    Awesome! Martin Sheen plays the part of "full of himself" politician well. One of the best Stephen King adaptations.

    That’s still another excellent choice, with a cool new upcoming 4K Criterion edition next month, too! Add A History of Violence and The Fly and you have my favorites, with Dead Zone at #1. But I do like several of his other movies too!

    Quite a violent movie (this is even a cut version to avoid receiving an X rating in the States, but still rated "18" in UK and NC-17 in the US), but if one goes for this (and I'm afraid I do), it's quite powerful and thrilling. Walken and the other actors are doing a great job.

    The BD extras aren't so impressive. The interview with director Abel Ferrara is nauseating. Never heard a person uttering so many "you know"s, at least two in every completed sentence. And all the others also didn't offer any particular insight into the making of the movie.

    Anyway, lots of carnage, with a touch of social criticism.

    NSFW, but hilarious. Ferrara is obviously a fan of his own movie. And of "Booschemee."

    I bought Coffy (it's spelled without an "e", which is why I didn't find your post for reference initially) a couple of months ago but only watched it tonight. Blaxploitation/popcorn movie of fifty years ago, with cardboard-cutout characters but also much more, uhm, eye candy for us "red-blooded males" than Hollywood would provide now.     Pam Grier, Sid Haig, and Linda Haynes? Definitely adding this one to my Letterboxd Watchlist.

    Foxy Brown is another blaxploitation Pam Grier film to look out for, but if you don't like Coffy, you won't like Foxy Brown. the latter has some uncomfortable scenes to sit through. I watched Sheba, Baby a few weeks ago. I enjoyed that one, less exploitation, and more a PI film, with Grier in the lead role.

    For me, the main difference being that I have (own) a copy of Foxy Brown and will rewatch it after the experience I had with Coffy now. I'm not into Sheba Baby so far.

    I remember feeling sad about that because I knew Quentin Tarantino is a very big fan of hers and was probably crushed to hear the news. She's a really fun and talented performer and I'm only realizing too late how many of her projects I've been missing out on.

    I loved it so much, easily one of Walken's greatest performances and a really sinister and unforgiving tale of crime, revenge, and some sort of redemption. Damn good stuff, thank you to all for the recommendation.

    And yes, brownie points go to Walken's dancing here.

    As advised earlier, I now watched Foxy Brown, though I feel now that I have to retract from the statement of having "re-watched" it. I didn't remember a bit of it, so it seems I have mixed it up, in my memory, with having watched both Shaft and Jackie Brown. I expected her to be a cop or something, but she wasn't. I still enjoyed it, though it is really just as much of a revenge blaxploitation film as Coffy (see my short review above). Either way, worth seeing, if only as a 1970s time piece. Fewer topless women as compared to Coffy, though.

    I love Coffy and Foxy Brown. Another interesting genre film is Cleopatra Jones (and its sequel), although Tamara Dobson is no Pam Grier. ;-)

    The Equalizer 3 (2023)
    Finally got around to seeing it. Really enjoyed it, loved the setting, reminded me of 'The American'.
    Denzel is as charismatic as ever, and the scenes of violence are as gruesome as ever ( maybe more so, or is it that McCall is more relentless) The villains maybe are not given enough background to make their deaths as compelling, and the finale could have been a bit longer ( though its nice that the film doesn't have a 3 hr runtime). Lovely to see Dakota Fanning reunite with Denzel ( but I think their relationship was more affecting in 'Man on Fire') Fuqua does a solid job of directing and overall this was a more satisfying finale than John Wick 4!

    Ah, didn't realise that, I dont think that number 5 would be welcome, by me anyway. And I hope they leave it there with McCall, I want him to have that finish, he deserves it!

    The only thing I've heard on The Equalizer's end is Fuqua wanting to do a prequel with a de-aged Washington, but wasn't sure if that's something he's actively trying to develop or simply some wish list film he was mentioning while doing rounds with the press after the third installment's release.

    Halloween Ends A New Beginning (kind of). I did not rush to watch this because of the negative reviews, to be honest I actually thought it was OK. At least they tried to do something different with this installment, though many aspects of the film did remind me of other horror franchises.

    All the characters in this film are seriously damaged and frankly out of there minds which kind of distracted from gaping plot holes and plausibility. I had fun with the movie and I was not bored.

    I admired their attempts to try something new but I still think the execution was awful and it was a really terrible idea when you're wrapping up a trilogy like this.

    I’ll be doing a full Halloween marathon next month and I’m dreading that one. Thought it was one of the series’ very worst. But I also very much enjoy Kills, so my opinions aren’t the most valid!

    I thought Halloween Ends would have been better suited as the second film for sure rather than a finale.

    The Angriest Man in Brooklyn (2014). Robin Williams' last movie to be released in his lifetime. Certain things DID NOT age well in it. Overall, still enjoyable.

    Child's Play (2019). Enjoyable, in a darkly humorous way. Mark Hamill did Chucky justice with his voice.

    Hopefully, I will be seeing Exorcist 3 this week.
