Yeah CavilI's tenure as Super is over.

    No he isnt

When it comes to these matters you've been wrong before in fact you've been wrong Every. Single. Time.

; ) in any case I really like Cavill as Superman and is definitely like to see at least 1 more solo superman film with him in the lead.

No I said Batman v Superman would be brilliant and I was right

He'd be better off out. With Affleck likely done now it seems to be the way it's going. I'd have loved MoS 2 before that happened, but it doesn't look like it's meant to be.

He had potential to be great but unfortunately was cursed with a poison challace. His films were so bad and went against what the character fundamentally stood for, that it makes sense to ditch him and get a new actor. Mass audiences won’t be excited at the prospect of another Superman movie with the guy from BvS and Justice League. WB is wise to scrap this version and start again.

I heard murmurings a few weeks ago which I took which a pinch of salt at the time that there are contract issues. Cavil v Warner may not be over quite yet, one may buckle and Cavil could still be Superman.

I’m not gonna lie, this is a surprise. There’s been a lot of talk about Cavill’s contract negotiations not going very smoothly over the past few months, but I expected someone to buckle eventually. I suppose this may even be a tactic by WB to get Cavill back onboard, but as far as I’m concerned, DC has now lost 2/3 of their trinity.

Personally, I’m still very excited about Shazam, intrigued by Aquaman, and cautiously optimistic of WW84. With that said, it is difficult to maintain much too excitement over these 3 upcoming DCEU films knowing that the universe they exist in continues to fall apart.

I liked him a LOT in JL... but... damage done by then. Even a Joss makeover couldn't save it.
If I were Cavill I think I'd seek greener pastures as well.

If Affleck is out as Batman am I the only one who wants Keaton to return

A site on YouTube proposed that recently I would be all for Keaton returning as Batman. Terminator are doing a Sequel to earlier films as is Robocop and hopefully Peter Weller will return for that.

The new Hollywood trend is wipe bad sequel films from Canon and make new direct sequels to the films that started the franchises in the first place, Halloween is another example.

Edited: Should Michael Keaton return as Batman...

Keaton as Batman in a proper live action adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. Sign me the F up.

I think the same about it all as you. I also think that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs to rest as well, after Avengers Infinity War part 2. There’s only so much bad humor and lame villains that can be taken seriously in the average 2 hour runtime of their films.

I was not the biggest fan of Spiderman Homecoming though a grizzled Keaton stole every scene he was in, I seriously think if he returned as Batman the film would get hell of alot of attention.

I agree, I'm sick to death of Superhero movies in general. Like yay for the comic book fans but aside from a very tiny handful of them, I just don't care for them. They have long outstayed their welcome.

It's a shame because I really like comic books and their source material. I find myself rereading the comic books more than rewatching the movies because their all becoming the same. In particular, the MCU. Even James Bond hasn't release more than one movie in a year!

    1983 says hey remember me.

I would prefer Kingdom Come be the basis for a Keaton Batman film with elements of Batman beyond

Actually I love this idea I would even call the film

    Batman Kingdom Come

No one's forcing you to watch comic book films if it's not your thing or you're not liking the films. They're not going anywhere any time soon.

I sure feel forced when it's at every theater, store and tv screen I seem to lay my eyes upon. It's like I'm John Nada in They Live. =))

If TDKR had been made in the 1990s Clint Eastwood could have been ideal. He was in his 60s.

Michael Keaton in TDKR? Yeah, why not! :)

    What could have been.

Hamm could have been either Wayne or Kent and their alter egos in his sleep imho. It's a shame that he's probably too old for it now that both roles seem to be open. I can't see either Isaac or Gyllenhaal as Wayne frankly.

Yesterday I heard names like Michael B. Jordan as Superman and Ryan Gosling as Batman. They will print anything these days.

Both would be tragic choices for these roles imho.

    Yes, most likely.

I wonder why there isn't any controversy about a black Superman when someone suggests Jordan, like there is when someone suggests Elba for Bond? Is it because Supes is an alien and therefore could be any colour? Probably, I suppose..

Well, unlike for Bond, there have been a number of black Superman during the years, all coming from parallel universes. Like this guys, for example :

    Or this one :

    Or this one :

    SupermanD.jpg

So a black Superman in a movie set on an alternate Earth could be a possibility.

I don't think Michael B. Jordan would be a good fit, to be honest Idris Elba I could see as Superman, he has the stature, size and personality to make it work.

Ryan Gosling would be better as Hal Jordan.
  • I was just about to say the same thing @Thunderfinger
Ryan is great in certain roles, but I don't really see him as Batman. GL sure, or even Barry Allen, if they went with the more classic Police Crime Lab version of him (less like Ezra's version, more like John Wesley Shipp)

Now Jon Hamm, if he's still interested, looks like the Alex Ross Bats come to life!

And I was going to add Barry Allen, @Master_Dahark . Funny how a crimelord and a policeman can think so alike.
