Daniel Craig says he doesn't want to do another Bond; Spectre may be his last

    I open my daily Digital Trends newsletter, and why they mention 007 I don't know, the story is non tech. But when the headline says 'Craig would rather kill himself than play 007 again,' that really bothers me. Maybe it was said jokingly, he says this at the end of each shoot, taken out of contest, whatever. That quote is now worldwide, oops, too late. "Did I really say that out loud? Sorry Barbara, just a joke." Check your macho Brit attitude at the door, Dan. You get paid a ton of money to play a truly iconic roll, no one held a gun to your head to do it. Saying such a thing with the new movie out in weeks (and yeah, you're tired, blah blah, we all are) only hurts the effort so many people put into it. The now-standard cliche DC "I don't give an F***" pose is tiresome. You don't want to do it, quit. I imagine there'll be a line waiting for the gig.

    To me personally, I actually think he enjoys all these interviews. With some of them he and the interviewer simply took a few beers! And when Daniel Craig is uttering so many "F**K"-words, I think he is doing that with a smile on his face :).

    What I do think however, is the fact that so many people, even EON and Daniel Craig, underestimate at times how insanely big the Bond franchise really is. Tom Cruise (53) has a relatively easy life when it comes down to his "M:I"-franchise. But being Bond is still quite different from being Hunt.

    And I also think that the success of "SkyFall" enhanced the killing media scrutiny even more.

    You're right on the 'F' words. I'm on my final warning here, but to me it's said with a grin. I grew up not far from DC, so perhaps it's something in the water.

    I don't mind Daniel having that attitude so shortly after the shoot. If i had a beer with him and he'd told me this in private, yeah maybe i would have laughed (as it was probably a joke to begin with, taken out of context)
    BUT he said it in an interview, maybe not knowing what will happen, but now this is a thing.
    Every actor lives this, you never hear actors say negative stuff about their movies on promotion campaigns, it might be that they just saw a first draft of the finished movie and though "gosh this is garbage" but then they will tell you in the interview "i had fun doing it" or "i liked the team" whatever.
    there is a reason for that... and it is called 'marketing'. because you are still supposed to sell your art. it hurts him just as much, because i am sure he put his heart into it, but now people will think he phoned it in...
    I am pretty sure we will get some kind of apology in the next couple days.
    and a statement from Craig saying he would like to do less promotion for his movies in the future :D

    Why? For one, Craig told Time Out that it's no fun playing 007.

    "It's a drag," he said. "The best acting is when you're not concerned about the surface. And Bond is the opposite of that. You have to be bothered about how you're looking."

    He also denounced Bond movies in general, saying there isn't much left to conquer.

    "The Bond bank is dry," he said. "If you're asking me what would I do with another Bond movie? I haven't a clue."

    Craig said he would only perhaps change his mind for a hefty sum.

    "If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money," explained the actor.

    He also said he wants nothing to do with who plays Bond next.

    "Look, I don't give a f***," he said. "Good luck to them!"

    He continued and said he would wash his hands of the future of the hit movies.

    "'Oh look, it's Daniel Craig, he's on set again!' No!" he exclaimed of helping to guide the future movies.

    OK. But Daniel, tell us how you really feel.

    You mean like all the other times DC went on a rant about wanting to be done (after SF) and it going global yet here we are? Sit down, take a breath and see the big picture. We know he's contracted for one more. Babs already said he'd be Bond as long as he wants to be. He's been saying this stuff ever since the horrible experience that was making QoS so I'm a little dumbfounded why all of a sudden his attitude after a grueling shoot is such a shock to anyone.

    The media is always going to twist his words around, frankly because they have no interest in him actually coming back. What gets clicks is crap like this and Idris Elba / Next 007 headlines, not "Daniel Craig wants to do more Bond" and at the end of the day, that's all they (the media) care about, not accurately portraying an actor's words.

    The man has every right to complain.     I'd be pissed and annoyed too if despite all that I'm getting questions about who should replace me, especially thirty or forty times a day. You couldn't pay me a million bucks to sit there and listen to people one after another bark around saying "So.....you're old, who's next?"

    Doesn't really matter to me. I still think it's sad that he's talking the way he does aout the franchise. That's that. Without Bond, he wouldn't really be that big of a name. I can't remember who said it but "give it to someone who wants it" if he's so tired of it. He´s starting to loose the respect of many fans.

    Yeah, the fans who have made it clear they never wanted him in the 1st place. Can't believe some nuggets, your read a magazine article and took it as gospel. Some folk need to open their mind when it comes to mainstream media.

    I've loved him since CR yet he managed to loose my respect..

    So you choose to believe this article yet not the several from last week where he had nothing but love and admiration for the franchise - why?

    Yea but Craig damages the BO with reckless ramblings then gonna be hard to finance B25.
