    Dornan has a thick Irish accent and can do an American one very well so I'm sure him sounding like a well spoken, educated English gent should be a walk in the park for him.

    Why is it that Brits/Irish seem to be so much better at American accents than vice versa? Hugh Laurie, Idris Elba, Matthew Rhys etc.

    Sometimes you can be surprised. Maggie Gyllenhall (sp?) did a superb English accent last year in a Brit show ( name escapes me).

    Yes, Gyllenhall's English accent was almost flawless in 'The Honorable Woman'.

    Come to think of it, Hugo Blick, who wrote & directed both that and 'The Shadow Line' should strongly be considered to co-write and perhaps even direct a Bond-flick, imo, he's a class act.

    Slightly off subject but all this talk about Dornan made me realize his wife Amelia Warner would make a nice Bond girl.

    American accents are 'easier' to learn, as they have less tone difference then British/Irish accents. Same reason why it's harder for Americans to change to a British/Irish accent. The more tone variety you hear when learning the language (as a kid) the easier it is to take on different accents.

    Americans can sometimes do a decent Brit accent. I actually thought Hugh Lauries accent was a bit dodgy.

    The American accent has quite a lot of Irish in it - particularly east coast - so not so hard for Dornan.

    I don't mean really if it's a duff. It's going to be soft porn, so the risk is that he just becomes iredeemibly naff as a result. May be it will be well done but if not and it's a bit embarrassing it could impact his career.

    That's about all he's done (aside from appearances in TV shows and a recent film with Chiwetel Efijor) but he's apparently in the new Star Wars film so his career is really starting to take off now. He's 22 now but by the time Craig leaves he'll be in his late 20s at least.

    All depends what age the producers will be looking for by that point. If Bond 25 is to be Dan's last film and is released in 2017/18, Hiddlestone will only be 37. By the time casting is announced, he'll still be south of 40 so I wouldn't rule him out just yet.
    Tom Cullen is 35-37 in 2020-2022...

    Most notably in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Age 40, so 46-47 by his first outing. Likely too old but a good fit.

    I agree on Jack Davenport - about 15 years ago he could have made an excellent Bond imo. Around the time of the Talented Mr. Ripley
