Great top 10. For someone with @Mendes4Lyfe as a username, the Mendes films are quite low! Unless, of course, your surname is Mendes =))

@Birdleson, I'm assuming it's OHMSS. I don't recall you having that rated so highly. I believe I will be moving it up on my list too when I re-rank, but must watch OP, GE & SF first to make sure. My last watch of it went very well and I appreciate it more these days.

I've always had it at 3 or 4, so that isn't it. It is TND, surprisingly.
That is a surprise. So you had it lower than 17 before. I agree with your current placement. That's about where I have it, with SP just below it.

TND has managed to climb up in my rankings over time. Currently #18 on my list, has been as low as my third least favorite.

    18!?!

I've never cared for the film. Saw it the first time fairly early on after discovering the Bond films. Didn't care for it much then and none of the subsequent viewings have done much to make me think otherwise.

    20 Thunderball
    21 Die Another Day
    22 Tomorrow Never Dies
    23 Goldeneye
24 The World Is Not Enough

This is more or less just a list of the order in which I prefer watching a given movie at the moment. So I know FRWL is a great film, but the truth is, I just don't feel like watching it very often.

The top five is pretty much untouchable for me and is most indicative of what I like the most in Bond. But I also love (and miss) the way Bond movies used to be unbelievably weird at times. DAF, TMWTGG, and AVTAK are all incredibly weird movies, for example. I kind of miss that tone....

    Woof, that's harsh! :))

This has probably been discussed to death already, but although I understand very well the issues some have with SP, I can't for the love of my life grasp how anyone could rank at the bottom of the pile! I just don't get it. The plot might not be that great, but is it really worse than some of the other mess we,ve been served in the past? And what's to be criticized about the technical film making?

Although I respect the opinions of most people on here, I have the sense that massive disappointment due to expected potential, and too big an emphasis on one infamous plot twist, affects the verdict of many people more than they are willing to admit.
  • LALD as the worst Moore film? Interesting.

I really did find it one of the most boring the first time. Now the quirky and bizarre moments (bar the Kananga death and some of the boat shtick) make it stand out more.

Seven films into my Bondathon and the rankings currently look like this...

    Present rankings ...

    1. The Spy Who Loved Me.
    2. You Only Live Twice.
    3. Diamonds Are Forever.
    4. Die Another Day.
    5. Tomorrow Never Dies.
    6. A View To A Kill.
    7. Quantum Of Solace.

    Set eyes to stun. :-O

It was the absolute opposite for me. Live And Let Die was an incredibly fun and thrilling adventure back in '73, and it still is for me today. Having seen all the Bonds now, the bizzareness of the film does stand out, but that's what makes it unique in the melting pot of Bond movies. It's obviously a very 70's-era film, but not as much as any of Moore's other 70's flicks.

Don't worry @Birdleson, you aren't the only one. I'm constantly updating my lists as well. I can't help it, its so rare that I end a film with the exact same opinion of it as when I started, if that makes sense.

I think for most people, the top five and bottom five don't move all that much, but everything else is fair game and can fly all over the place. Like for me, I've got TMWTGG right below Casino Royale (between the top and bottom five), which might be nuts, but in any case, how the hell can these two movies be compared? They don't look like they belong in the same series at all, and that happens a lot with Bond. A lot of people don't like Quantum of Solace or Moonraker, but really, how are you going to compare those two movies and say which one is "better" or "worse"? It's like comparing apples and dice.

All I can do with some accuracy, is to place the films in four different tiers. The films within each tier may hop around ever so much, but they never hop from one tier to another.

Today I want to say CR, but another day it might be DN, FRWL, GF, OHMSS, FYEO, SF or SP.
