    1. Gunbarrel at the beginning
    2. Q Moneypenny and M being consistent (same actors, and back to the banter we're used to, like what we saw in Skyfall)
    3. Memorable hum-a-long scores
    4. Henchpeople
    5. Good stunts, minimal CGI (and I would like a fun car chase)

I like the idea of bond watching a F1 race while he´s investigating in monte carlo.
One of the famous pilots is a Quantum agent Bond is watching for.

An opening sequence for the first time in sydney would be also cool, featuring a case including the monorail. (no CGI !)

    1. A memorable strong Villian as henchman with a lot of screentime should be there.
    2. The return of Quantum as replacement for Spectre maybe with Blofeld on top this time.
    3. A truly memorable pompous score trough the film based on the main title.
    4. The gunbarrel at the beginning - please!
    5. A truly classic mission. Pre-title - sth. happens - Bond is called - Ms office - go for the job.
    6. Bond in Snow. His mission could lead him from Monaco to the french, austrian or bavarian alps.
    7. Bond on the oktoberfest in munich ;)
    8. No more DB5 - give him a memorable new car with screentime like in GF.
    9. A Ken Adam kind of set and some exotic locations.
    10. A really threatening plot with a story that leads to a real climax. (Bond investigates!)
    11. No more "its personal" this time - simply a great mission.
    12. No more "we can talk to bond via satellite transmission whereever he is to a knob in his ear" - leave him alone on his mission not knowing where he is in the moment. - no direction finding transmitter in bond.

I don't want the forthcoming Bond movies to pander to tradition-hungry fanboys and start the whole box-ticking nonsense again. Bond films of today are and should continue to strive to be and offer more than the traditional cliches.
However, there are a few Bond elements that can and should be reworked in keeping with modernity and at the same time boasts Bondian hallmarks. I just want this more credible and "mature" approach to continue. To me, the Craig era are exactly the sort if quality Bond movies we should be getting. That being said the Craig era isnt perfect and could do with a few attributed that really hits home. I would like to see:

    A formidable and memorable henchman

No more than 3 geographical primary locations. I want to be immersed and get that feel for atmosphere.

I want a really good love scene too. I'm sorry but I saw the new Twighlight film and for a film that's accessible to all ages, it has a love scene that beats most if not all the love scenes in a Bond film in terms of how far they can go.

Bond and the villain socialising/winding each other up over dinner

Longer and more brutal hand to hand fights

    Bond not wrecking his car

A story that still explores a multidimensional Bond without things getting personal

A femme fatale who Bond sleeps with (we need another Fiona)

I'm still undecided if Arnold should come back. He can definitely give the movies a Bond sounding feel and I enjoyed his work in both CR and QoS but Newman's score was different in that, SF sounded like an actual movie that wasn't afraid to sound noticeably different but still retained key Bond sounds where applicable.

Regarding Bond's brutal fighting style, I don't want it compromised just because he has to be smoothe and suave. Bond can be a poetic, silk incarnate for all I care when it comes to his social skills with the girls and the villain but when it comes to laying the smack down, I want the brutal killer of CR/QoS.

There always will be criticism. Oh and that monorail sequence was done with little CGI, just search for the production pictures. They used the 007-stage for it too I think.

    But:

    1) The GB at the beginning
    2) The 007 theme
    3) David Arnold back
    4) No more of Bond's past
    5) A new car (but still an AM)
    6) Wodka Martini, Shaken Not Stirred (only if it "fits")

  • Why bring in SPECTRE when we have Quantum? Blofeld has had his time.
By that logic, so has James Bond.

  • Why bring in SPECTRE when we have Quantum? Blofeld has had his time.
By that logic, so has James Bond.

Guys, there IS a new timeline. People tend to forget that. The period 1962 - 2002 is closed now. Period.

MI6 started up again. Obviously, the new 'M' (Fiennes) is cutting the budget for MI6 as well, given the fact that MI6 has got new offices now.

And after 007 was re-introduced in 'Casino Royale', even 'Q' and Moneypenny got their own re-introduction in 'Skyfall'.

