Talking of gun, maybe Q can give him his own Q created gun, a fictional gun with a striking design and gagets-functions :

Yeah, the PPK is still manufactured and has a couple of variants in ammo specs. There's also a couple of versions of the P99, including a smaller calibre .22 version.

The Walther PPK and PPK/S make sense in a casino or executing spycraft. In assault mode Bond just takes on a bigger handgun, I'm open to possibilities, plus still has the PPK in reserve. At the same time Walther PPS, PPQ, CCP and others are outright ugly creations.

As far as the PPK, when there's a more beautiful weapon available for OO7 to make his own I'll believe it when I see it. With the passage of time it becomes even more unique and special to Bond.

Or maybe there are other possibilities to modernize for today's audience like this (CO2) PPK/S.

@RichardTheBruce Thank for post this. I made few suggestions in Facebook for Bond 25 for him to use a New Walther another Facebook gave me bad say & back lash his comments. It about time Bond use a new Walther Pistol either P99 or the latest models.

I agree that I wouldn't mind another car brand coming in, the slight problem is that I can't think of one which suits Bond better than Aston. Even if they'd never been partnered before I think I'd still put them together now because the style and classiness and power just aligns so perfectly. In Fleming's day he picked Bentley very well, but I think they don't quite match with Bond now as well as AM do; they're a bit brasher.
Maybe one of the higher end Range Rovers perhaps... I can't think of many more.

No love for a Lotus return for Bond Actor #7 in this thread ?

When it comes down to the gun, I think the reason given by Gardner for ditching the PPK makes no sense at all (see the link). I guess there's little to improve on handguns anyway.

Yes, I think they overdid the DB5 a bit. In GE it made a lot of sense, but in TND it had no added value. In CR it did make sense, and I guess the SF-SP workup to NTTD has its purpose. But personally I think it'd have been better to leave the DB5 out of SF. I loved the return of the V8 (not the DBS as stated in the OP) and I love the fact that Madeleine drives it away in the final scenes.
But a new Bond doesn't need the DB5 or the V8. I think it would be better to do a 'Roger Moore' introduction, staying away from Craig's legacy for a bit, before slowly letting it be hinted at during the next few films. It will give the new guy time to carve out his own interpretation of the character.

@CommanderRoss - I'm just curious as to why you say that the reason Gardner gives for Bond changing from the Walther PPK to another handgun in Licence Renewed makes no sense at all? I personally think it was quite a good way of tying in one of the updates Gardner wanted to make to the Bond of the 1980s with the changes that had occurred in the real world since the days of the Fleming Bond novels and Colonel Sun.

I do agree though that the 'Roger Moore' approach of a cleanly wiped slate would be best for the seventh Bond actor to be introduced and developed under.

I posted above that I’d like to see the Lotus return in some form, and I doubt I’m alone in that.
I don’t get some users here saying the Lotus isn’t “high class” enough for Bond when the guy has driven Lotuses before. It worked then and it’d work now, and it sure beats driving the DB5 all the goddamn time, and I actually prefer the DB5 to the Lotus Esprit, but one is ridiculously over-used and the other hasn’t been seen in a Bond film since 1981. It’s past time.

It's not that it's not high class, it's just that that car (the Emira) is their sort of Cayman-level car, and Bond usually gets the top of the line model. It'd be like him driving the current Aston Vantage rather than the DBS.

But I do love that Emira though.

    Walther PPK/S
Here’s the classic that refuses to die. The Walther PPK has been James Bond’s Go-To Gun for decades now. It is most definitely small enough to conceal easily. It shoots very well and doesn’t kick bad either. Equally as important, its accuracy is touted by many.

Another great quality of the PPK/S is its amazing balance due to its metal frame.

Simply put, this classic pistol rocks. And as old as its design is, it still works for today’s Concealed Carrier. It doesn’t hold as many rounds as the new guns and it isn’t as light. It is still a viable concealed carry gun though.

Here’s one more bonus: As of 2019, the PPK and PPK/S are being made in the USA.

PPK is handy, but PPK/S is perfection. I happen to live in the U.S. where they made Walthers. As of now they are moving to a more southernly location....
@ the DB5 thing- please retire the idea & the car. And bring back Bond's 1971 Mustang Mach 1. Just kidding, but I think I've made my point....

Bond should be unstated elegance. An Aston Martin style 4x4 would be just awful. I hate those types of cars. Too big for the roads over here in the uk.

Same goes for the ppk. Once you lose these tropes you lose the heritage of the character

Well you make new heritage. They weren't worrying about that sort of stuff when they put him in the Lotus, which was unlike any car he'd driven before.

    He'd be fine abroad, then?

With the rising cost of fuel, we might see Bond driving an electric car soon anyway! :)

Plus if it's too big for the roads the handy thing is it goes off-road. (And I'm not sure Bond has ever been particularly worried about whether his car is practical!)

007 in an electric car is inevitable as they'll stop making petrol ones soon enough.

In the fully electric department, I offer a wild car(d). The Pininfarina Battista.

    Pininfarina_Battista_1.jpg

It has a $2,000,000 price tag. Doesn’t get much more luxurious.

    Is that enough for you?

I have a feeling we won't see the DB5 again, at least for a while. That car is intrinsically linked to the Craig era, it would look weird to see someone else driving it so soon

As for the other stuff, I think Bond #7 will say, Bond, James Bond, wear a tux and probably order a martini. I'm sure Eon will won't to establish the new guy is Bond, especially if they cast a younger man
I love the DB5 but hopefully they give the new guy a new Aston

The PPK can down a helicopter from a speeding boat on a river at night - beat that, Glock!

As for changing from Aston to another car - please recall Aston Martin is a production partner, and placements do a lot for the Bond film budgets. This does not mean the DB5 must return, but some Aston still seems likely.

I mean, make one especially for the film like they did the DB10. Something with a bit more panelling would be ideal.

Please look up the Lotus C-01 motorcycle (they lent their name and did not actually make it). Been a few years already. Gorgeous. But, again, Aston is a financial partner, so...
