Cavill’s commitment to the Witcher has always been with the caveat that the quality of the show, including writing, remains high.

Anyway, as I said before, I think it's a major bummer that Cavill is not going to get a standalone film again. He's very good in Man Of Steel.

If they're starting from scratch again, I fear it's too late for any sort of major impact to be made. Superhero movies feel like ten-a-penny westerns now, just with massively inflated costs and therefore inflated risks. Standing out is going to be difficult, even for a new Superman.

I see what you mean, but I think of all of them Superman is still the one which may have the clout to rise above; he is the daddy, after all. I think there's something special about Superman, still.
Batman did have that, but I feel like he's been done to death now, sadly.

Time will tell, but even going back to pre-saturation times, Superman Returns wasn't the big hit that it was expected to be. I don't know if the character has that same big screen appeal now that he once had.

I'd like to think there's still something special about Supes, as you do, but I just don't know if there's that same feeling around the world. Now, granted, the same was true of Cavill in the role, but at least there was a decent-sized fanbase in there for him already if they had chosen to continue.

I'll be curious to see what happens and I wish them well with it, all the same.

I agree about Batman, as much as I liked the recent one.

Yes, he was one of the major driving forces in getting it made at all in the first place after all. Whatever about his skills as an actor, one of the things I admire about him is his dedication to the lore of whatever big character he's playing - be it him expressing his gamer nerdy side with The Witcher games, deep diving into Superman comics, or binging The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. Though I can't recall him talking much about Arthur Conan Doyle in advance of Enola Holmes, admittedly.

He's a good dude and very committed to the creative side of things, by the sounds of it. So if he left The Witcher after being one of the main kickstarters, then it must have really not been to his liking.

With everything that's been said by Gunn regarding Reeves and the rumours about him talking with Matt about bringing Pattinson over to the main DCU apparently being false, do we think two Batmans can work?

For myself, I think I'd advise Gunn to build the rest of the DCU without touching Batman or Gotham City, focus on characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman. Make sure you build a good foundation throughout the Justice League and characters that extend from that, and then allow Reeves to continue doing what he wants to do with the character and maybe eventually it'll reach a time where everything is established enough to bring Pattinson in and then give us Justice League.

It means waiting, sure, but I think that's better than trying to rush into another Batman when Reeves is so far building an already successful version of that character. Why step on toes when there's a whole catalogue of characters to work on for the time being? Most people seem to now trust Reeves with Batman, so convince the audience they can trust others with the rest and be patient with the Batverse.

They just need to make a good Superman film, which hasn’t been done since the early 80s. Make it fun, optimistic, colorful and bright. SUPERMAN RETURNS and MAN OF STEEL were way too glum for their own good to be inspiring, too much wallowing in how much of a loner Superman is and how being a savior is a burden rather than a gift. Enough with deconstructing Superman. We already have tons of Superman knock off deconstructions in stuff like THE BOYS with Homelander.

I'd keep Reeves' Batman well away from that side of things, personally. It'd be like having Nolan's Batman in a Justice League film.

On the Marvel side of things, it'd be like having The Punisher in an Avengers movie. The tones just don't gel in live-action, I feel.

So would you say Gunn also needs to create a new Batman? Cause my concern there is the division that will remain that started when the fans were split between Affleck and Pattinson, so throw someone else into the mix... I'm not sure. I could be wrong though.

He might have to, if they're going to nuke it as they seem to be doing.

But that's just conjecture on my part, based on my inability to see how a live-action boy scout Superman would gel with Pattinson's take on The Dark Knight (which is even more grungy and gritty than Nolan's was).

One of the biggest oddities here is how they've managed to make any of the upcoming DC films completely redundant. Shazam and the first Aquaman were perfectly decent (and successful) in their own right. If this universe is to end, why bother with the sequels? I just don't understand why they didn't abandon the team-up thing and go with solo movies, while letting Reeves do his thing.

I get you, the DC space is hella conflicting but honestly I feel if they're patient and really put it in the work, they can make Pattinson's Batman work with a Superman and Justice League eventually because The Batman is so comics accurate in my opinion even with its grungy and grittier tone that I feel it would be a true representation of the comics on the screen to later combine them with the larger DCU, but it all depends on what Gunn does with this Superman film so we'll see.

As for the upcoming slate, I don't know, I guess it's either a kill your darlings situation or gut it while we can and let people enjoy those movies for what they are, rather than think about what they lead to? But to be fair while we seem to have a small idea of what Gunn has planned, there's still time for them to surprise us with everything else.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again about a Superman movie: I hope they learn that people are getting sick of Lex and Zod as villains. Hopefully, DC and WB see this and give us someone new, FROM THE COMICS!!

It does seem strange to start getting fans excited about the next iteration of the DCEU when there are several months to go before these last three films are released. It's like if they had announced the next Bond and started that marketing machine while No Time to Die was still awaiting release. Unless there's only going to be a partial recasting. But if that's the case, Superman and Wonder Woman are pretty peculiar parts to selectively recast.

Yeah her voice is just impossible to listen to. If YouTube had a better caption service I'd watch it with the volume down. Alas, no.

You know it astonishes me how someone as nice and down to earth as Henry Cavill could get axed, while Ezra Miller openly attacks people in public, gets into altercations with Police, gets accused of kidnapping, and charged with burglary, yet still has a chance of continuing the role. I sure as hell hope this isn’t true.

Yeah, I’m not buying that Ezra will return. If James Gunn has a solid plan, it’s best to put an end to the Snyderverse once and for all rather than just prolong the inevitable.