So it's plain logical to start re-introducing some of the best villains created by Ian Fleming: Blofeld, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Preferably played by Christoph Waltz. And even uncredited for Bond 24 at first....

Concerning QUANTUM? Well, QUANTUM was one hell of a failure no? Who is stupid enough to do a meeting in PUBLIC in an opera house? That's asking for trouble. And Bond caused that trouble, exposing QUANTUM completely.

QUANTUM needs to go secret, go underground, becoming the true antagonist again of MI6. And that's a very good argument to restructure the organization and rename it into SPECTRE.

Moreover, after 'M' (Judi Dench) gave her speech in front of the parliamentary intelligence comittee, we know that Bond in the future will not fight just countries or regimes, but more 'opaque like organizations', varying from an AL QAIDA rip-off to a very structured, effective syndicate like SPECTRE.

  • @ Gustav: I wasn't trying to suggest I think Blofeld (and SPECTRE) could not be successfully re-introduced into the series; quite the opposite, actually, for many of the reasons you mention. For me, suggesting Blofeld has been played out is akin to saying Moriarty or the Joker has been played out. I just don't see it.

A winter themed bond, like OHMSS, but that means they'll have to film next winter which with ore production is maybe ambitious?

What about a tense scene with Bond climbing a frozen waterfall, which inevitably collapses.

My personal preference would be a translation of Colonel Sun, but if that doesn't come to pass, I wouldn't mind seeing a film based on Icebreaker.

I think some of them are quite good. Colonel Sun I find to be an excellent read; Gardner's first three books (License Renewed, For Special Services, and Icebreaker) I thought were all very enjoyable. I thought Deaver's Carte` Blanche was pretty good. I very much enjoy John Pearson's James Bond: The Authorised Biography, too.

    1. Gunbarrel back at the start.
    2. M handing 007 his mission and pretty much staying out of the way until the grand finale, along with Q and Moneypenny.
    3. Bond going undercover and doing more detective work; preferably in a number of exotic locations and especially without any of that ear-piece interaction between HQ. And use the locations a bit more rather than the backlot of Pinewood.
    4. For the sake of originality no female sacrificial lamb this time. Bond getting the girl and saving the day would be a nice change for Craig's Bond.
    5. Start using some of Gardner's titles, except Cold Fall of course.

We got a film perfect as it is. If some haven't got the imagination to embrace what Eon and Mendes are doing then go watch Austin Powers.

Bang on. Why SF is so good is because it is there to challenge not appease fan expectation.

Thanks to Bond fans, EON were on their way to going in a great direction with Dalton and many Bond fans were upset so EON scrapped all the work done and went back to the safe formula in 1995.

If some Bondfans had their "demands" fulfilled, we would get:

    1) A car chase during which Bond passionately kisses a girl named Kissy Quickly. He then throws her out of the car while shooting his opponent's tires. All while he's wearing a tux and ending with Wodka Martini Shaken Not Stirred, followed by the main titles.

    2) A villain that gets blown up by Bond spraying some Martini on him while he says "Bond, James Bond".

    3) A huge underground set that turns out to be Bond's home, full of hot chicks & secret gadget lairs.

They should start with making DC a less of a miserable depressive git of 007, give him a bit more pleasure in life.

Indeed start the movie with the gunbarrel, the reasoning Mendes had was just weird. I presume it is just some arty farty reason that is really not a defese at all.

Keep Newman as a composer or start looking for some new talent to use. Or ask John Williams to do his trick once for the franchise, it would be interesting at least I'd say to have another master of soundtrack doing his magic for this franchise.

Mendes is a fine choice by me, or Campbell. NO hacks like Tarantino.

A movie that is not some personal thing, just a mission with some unexpected surprises in which 007 does his job against all odds.

AND some nice lady that gets to share 007's sheets at the end of it all. Keeping the British end up James.

  • I wouldn't like SPECTRE back. Why bother introducing Quantum if they're just going to ditch them for the old baddies? I'd like Blofeld back but either working solo or with Quantum.

Baically nobody has suggested anything like that though. Pretty much everybody has suggested some good ideas here.

After great deliberation I'm inclined to agree with you. I think it's best to hold off Blofeld for the next Bond after Craig has finished. EON might as well keep their ace up their sleeve for a future reboot.

