    TSFS & TUC had the most fantastically beautiful Enterprise photography IMHO.

    The effects were superb for both films, Voyage home because it was earth bound no doubt allowed for greater effects as there were not a great deal of them.

    I always felt they spread themselves thin with the Next Gen movies, too many average effects. Less is more in Trek and less often equates to better, not including Final Frontier

    For me the Genesis trilogy showed the heart of the original Star Trek namely the interaction between the various cast members and their characters. ST next gen was never but a shallow copy of the original series. Their only impressive movie was First Contact which was like TWOK and showed the dark side of Star Fleet, the military side, and was followed by a series of poor movies until the new movies.

    I agree, the USS Enterprise as shown in the motion picture was pure starship porn as rarely seen on the big screen.

    My biggest beef with STII is the editing down of the porn fly-by by Kirk.

    Star Trek III On Bluray. Omg escape from space dock is one of the greatest things I have seen ^:)^ Vivid is understatement, what I have always loved about the starship Enterprise with the original crew is that it was a fully fledged character.

    Just read this on IMDB could be a blessing, Edger Wright is a intriguing choice and from the work I have seen would do something if anything inventive with the next film. Pegg may get a bigger role

    What Star Trek 13 needs is more Karl Urban as Bones. He's been terribly underused! More bones and less Spock and Uhura kissing in the turbolifts. :))

    I don't mind the last 2 trek films as at the very least its keeping trek going, so many elements are repeated in both films

    Other characters do need to come to the fore, totally agree. Wright the more I think about it would be a inspired choice if not too restricted.

    I loved the last two Star Trek films. Yeah they have flaws but so does every other film in the world. :)) I can't wait to see what happens with it. I really want Wright to direct it as Orci has never directed a film before and I feared it would have been a massive disaster with him directing.

    Excellent news. Star Trek's 50th anniversary deserves a real director. Not a writer who politicked his way to the gig and gets into arguments with fans on twitter. It might be a long shot but Brad Bird would make a good choice. He followed JJ Abrams with Mission: Impossible and did a good job with that. He could do the same with Star Trek.

    I wouldn't be crazy about Wright. I have a feeling it've have too much comedy and quirkiness to it.

    Star Trek the Original Series had comedy and quirkiness to it. That's what this reboot needs a touch of. Grittiness and realism can only go so far in Star Trek. perhaps that's what it needs to get it right. I'm tired of the Enterprise fighting a stock villain in a giant ship. The last 4 movies have been like that. Earth is in trouble and the bad guy has a giant ship. Star Trek 13 needs a story without an evil villain. The Enterprise needs to face something it and we the fans have never seen before. To boldly go where no Trek has gone before.

    What worked in the 60s wouldn't necessarily work today. Personally I thought some of the camp in the TOS was cringe-worthy and takes away from the experience rather than giving to it. I'm not saying I want the dead seriousness of TNG but a nice balance would be preferential. This is coming from someone who really enjoyed Abrams' first film.

    Well I'm not saying it has to be a hokey comedy, but what Into Darkness was really lacking was some humor. It was so dark it wasn't Star Trek anymore. The opening 10 minutes of the film were the best. What I would like for the sequel is the Kirk, Spock and Bones trio finally coming together.

    Is anyone else a little miffed about Nimoy and Shatner coming back? They had to bring in Nimoy last time with space Skype for crying out loud.

    I'm a fan of the Original Series films, but something about bringing back Shatner and Nimoy (particularly Nimoy, who will be making his third appearance in these reboots) smells a little desperate to me.
