  • PTS: QOS (One of my favorite chases in the series)
Title Track: TWINE (Very close here, neither are what I'd call brilliant, but I like both)
Title Credits: QOS (Barely edges here)
Main Villain: TWINE (The Elektra/Renard combo and Greene? no contest)
Main Bond Girl: TWINE (2 for the price of one perhaps?)
    Overall Plot: TWINE
Dialogue: TWINE (Brosnan sure can throw some lines out there)
Score: QoS (Honestly I really like the score in this one)
    Settings: QOS
Action: TWINE (All kinds of action in both films, but prefer the diverse action in TWINE)
Humor: TWINE (was there humor in QOS?)
Cinematography: TWINE (this has been discussed, horrible cuts sometimes in QOS)
    Benign Bizarre: TWINE (Renard)
    Suspense: QoS
    Minor Characters: TWINE
    Glamour: TWINE
Ally: TWINE (Zukovsky for the win!!)

12-5 The World is Not Enough
  • Let's get our final entries in, folks. Remember that yours could change the match-up!
  • Looks like we have no final entries. So we reach our final decision, as TWINE runs over QoS by a margin of 231-171-6. Six people had one tie each, which is odd. Anyway, on to our next match, as the two movies edged out by OHMSS collide: From Russia With Love vs. Casino Royale!

    PTS: CR
    Title Track: CR
    Title Credits: CR
    Main Villain: FRWL
    Main Bond Girl: CR
    Overall Plot: FRWL (very close)
Dialogue: FRWL (the train sequence nearly launches CR to victory, but the little finger dialogue kills it)
    Score: FRWL (the original Barry!)
Settings: FRWL (can't beat that Istanbul)
    Action: CR (sorry, train fight)
    Humor: FRWL
    Cinematography: CR
    Benign Bizarre: FRWL
Suspense: FRWL (revenge of the train fight!)
    Minor Characters: CR
Glamour: FRWL (surprisingly close all the same)
Ally: CR (Oh, goodness, one of the closest matches yet, but when in doubt, go with Felix)

From Russia with Love just edges it by a margin of 9-8. Fitting for the 2nd and 3rd best Bonds ever. Fellow MI6-ers, if you could post your scores, and mods, if you could change the thread title, I would be much obliged.

Before I finalize my scores, what are the benign bizarre elements of these two films? Spectre employing people to wear Bond masks and pit them against an assassin in a hedge maze, filming Bond on the job in his hotel suite, LeChiffre's weepy eye etc.?

It's really your own subjective view of what constitutes the "benign bizarre" in either film, but yeah, training assassins in hedge mazes, filming sex for black mail, gypsy girl fights, shoe knives, watch garrotes, SPECTRE's whole plot of framing and murdering Bond, Le Chiffre's bleeding eye, the Body Worlds exhibit, playing Texas Hold 'Em for the fate of the free world, beating a naked man's groin with a knotted rope—all that and more, I'd say constitutes the "benign bizarre."

I thought this would be much closer. FRWL and CR are both very highly rated for me.

Cheers, @Some_Kind_Of_Hero. There's certainly some good examples in either film. I forgot CR's torture scene (for two obvious reasons), but I think FRWL just edges it for this one.

FRWL vs CR- As Connery in FRWL would say- "Thish might take shome time."

PTS: CR (FRWL is great and simple, but CR's kicks derrière)
Title Track: CR (would be a more difficult decision if FRWL's title track was the vocal version by Matt)
Title Credits: CR (close call, I do like the simplicity of the projections on the belly dancer)
Main Villain: FRWL (very close call- counting Klebb as the main villain here)
Main Bond Girl: CR (love Tania, but Vesper gets more to do)
Overall Plot: FRWL (another close call)
Dialogue: FRWL (close call, but there's no 'I have no armour you stripped it' fluff in FRWL)
Score: FRWL (close call- CR was really well done, but I love the music during the Gypsy fight, train montage better)
    Settings: FRWL (close call here)
Action: CR (Bond's fight with Grant almost outdoes all of CR's action combined)
Humour: CR (not as much humour in FRWL as I thought)
Cinematography: CR (angles, b+w footage etc.)
Benign Bizarre: FRWL (Bond masks, sex tapes, gypsy girl fight to the death etc.)
    Suspense: FRWL (PTS, train fight)
Minor Characters: CR (Mollaka, Dimitrios, Carlos, Obanno, White, Solange)
    Glamour: CR (close call)
Ally: FRWL (tough decision, Kerim vs Mathis/Felix)

    FRWL: 8 / CR: 9

A most satisfying outcome between top-tier Bond films.

The epic #1 vs #2 battle

    PTS: CR (2006 B&W over 1963 color)
Title Track: CR (FRWL song one of the very glitches in FRWL)
Title Credits: FRWL (You can never have enough bellies shaking in a MTS)
Main Villain: FRWL (Nash, Klebb...either way. They both could piss blood instead of weeping it.)
Main Bond Girl: CR (Two worthy candidates, but Eva Green has done well after CR)
Overall Plot: FRWL (Both realistic, but SPECTRE kept it simple this one time)
    Dialogue: FRWL (less crude)
    Score: CR (see title track)
Settings: FRWL (CR went to some nice places, but none of them were Istanbul)
Action: CR (The train fight and gypsy compound battle were legendary, but the African Rundown was mind blowing on a whole new level)
Humor: CR (Do I look like I give a damn what you think of my response)
Cinematography: CR (Too much background film in FRWL for my taste)
    Benign Bizarre: FRWL (Gypsy compound)
Suspense: CR (Combined last poker hand and Vesper's suicide)
Minor Characters: FRWL (Best ensembles of all time)
Glamour: CR (The traditional casino glamour works every time)
Ally: FRWL (Mathis was great and all, but anyone who votes against Kerim should be sent to a Turkish prison)

CR defends my #1 rating with a 9-8 victory.

    FRWL - 9
    CR - 8

So many close categories that were toss ups. I'm sure this score would change on a week to week basis. These are two of my top 3 Bond films and though CR I'd put ahead in my own personal rankings, by the elements, I have FRWL by a hair.
