    Colonel Venus’ First Theorem:

The closer we get to the announcement of Chris Nolan’s next movie (which will likely happen this autumn) without any Bond news, the more likely it will get that Chris Nolan’s next movie and Bond 26 are one and the same.

I call this "Colonel Venus' Law of Creative Anomalies."

I've generalized the theorem. Let D be a film director, and B be the upcoming James Bond movie at any given point in time:

Colonel Venus' Law of Creative Anomalies (Generalized):

The closer we get to the announcement of D's next movie without any Bond news, the more likely it will get that D's next movie and B are one and the same.

    For example, back in 2018:

The closer we get to the announcement of Danny Boyle's next movie without any Bond news, the more likely it will get that Danny Boyle's next movie and B25 are one and the same.

Where B25 is, of course, No Time to Die.

Discussions about nothing happening could have made for an entertaining episode of Seinfeld titled Waiting for Bond 26.

@Benny This is how I came to that conclusion:

The lack of news is getting very unusual. Martin Campbell was first rumoured to direct CR ("Bond 21" back then) in the summer of 2003, only around half a year after the release of DAD. And then he was more strongly rumoured in late 2004, two years after the release of DAD.

We are now two and a half years after the release of NTTD. Either still no director is attached, OR a director is attached and they managed to keep it a secret so far. The latter option gets more likely with each passing day. And few filmmakers are as secretive as Nolan.

    And some food for thought:

Elapsed time between the end of filming of LTK and the announcement of the director of GoldenEye: 5 and a half years

Elapsed time between the end of filming of NTTD and present day: 4 and a half years

It doesn't personally matter to me if we have to wait until 2027 but the fact is its reaching the point now where if November 2026 is the release date, we SHOULD know something very soon. We're running out of time, IF 2026 is the date.

In other news the youtuber has responded and apologised for his faulty prediction.

Well thank the maker for that.
I was getting worried he wouldn’t own up to his error and severe lack of judgement.

Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have announced that they are still tired from No Time to Die and they will wait another year or two to even consider going back to the character.

Part of me thinks it’d be quite funny if, when an official announcement comes along, it’ll just casually be dropped by EoN without any build up or fanfare. No ‘journalists’ claiming they have some scoop, no ‘inside sources’, no guesses by anyone on these forums that something’s going to happen. Just ‘oh yeah, we’ve got a director, story’s done, script’s being written, and we’re starting auditions for Bond’.

Could be the case in all honesty. But who knows. Would be nice to be caught off guard a bit.

I couldn't care less if Bond 26 is delayed to 2027, as long as the movie is spectacular and a inventive, daring fusion of classic bond elements in a modern setting that breathes new life into the series. The most important thing is the movie finds the mark, and succeeds if not financially (that seems very uncertain at the moment) then at least critically, and has strong word of mouth.

It's looking increasingly likely it will be 2027, as we continue to not hear anything as we slide into the summer months. I can assume the usual suspects have found themselves caught up in other projects by now, and won't be directing the next film. If Chris Nolan was directing we would hear something, and it would happen sooner rather than later, same with Villeneuve. These guys aren't waiting around until 2027, they're too busy with their own stuff. I just don't see a writer, director and actor announcement coming in the next 12 - 14 months, which would have to be the case for them to still hit that November 2026 target. Like I said, as long as we get a Bond film for the ages at the end of it, the wait will be worth it.

Yeah we're going to be in another LTK-GE esque gap

The good news is we're already at least 40% completed.

Thanks Nostradamus. Considering you're right about everything else, I'm sure you're bang-on about this too!

I'll mark it in my calendar!

We're not even halfway through the year. I'm not saying an announcement is coming next week but a 2026 release hasn't been ruled out yet.

Not ruled out, but it's becoming less likely with each week that passes.

Nah, they only need 2 years.

At the end of the day none of us really know what’s going on with this film behind the doors of EoN. And none of us ever will.

I really don’t know if it’ll be a 2026 or ‘27 release (maybe even later shock-horror), but we simply don’t have a clear picture at this time.

Well, a lot of actors mentioned around here will be aging out, while others will be aging in or entering the prime age.

Yeah, that's why longer gaps don't mean better movies.

Please stop the doom and gloom, it's bordering on trolling now! We are absolutely NOT running out of time for a 2026 release date. Even if nobody at EON lifted their fingers before January 2025, a late 2026 would still be entirely possible. If you don't believe me, take a look at the production schedules of some previous Bond films.

On an entirely different note, here is a fun fact for the entire MI6 Community: Chris Nolan could be writing the screenplay of Bond 26 this very moment!

Well, in all likelihood a Bond 26 fan fiction script if true…

Kidding of course, Nolan’s likely got better things to do!

My current Bond 26 production timeline prediction:

    1. between the first of September and the end of this year: announcement of the Bond actor, the other Bond 26 actors, the movie title, and the writer-director (Nolan) at a press conference in London

    2. Spring 2025: filming begins

    3. Summer 2026: world premiere

I think it's more likely that an announcement of pre-production will come first, then a director. Then auditions for Bond. That's how they've seemed to do it in the past from what I understand (I mean, they kind of need to officialise the project to get it going/do those auditions. So they would announce it first I guess).

Since I am predicting that Nolan will direct, I am also predicting that Bond 26 will behave like a Chris Nolan film rather than a Bond film when it comes to production, marketing and annoucnements.
