    For everyone who wants Rupert Friend to be Bond, you may be disappointed if the Hitman film does well and ends up making more.

    would make a great Bond and he should be. He has that air of European sophistication.

    Liam Neeson would make a good villian but I guess since Batman Begins he does not do bad guys anymore...

    Matthew Goode with some weight and a more mature look.

    Guy Pearce is a good looking action piece, but I just don't see him as Bond.

    Indris Elba? Like Fassbender he has an air of sophistication and he is a damn good thespian. He can play and "sell" just about any role.

    I think Ioan Gruffudd would have been a good/credible choice as Bond. He has a gentlemanly quality, is good looking in a Bond type way. He's best known for playing Horatio Hornblower in the tv series Hornblower and Reed Richards in two Fantastic Four films.

    He's 42 so not the ideal age to start playing Bond. Too late now, I guess. He would have been 32 has he got the part in Casino Royale. I would have preferred him over Daniel Craig.

    I don't know if he would have made become a great James Bond - it's inevitable that you compare one Bond actor with another - but I believe he would have been good and given the role some refinement. Craig's okay as a blunt Bond - Fleming describe Bond as "a blunt instrument of the state" - but I feel Gruffudd would have invested Bond with a gentlemanly air. I'm sure Gruffudd would be able to do the macho side of Bond too so it would be a rounded performance. I'd prefer Gruffudd over Henry Cavill and Idris Elba and the other names that get mentioned. But a total newcomer for the next Bond would be cool.

    I always thought Gruffudd looked far too pretty to play Bond. And I don't think he is that great of an actor. He is too old now anyway.

    In that above interview he reminds me so much of Dalton, even the pace at which he speaks.

    In Seventh Son he was a bit grimy, and I could see adding a few years to him (as in after Craig leaves) and he'd be ready. Plus he's a good actor (he was also Prince Caspian).

    Thanks. I'll try to check out Seventh Son. I just googled him and Bond and it looks like he's been mentioned by others. So I'm sure he's hit EON's radar.

    Jamie Dornan looks kind of dorky without his stuble in the 50 Shades trailer. I wonder whether that movie will help or hurt his chances.

    This would depend when they will need a new actor for Bond Ben Barnes may be too old then. I have to say I was not too impressed with Barnes as Dorian Gray (but then again the movie was a travesty).

    I think Rupert Friend will be a serious contender for the next Bond. Has the look, isn't popular, but he's known. And from what I read, the producers briefly considered him for Casino Royale, so he was on their radar.
