Hey, I just watched my new Blu Ray of DAF & it was an excellent experience. Still one of the better Bonds IMHO. Peerless dialogue.

I agree. The dialogue is excellent and so well delivered by all. I even like the cheesy tv feel it has in places. Definitely one of the 'fun' Bonds, along with OP.

It is pretty great up until the moon buggy, and then still manages to have several classic bits after that.
Mountaineering about the Whyte House? Wrong pussy? Tails between his legs?

A lot of people seem to hate oil rig climax, I rather enjoy it.

I like that too. It's just an all around fun Bond.

It's almost impossible not to like.

"Tiffany my dear. We're showing a little more cheek than usual aren't we? Such nice cheeks, too. If only they were brains."
"Bitch! You're problems are all behind you now."

Classic. They really need to drop this PC BS and get back to what makes Bond great, imho of course.

And the end- she's still fixated on the diamonds... then the closing theme. Awesome.

I see people here constantly putting their "average" films at the bottom. Shouldn t they be in the middle?

So, if it is average as a movie, and not as a Bond movie then I understand.

You seem to enjoy the 70's more than the 80's. Interesting.
  • It was the same for me. The 70's were just fun, wild experiences that defined Bond for me. The 80's was when they started getting a little more serious and that took away some of the fun factor.

I guess that's why i generally prefer the eighties.

The 80s were a little bit less innocent.

For Bond, certainly not for cinema in general. The '70s were much more raw and earthy.
Very true. Bond in the 70's bucked the trend. It was light hearted while other films seemed to be gritty and dark (until SW came along and opened the floodgates to the 80's blockbuster).

80's Bond was still far less intense and gritty in comparison to it's cinema contemporaries, although it certainly was more so in comparison to Bond films from the 70's.

I think it was Jaws that opened the gates to the blockbusters.

True, but that was still 70's style grit & death to an extent. SW started the almost 'pop' equivalent child friendly blockbuster.

    SW killed Jaws.

With TTWTGG, its the most uneven bond film in the franchise. Its has some great moments, but it also has some WTF just happened moments as well. It also lacks the breezy nature which makes me more forgiving of the other Roger outings.

    Oh wow. @Mendes4Lyfe @Creasy47

    Skyfall on spot 24.

Now here comes the shock. In my 2016 ranking Skyfall will fall to the bottom as well. It's currently 21, but only because I was kind of brainwashed into the believe that Skyfall can't be that bad. But yes it can and it is.

But now for something completely...the same...

My OBJECTIVE ranking of the Bond movies.

TOP 10 is pretty definite, not much will change, I consider them "perfect"
    1 FRWL
    2 OHMSS
    3 GF
    4 TSWLM
    5 GE
    6 TLD
    7 DN
    8 CR
    9 LALD
    10 TB

TOP 11 - 16 I consider them flawed but not much, there's only one or two aspects that could/should be better and the order can vary really.
    11 SP
    12 FYEO
    13 YOLT
    14 TND
    15 MR
    16 OP

TOP 17 - 23 Still good but some things are off and should have been avoided.
    17 LTK
    18 DAD
    19 TWINE
    20 SF
    21 QOS
    22 AVTAK
    23 DAF
    24 TMWTGG
