I bought the Blu-ray boxset last year, Enterprise is a fantastic series, if Secret Hide Out got the boot I would be happy to see an Archer show.
Would be interesting, though I think they ought to also start developing a traditional episodic flagship Trek series, as SNW will end in 2027. One of the (many) mistakes of launching DISCO first and solo was not having a traditional series concurrent with it. Let Archer’s show do something radically different within the Trek universe as a series while there’s another show carrying the flag that TOS and TNG did.

I don't think much thought was put into the whole debacle, SNW does randomly have a great episode though this era of Trek has not been very good (Picard season 3 i see as separate).

I honestly think people are way more generous towards S3 just for having the cast reunite alone. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t even say it’s been better than all of LDS or SNW.

If I have to explain to you what Season 3 of Picard meant to me you will never understand which is fine, people like different shows with Star Trek in the title.

I get it, I just can’t get past a lot of the questionable creative choices like what they did to Beverly Crusher, more ripping off TWOK, the silly moment with the Enterprise flying like the millennium falcon, shifting away from what seemed like an intriguing Changeling story to the Borg at the last minute with no proper build up. I would have been very open to a Legacy follow up, but they killed off the most interesting character that could have lead that show which made me less interested.
I watched TNG religiously week to week when it originally aired as I know many have on here, Picard season 3 was the finale the TNG film's did not give us.

I have no idea what they were thinking with Picard season 2, it needed wiping from continuity.

Terry Matalas basically pitched S2 as “what if we do Star Trek IV, but with Picard???”

Which I guess could have worked if they didn’t forget to make it fun and lighthearted. Instead we got Picard dealing with mommy issues or some nonsense.

Terry Matalas concept for season 2 was good its just the execution I have issues with, I have bought all of the Picard seasons on Blu-ray, I will rewatch them they are decent overall compared to STD which I will never buy unless I see a season cheap in a bargain bin.

Which Trek shows did you typically enjoy before?

Pretty much all of them, this one just doesn't feel worth it to me whenever I try it. I just can't care about the characters in SNW, it has a more 'bang average US network TV show' feel to it than most of the Trek shows I remember.

Funnily enough I spotted the '09 Star Trek movie on Prime the other night and gave it a whirl as it had been a while, it's still pretty great I think. And then I noticed Picard is back on Prime, I had a little look at one of the more fun episodes, and when you see ST09 and Picard together, it really is noticeable just how bad the effects are in Picard! :D
I mean I noticed it at the time, but you'd think a new TV show might get close to the quality of effects of a 15 year-old movie, however it's nowhere near. I guess I can't be too critical as I know they didn't have a big budget and had a lot of ship shots to do, but they're only just good enough really. Same with SNW, every time I've seen it I've thought the ships look a bit poor.

I'm enjoying SNW, but the episodes are lacking that message and/or the moral decisions that made previous shows so rewarding to watch, particularly TNG. Lots of focus on Spock and his flings here (though I'm not mad at the dance scenes with La'An). M'benga's fight with the Klingon was awesome.
