    A blow out for me,

13-4 The Living Daylights. I'm obviously not a huge fan of Thunderball, probably one of my least fav of the series while The Living Daylights, I'd rank quite up there.

    The Living Daylights 17
    Thunderball 0

The only category Thunderball could win is 'Lullaby Value', but otherwise The Living Daylights trumps it. My number 1 Bond film versus a low mid-table at best film? Come on...

Glad to see GE win. It deserved to.

PTS: TLD (TLD is one of the best; jetpack and water cannon hurt TB)
Title Track: TB (TB may be my fav, but TLD is underrated, too)
Title Credits: TB (TB's are superb; TLD's are derivative and unmemorable)
Main Villain: TB (not a strong suit for either film)
Main Bond Girl: TLD (Kara underrated; Domino overrated)
Overall Plot: TB (as another poster said, TLD's plot is convoluted)
Dialogue: TLD (flip a coin here)
Score: TLD (TLD is my 3rd favorite Bond score, and TB may be No. 4)
Settings: TLD (Nassau works well, but Afghanistan is almost as good as SW in OHMSS)
    Action: TLD (fairly easy call)
Humor: TLD (TLD with a fairly big edge)
    Cinematography: TB
Benign Bizarre: TB (the older films usually win this category)
Suspense: TLD (the huge set piece in Afghanistan takes it over the Battle of Miami)
Minor Characters: TLD (Kutze is the only one in TB I rate)
Glamor: TB (a fairly easy call)
Ally: TLD (Nutter is much better than Terry, but Saunders and Shah give TLD the edge)

What about a Henchman category? Necros versus Vargas?

What are some benign bizarre elements in TB or TLD?

The parrot in the background as Necros and another chap fight to the death at Blades.

Much of Barry's scoring in TB.

The Shrublands skullduggery and the fellow with the bandages on his face.

The quick cutaway sequences to marine life in the TB underwater fights.

    The Junkanoo sequence in TB.

    The SPECTRE conference in TB.

Whitaker meeting his Waterloo in TLD.

Necros' balloons and jambox playing Where Has Everybody Gone in TLD.

Those are off of the top of my head. If I watched the films right now, I'm sure I could find much more.

True, but it should still be a category. And I'm primarily to blame because I am the one who originated the concept upon which this thread is based.

Other missing categories:James Bond performance and preferred film on an overall basis. The PTS needs to be dropped for the next round featuring DN, so trade that for one of these if that one is returning.

Doesn't look like there will be any more contributions, so it's time to call this one. After another back and forth match, The Living Daylights prevails over Thunderball 221-202-2. Thanks for another great round, and it's time to start in on two of the most tragic, emotional Bonds, Casino Royale vs. On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

YES. Decided to do something different; an * indicates a film with the best [insert category] in the series.

    PTS: CR*

Both films are pretty equal in quality (they're both crap), so let's see who ends up on top. Just kidding that they're crap. Quite the opposite, in fact.

    PTS: CR
    Title Track: OHMSS

    Main Bond Girl: OHMSS
    Overall Plot: CR
    Dialogue: OHMSS

Action: CR (although Laz's fights/ski scene don't make the decision any easier)
    Humor: CR
    Cinematography: CR (near tie, here)
    Benign Bizarre: OHMSS
    Suspense: CR
    Minor Characters: OHMSS
    Glamour: CR
Ally: CR (Draco is great, but CR has Felix and Mathis)

    OHMSS: 8
    CR: 9

And the outcome is perfectly satisfactory.

Casino Royale and On Her Majesty's Secret Service?!?! Oh my gosh these Bond movies are two of the best. I love them so much could watch every day... Anyways:

PTS: CR (both very unique, but CR's is just too cool)
Title Track: OHMSS (it cannot be beaten; even though You Know My Name is my favorite vocal track in the series, the power of Barry's instrumentals prevails)
Title Credits: CR (have to give it to CR - it was unique and is still fun to watch; credit to the flashbacks of Connery's first five films in OHMSS's credits though)
Main Villain: OHMSS (Telly Savalas is the best Blofeld IMO; Le Chiffre was still solid)
Main Bond Girl: OHMSS (just barely; Teresa and Vesper are my favorite Bond girls)
Overall Plot: CR (close one, but CR has my favorite plot in the whole series)
Dialogue: CR ("That last hand nearly killed me"; I find CR to be more quotable by a bit)
Score: OHMSS (my favorite soundtrack in the series)
Settings: OHMSS (very hard one, but the Swiss Alps was the tiebreaker for me)
Action: CR (OHMSS was the best at its time, but CR's action is simply incredible)
Humor: CR (Both are two of the most serious Bond films, but the humor in CR stands out more to me)
Cinematography: OHMSS (Geez, another really close one, but I'll give OHMSS the edge)
Benign Bizarre: OHMSS (The whole hypnotizing sequences earn OHMSS this one easily)
Suspense: CR (most suspenseful Bond film, many examples highlighted by the poisoning scene; village scene in OHMSS deserves credit though)
Minor Characters: CR (another close one, but Mathis and Felix give CR the win)
Glamour: CR (just epic throughout; the most impressive Bond film to me)
Ally: CR (have to go with 'ol Felix Leiter even though I liked Draco; Jeffrey Wright was my favorite actor to play him)

    Casino Royale = 10
    On Her Majesty's Secret Service = 7

These films are so incredible. Craig is my favorite Bond, and Lazenby is my third favorite. There's so many great things about these two Bond films, and they'll likely always be in my Top 5 (CR #1, OHMSS #3).
