Are there only two people on the forum who have an opinion about the FRWL score? :P

The whole score is awesome. No way for me to pick six moments.

I couldn't do a definitive six, but 007 Takes the Lector is definitely #1. The 007 theme! We need it back!

I have wondered about this, @StirredNotShaken. Can it be brought back? I think a modern version of the 007 Theme could be great but my imagination falls short of conceiving such a modern version. ;-)

The redone version done by the City of Prague philharmonic Orchestra sounds pretty good for a modern film. Pure class with a bigger sound. This isn't the version, but it sounds mighty fantastic.
  • 6. James Bond with Bongos True, it’s the same old James Bond Theme. But this one comes with bongos, for crying out loud. The only thing conceivably cooler would be James Bond with Cowbell.
    5. Girl Trouble Suitably persistent.
    4. Opening Titles Not a big fan of the main theme, but this breezy yet no-nonsense arrangement has my ears anytime.
    3. Stalking Short and moody.
    2. Spectre in Action That eerie, ascending motif. Love it whenever it takes off.
    1. 007 Takes the Lektor Brilliantly quirky yet oddly majestic.

    1. Opening titles medley (specifically that loud opening)
    2. 007 takes the Lektor
    3. Matt Munroe
    4. Gypsy camp
    5. Blofeld to Klebb/Kronstein
    6. Spectre in Action

Too true. But Bill Conti is no Bruce Dickinson, and as long as I don't get an actual track named James Bond with Cowbell I still feel a bit shortchanged ;)

Related to what i said earlier, could they not find someone else to play 009 rather than have Moore play 2 roles
Well, you see, the original plan was to have Roger Moore play all of the roles in the film under the working title "Octopussy Galore". Since Cubby had basically given the middle finger to McClory during the PTS of the previous film, this time it was decided that they were going to outdo CR '67. In that film you had a number of different people playing James Bond so for "OPG" they wanted James Bond to play everyone.

As you can imagine this proved to be difficult. Moore and director John Glen were constantly butting heads about how much skin he should or shouldn't reveal when dressed as the female characters. They came up with the compromise that Sir Roger would just wear the clown suit for all of his "female" scenes. Well, that was fine until Moore insisted on wearing said clown suit for all of Bond's scenes as well. That was too much for Glen and that's when they brought in James Brolin to audition for the role.

Brolin was very excited about getting to play Bond but, wouldn't you know it, he just couldn't get behind this idea that Moore got to play all of the other parts. He started making demands to play other characters. It was just minor characters at first but soon enough he wanted the lead roles as well. Although he made a very convincing Octopussy, Cubby just didn't think he was right for the role of Magda. So that was the end of him.

Eventually the whole plan was scrapped. However, they did keep the scene with Moore playing 009 to save some time and money. I hope that I have helped to clear things up for you!

    Simply brilliant reply there.

6 - Welcome to Miami - this music makes we want to be there.

5 - The Bond Theme as it plays when Bond kicks the guard in the PTS. I love its energy.

4 - Oddjob drives, kills and then further drives Solo from the ranch to the car graveyard. Great musical moment there.

3 - Countdown of the bomb - very dramatic music, a powerful addition to the action on screen.

2 - The music that plays during the laser table scene. I love how it builds tension.

1 - Raid on Fort Knox - simply brilliant!

I can not do 7 shots, I'm afraid....

    Casino Royale

Bruised and battered Bond in the Hotel after his fight with Obanno.
Prowling in his tuxedo in the casino. The walk just screams Bond
Vertigo inducing shots of the crane

    Quantum of Solace

Bond and the villains, Bregenz - the white contrasts superbly with the black of the men's tuxedos.
Bond and Camille in the desert
The blue of the sky and arid, bleak deserts, prior to the final shoot 'em up
The opening shot of the lake

(I must say QoS in a beautiful film)

    Skyfall

The reveal of Istanbul after exiting the hotel where Ronson was shot
The night time shots of Shanghai
Bond and Partice grappling, with the only illumination coming from the shots of the gun
    Entering the Macau Floating Casino
Scotland, driving the DB5 and the ensuing fog.
Sailing to Silva's island on the Chimera.

In fact all of Craig's film are beautiful.
  • For me, when Bond and M got out of the car while onroute to Skyfall in Scotland. Watching it from an IMAX screen, if felt like you were actually there in Scotland.

I can't even list and rank them, so I'll break up tradition and just name my favorites off the top of my head:

    CR:

    - Some of the crane shots when Bond pursues Mollaka.
    - Bond watching Solange on the beach.
    - Bond and Vesper on the train together.
    - The entire casino layout.
    - Bond at the hospital until the end of the film.

    QoS:
    - The opening PTS shots.
    - The rooftop chase.
    - The boat chase.
    - Bregenz/Tosca.
    - Mathis' villa.
    - The fundraiser.
    - The wide desert shots during the finale.
    - Bond meeting Yusef.

    SF:
    - It's Deakins, so just about everything. My favorite is the shot of Bond and M staring off into the Scottish landscape, or watching them drive to Skyfall as the 'Skyfall' track plays. One of my favorite Bond moments.

I think even the most anti-QoS fan will admit that the film is beautiful. With QoS and SF cinematography being so excellent, it makes CR's photography seem positively drab in comparison.
