MAN OF STEEL Running Time Revealed; Zack Snyder Promises References To The DC Universe
Empire Magazine met with Man of Steel director Zack Snyder while he was putting together his final cut of the movie, meaning that they learned roughly how long it will run for. Snyder meanwhile discusses the 3D conversion and referencing the greater DC Universe.

Zack Snyder's Watchmen has received numerous extended editions since its theatrical release in 2009, but according to Empire Magazine's Man of Steel set report, that won't happen with Man of Steel. Rather than imitating Christopher Nolan's butt-numbing The Dark Knight Trilogy with a running time of 160+ minutes, the final cut of Man of Steel will be around two hours and ten minutes and Snyder says that, "The movie is the director's cut." Talk then turned to the arguably controversial decision to convert the movie to 3D. However, the director said that seeing some test footage was enough to convince him that there was no need to shoot in the format. "It is just my humble opinion, but it is better than native now. By the way, we like to think that the 3D is just another way of seeing the movie. It is not Superman 3D, it is Man of Steel, available in 3D." Finally, while he refused to give anything specific away, it certainly sounds as if Man of Steel really is the beginning of a cinematic universe for DC. "I have been making references to the DC Universe, just to let you know that world is out there..." he teased.

2 hours 10 minutes? Perfect running time. Doesn't need an epic running time to be "epic".

MAN OF STEEL: New Image Revealed

A very nice new image of Henry Cavill as Superman from Zack Snyder's upcoming Man Of Steel has been unveiled, featuring the actor posing as the iconic superhero before a very patriotic backdrop.

Henry Cavill Hopes Not To Follow In The Footsteps Of SUPERMAN RETURNS' Brandon Routh

Since appearing in 2006's Superman Returns, Brandon Routh seems to have flown off the radar. Henry Cavill is hoping that the same won't happen to him after this summer's Man of Steel! He also comments on the possibility of playing James Bond

You would have thought that playing Superman would have opened a lot of doors for Brandon Routh. Instead, his career never seemed to really take off after Bryan Singer's ill-fated take on the DC superhero, despite memorable appearances in the likes of Chuck, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. "I certainly haven't got my mind set on failure," he said when asked by Empire Magazine if he's worried "about pulling a Brandon Routh and disappearing" after the release of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. "That is a bad approach - you want to strive for success." As for what he has lined up next, his schedule is clear, but James Bond is still on his mind. "What a wonderful challenge to follow up Daniel Craig. He has set the bar so high." What would you guys like to see Cavill do after Man of Steel? Justice League certainly seems like the most obvious answer, but that really does depend on how Superman's return to the big screen goes in June...

The question is: why wasn't this done in '06? Who thought it was a good idea to do a sequel to a 26 year old film? :-S

I've actually thought about that. I may be wrong but I suspect it had a little to do with Christopher Reeve's death; the whole world pretty much unanimously agreed he was the best and he was in the headlines a lot during that time. I think people wanted a 'sequel' to his movies.

Like I said I could be way off, but that's just the feeling I get.

That's way i like Superman Returns it honors Christopher Reeve's films superbly, which I so much appreciated.Superman Returns is an amazing film which I feel is composed of parts or scenes that would have made the most awesome Superman film but it's main plot and lack of a real threat or villain keep it from being perfect.

Defo going after the pink pound or dollar with Henry lol. A word about Crowe stepping into big shoes, Brando, is a hard act to follow, crowe's voice over for the trailer is goose pimply and sets the tone for what looks like a great fun film.

I'm sorry but I cannot ---muster up the enthusiam you all share for this ...junk. when i asked my friends what he said about the movie..."it stunk".

If i were to grade the producers id say they flunk on this clunker.

well obviously you're not a comicbook fan .This movie is gonna rock !!
superman has always been the class act of the superhero genre. On June 14th we will see why...again. As much as i love batman, Superman is the King!