I would still like Blofeld back, just without SPECTRE. Either have him on his own (ala OHMSS and DAF) or have him as the head of Quantum (which I think there's a 50/50 chance of happening).

To inprove on Skyfall should begin with the Gunbarrel back at the beginning. If not please the same Barrel as QOS with the title of the movie. Old MGM logo back, not realy like this one who moves to you.

The cinematopgrapher should give it more glamor, Skyfall missis some TMND glamor. So i say ask Robert Elswit back if there whant Skyfall with more TMND glamor or Roberto Schaefer if something like QOS. It be based on the locations of course. Mabey also Daniel Kleinman can inprove a litle bit on that, whyle i like the idea of live and die of the maintitle the dragons missing something. Thomas Newman mabey can inprove on that too, get the idea the focus he did on Turkey missing with China.

Some people complane about breath moments in QOS, i think Skyfall should have got more breath moments and more credits of the coutry where there be. Turkey whas oke not to spoil the moment to soon, but i mean more the location of the unknown girl/Enjoy Death moment. From Silva's Island i think it whas unclear too be stil China or not whyle there filming it in Turkey.

With Skyfall i also missing more drama. From Bond 24 with the return of QOS elements iam less woried, i hope there can find a balance between QOS and Skyfall with earlier more QOS then Skyfall.

I partly agree with Saint Mark about pleasure, as i made very clear in my fanart or earlier comments the focus should be on Bond, girls, martin's and gamble, find his soul back and Felix Leiter.

Whyle some cast and crew changed like Q returns 1 movie earlier, for the biggest part i stil stay behind the biggest part of Bond 24 fanarts.
    Judi Dench
already be absent in my Bond 24 and Paul Haggis iam happy he is gone.

    1. A great story
    2. A clever, witty script
    3. M stays in the office
    4. Some joyful, old-school glamorous globetrotting
    5. Clever action sequences that show us Bond's ingenuity and not just his brute force.

This Bond Craig has produced has created two Classic Bond movies that rival anything Connery has done and even topped it in many people's.
You guys bitch and moan even before Skyfall came out simply cause most of you don't like Craig and Eon cause he's not playing by the rules. Who cares if the gunbarrell is not at the begining its like a 15 second thing you have 2 and a half hours left.

Jump on Board or get off and watch the old films cause you won't always get what you want.

Not the case, lahaine, just a few with loud voices ;)
Overall, the film AND DC are very well liked around here.
  • 1.Opening Gun Barrel
    2.Blofeld
    3.Better fist fight's
    4.Better music score
5.Straight forward, get to the point M.

This is pretty ridiculous now. I liked SF as much as anybody but really? Nobody is bashing the film! Yes the film is well liked around here and nobody is saying they don't like it.

So we're not allowed to wish for things to be included in the next one, because everything EON is doing is perfect and it counts as bashing SF? Please.

JamesCraig, doubleoego, tons of people who loved Skyfall have posted on here. Gustav started this thread and he can't stop raving about how brilliant it is!

We're simply saying what we'd like in the next one. But some people won't be happy unless we worship the ground EON, Mendes, Craig and Logan walk on. Nope, lets not have any ideas or wishes, lets not even think about Bond 24 until it's coming out because whatever they come up with will be perfect!!!!

@lahaine Were you on this site when SF was coming out? Next to nobody was moaning. In fact it was the opposite, we had Oscar and Best Bond ever threads started months before it was released. 95% of the site likes Craig, he doesn't get a bad rap on here at all. So stop with the hard done to act.

And about the gunbarrel: It's an iconic opening sequence and I'm not sure why anybody in their right mind would prefer it at the end. Most of the people who said they don't care are just being apologists and if it's back at the start for Bond 24, the same people will be jumping up and down with glee.
  • Tonight I will make an Excel sheet listing of the TOP 5's thus far :-)
  • Bring back ...music composer Thomas Newman
Ugh! No thank you. Skyfall's biggest shortcoming, as far as I'm concerned, is Newman's bland and completely unmemorable score. David Arnold's last two efforts (CR and QOS) were infinitely superior!
