@chrisisall watched the helicopter scene several times, what 4K does with exceptional films like this is give it a richness which exceeds its already amazing visual quality.

When Supes fly's it looks incredible.

I think you would lose the plot watching this in 4K there are subtle moments that I am in awe with 4K.

    Die Hard with A Vengeance

Honestly this is my favorite of the series and while I get others might prefer 1 or uhm (actually besides this and one is there any in the series that is remotely close to being the fave?) but regardless I love this one. The Revenge Angle, Jeremy Irons, Samuel L Jackson, the plot (which believe it or not was investigated by the real FBI as at the time I think the only difference was the number of Dump Trucks that would be needed to Remove the gold since this film they have updated security or so I have been told.) what is not to love?

The only negative is the graphics of some of the stunts are well laughable bad but beyond that seriously a top notch film.

Up next Die Hard 2 Die Harder

    THE PREDATOR (2018)

    5b3530e5e3af0.jpg?quality=80&w=970

Far from a perfect film but still good popcorn entertainment. I had a good time with this movie. Not great, just good, but definitely good enough.

@DarthDimi Thomas Jane was a riot the entire film, great comedic timing.

Indeed. In fact, I thought the film had really good comedy. So did Predators by the way.

    BLUEBERRY
French-British-Mexican film directed by Jan Kounen and loosely based on the comic series by Charlier and Giraud. Vincent Cassel as Blueberry (cast for his broken nose?).

Michael Madsen as the main villain. He always seems like a carricature of himself in every film. Tcheky Karyo of GE fame also has a small part.

This is like no film that has ever been made before. It is so arty, so abstract, and on further consideration and analysis, so beautiful. Most people will not like this movie, but I think I understood it the way it was intended.

    MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL

Loved it. Still haven't seen ROGUE NATION.

I must say this series seems to get better with each entry. I was quite indifferent to the first film when it came out, but this one was a lot of fun. Same with the most recent.

Nice surprise to see Lea Seydoux in this film. She was great.

    Mission: Impossible (1996)
While it has a smaller scope that the succeeding films, Mission: Impossible is not short of memorable scenes: Ethan's meeting with Kittridge, the CIA break in and of course the TGV climax.

There are instances where the Dutch angle camera really takes out of the movie, though. That’s often a fault with nineties films.

Gotta disagree, there. I think De Palma added a fantastic sense of claustrophobia and entrapment with his shot choices. Can't imagine some of the scenes in the film without it. It is a signature shot of his and it married the tone of the film fairly immaculately, in my opinion.

@JamesBondKenya IMO Willem Dafoe is one of the greatest (& underrated) actors of all time. He has the same huge intensity, charisma and magnetic presence whether he plays a villain (Green Goblin in Spider-Man) or the main protagonist (The Hunter). And his filmography is very eclectic when you see he acted in such films as Mississippi Burning (fantastic chemistry with Gene Hackman), Antichrist, American Psycho, The Boondock Saints, Inside Man, The Florida Project, The Aviator, John Wick, Grand Budapest Hotel, Platoon, Clear & Present Danger and Out of the Furnace.

@DaltonCraig007 yes, one of my favorite actors no doubt. I think that the fact that he looks like a creep helps to elevate his performances. Antichrist was my favorite of his. That films is soemthing else

My only gripe, is Cruise's 1000w smile thing he did a lot back then, he grins at odd moments. At least he has grown out of that.

That is an excellent point. He has indeed grown out of that thankfully, and has become a more appealing actor for me on account of it.

A lot like Clooney and his 90s bobblehead, one might say! ;)

THE LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES

First time I see this. Dreadful, but Cushing as Van Helsing is excellent as always. Would have made a great Blofeld.

@Creasy47 Do let me know what you think, it is a film from which a lengthy discussion can be reaped. Especially since it does something that no films have ever done.

    Watchmen

Some say it's too reverential to the novel, but I think the makers did a wonderful job of bringing such a dense work to the screen.

Performances are all good and the film looks amazing.

Haven't seen it for quite a few years so it was good to re-watch it on my new 4K TV!

I saw this film at a friend's place about a year or two after release - was tired of all the hype regarding it, wanted to see it for myself. I've only seen it the one time, but I got to say, I remember it being incredible, and very well-done by Snyder.

I think it's the best adaptation of the novel we could have hoped for.

Jackie Earle Haley is just outstanding as Rorschach.

This may be helpful here. Tom Cruise fights the “Soap Opera Effect.
I took it off of my TVs; it makes a great looking movie look like a cheap shot on video production.

I'm surprised it's still an option being included or implemented on TV's - does anyone prefer or even enjoy it? It's horrible.

Many regular folk either can't tell the difference, don't know how to turn it off, or simply just get used to it on account of the pricetag of TVs these days.

    Yes to both.
