    1) GF - A classic. Hamilton got it right (for the most part) here. It helped tremendously to have Sean Connery in his prime.

    2) LALD - Entertaining. An enjoyable debut for Moore. Jane Seymour is my favorite Bond girl of all time. It features one of the best ever cast of villains. Has some questionable moments but overall a solid entry.

    3) DAF - Disappointing. A failed attempt to recapture the magic of GF. It has some nice moments but they are too few and far in between. It's best when viewed as a stand alone film. It has the potential to cause extreme irritation if watched directly after OHMSS.

    4) TMWTGG - A mess. Not a whole lot works here for me. Not even the Barry score, which is underwhelming by his standards. It was clearly time to let someone else direct a Bond film. Perhaps Christopher Lee is the only one who comes out of this affair unscathed.

    LALD
    GF

^ It's nearly a tie for me. GF shines as a classic, influential film, but LALD is more consistently entertaining. Also, one of the best/least exciting PTS's in the series here.

    TMWTGG
    DAF

^ Pfft. Really, I don't 'hate' either of these two, but I'm saddened by the fact I have to force myself to watch them come 'marathon leading up to new film' time.

    2. LALD
    3. TMWTGG
    4. DAF
  • 1. Goldfinger. My favorite Bond movie of them all. 1/23
    2. Live and Let Die. A solid Bond adventure. It has its weird moments, but overall a good way to introduce Sir Rog. 17/23
    3. Diamonds are Forever. Connery's weakest by far, and too campy, but it's not entirely without merit. 19/23
    4. The Man With the Golden Gun - My least favorite. 23/23

    4. DAF - Staid, and the final aboard the oil rig is rather tedious.

    3. TMWTGG - Hamilton does all right, apart from the middle third, where both he and the film, lose their way somewhat.

    2. LALD - More consistent pacing than DAF, and a fair few tense scenes to boot.

    1. GF - Hamilton's gold standard.

    7. QOS- "I don't think he smoked/What is this organization, Bond?"
    6. DN- "007, just leave the Beretta."
    5. GE- M: "...you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur. Bond: "Let's just skirt the issue, shall we?" ;)
    4. LTK- "...farewell to arms. This is not a country club 007! LTK revoked."
    3. DAD- "Abandoned station for abandoned agents/Well it seems you've become useful again." (The two Bond-M scenes are most certainly highlights of this film. I love Dench's subtlest of smirks when Bond says the gene therapy clinic no longer exists.)
    2. MR- "So there 'was' a laboratory. You'd better take two weeks' leave of absence. Any thoughts on where you might go?" *wink, wink*
    1. TLD- "008 can replace you/No. Sir. If it has to be done, I'd rather be the one to do it."

My Top 007 excludes SF since they're together so much and talk a LOT (as a collective whole it's Number 1 though) (A quote from each of my favorite scenes):

    DN: "Leave the Beretta."
GF: "What do you know about gold? Not paint, bullion..."
OHMSS: "This department owes her a debt."
LTK: "A farewell to arms, then."
    GE: "Sexist, misogynist dinosaur..."
CR: "Don't ever break into my house again..."
QoS: "I need you back..." "I never left."

    1. "I think you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur"

    2. "But not a Russian Cypher Clerk with a file photo of a British agent - unless she's err...mental" (the back of Sean Connery's head even oozes charisma)

    3. "This department is not concerned with your personal problems"

    4. "Utter one more syllable and I'll have you killed"

    5. "Our paths have crossed over the years, he's tough and resourceful but...I can't believe he's a psychotic"

    6. "This isn't a personal vendetta 007...its an assignment like any other...and if you can't treat it as such coldly and objectively...then 008 can replace you" (that Bernard Lee was pretty good wasn't he?)

    7. "I suppose it's...too late to make a run for it"
  • What movie is number 5 from, @BAIN123? I'm drawing a blank.

    7. Die Another Day. The dramatic high point of one of the worst movies, and one of Brosnan's finest moments.

    6. Quantum of Solace. Just a few brief sentences, but it wraps up the dramatic arc of two films as well as anything.

    5. Goldfinger. Sean Connery shows his anger with just a set of flared nostrils, and Bernard Lee is by-the-book as ever. His standards are high, and he won't tolerate deviation.

    4. Licence to Kill. Robert Brown's finest moment, he gets to define his character, and Dalton's rage is palpable.

    3. The entirety of Skyfall. The whole movie is one long set of Bond/M scenes.

    2. Dr. No, the first scene, and the eternal conflict between Bond and M. The late-night setting is a nice touch, and they make it feel like such a regular part of their relationship, despite it being the first time.

    1. GoldenEye. Dench and Brosnan nail their roles as two powerful, stubborn agents who stand diametrically opposed (as all Bonds and Ms are) and on different sides of history, but still have respect for each other's talents. This scene dominates the movie.

Yeah it's not really a very well known line around here @Soundofthesinners :p

I feel I should include the Dr No exchange but, to be honest, I can't remember enough of the dialogue.

    1) DAF - Refreshing to hear that there's one subject you're not an expert on! (A great and often overlooked moment from a lackluster film.)

    2) GE -If you think for one moment I don't have the balls to send a man out to die, your instincts are dead wrong. (Dench nailed it from day one. What an incredible scene.)

    3) DN - Just leave the Beretta. (What a fantastic introductory scene!)

    4) TLD - I'll recall 008 from Hong Kong. He can do it. He doesn't know Pushkin. He follows orders, not instincts. (Great chemistry between Brown and Dalton)

    5) LALD - I feel very tempted to test that theory right now. (It was great to see M visit James in the middle of the night.)

    6) CR - I'd ask if you could remain emotionally detached but that's not your problem, is it, Bond? (Mommy is trying to make him understand.)

    7) TB - Now that we're all here... (Not really a conversation but I love that moment.)

CR'67 - Joanna Pettet, Dahlia Lavi, Deborah Kerr, Jacqueline Bisset

Where the spies are - David Niven as a spy, Francoise Dorleac as femme fatale

    CR'67 - the theme song:

    or this

True lies - having the spy protecting his identity from his family and when they find out all hell is breaking lose.

OSS 117: Le Caire, nid d'espions - retro works well

Spione (1928) - the inspiration for 007 filmwise?

The Saint - the literary version did influence James Bond and his quips and lightheartedness. Much ascribed to James Bond was created by Leslie Charteris in his books and short stories. The movie bond is far more an combination of Flemings stories and Charteris style of adventure, dress and wicked sense of humor.

    5. 70s

    4. 90s

    3. 80s

    2. 00s - 10s

    1. 60s
  • Done by averaging my Bond rankings:

    5. 70s
    4. 80s
    3. 90s
    2. 00/10s
    1. 60s

60s win by a mile, although if Skyfall is factored out, the 00s actually drop below the 90s. This also fits in well with my Bond rankings (Connery, Craig, Brosnan, Dalton, Moore, Lazenby).
