opinion. Those who think otherwise have me outnumbered on the thought.

Owen is an excellent actor and was superb in The International & Croupier. He has a bit of a roguish thing going on which is suitable. I think he could have made a fine Bond in his prime. Watch the tv series Chancer for early potential.

Having said that, I haven't seen the same kind of range from him that I see in Craig, who really surprised me in CR. I didn't think much of him in Tomb Raider and he was average in Layer Cake. In CR & QoS, he blew the doors off the place.

He has been distinctly average since then in my view however, and unlike some of his predecessors, I think he is one of these actors who has to continue to be exceptional in the role, because I don't think he is a natural fit for Bond unlike some of them. He is an actor's actor, and so must be given material worthy of his talents. He was the perfect man for CR, and its continuation story (QoS). That's about it.

I knew you'd say that. I was merely referring to his behaviour and stance, not Clouseau's jocular presence.

I'm sure, if I'm remembering rightly, that Owen ruled himself out and said he had no interest in playing James Bond.

He wasn't approached, unlike the claims the media has made.

Slowly screwing the suppressor into his P-99 and calmly loading the magazine with those bullets did it for me. Followed by the stylish fist-fights and the confident walk towards the screen, reloading his pistol... I thought I was in a James Bond heaven.

An unlikely candidate but he has a certain quality that just says "Bond" to me:

Still not sold on Turner. Although I bet he did indeed meet with someone.

Prefer a British actor. An America can play a Brit BUT Bond is an icon. The actor playing has to "be" Bond. Better that actor be British.
