It amazes me. He posts in a thread specifically for hate, yet praises Martin Campbell and takes people up on criticism of the director...in a hate thread.

Yet he posts more of his tedium in an....appreciation thread.

    I think he's a wannabe comedian himself.

@doubleohdad when you're posting negativity in a thread dedicated to the opposite, it may be time to take a step back from the computer. Spend some time with your wife. Ditto if you have kids.

@doubleohdad this is a Roger Moore appreciation thread. If you have nothing positive or nice to say, then I suggest you stay out of this thread.
Your general attitude is a negative one, countless threads derailed. Further negative activity in this thread (and in others that are not of a negative nature) will result in further action being taken.

Me too. One of his best, along with TSWLM & MR imo.

I grew up as a kid watching The Saint, The Persuaders so was
Already a Roger Moore fan when he got Bond. I count myself
Very lucky to have been able to see TSWLM and MR etc in the
Cinema, during what I think of as the second "Golden era" of Bond. :)

Me too. And I'd really only seen Connery in one Bond in the theatre before LALD came out. And LALD was the first Bond I went to see WITHOUT my parents. ;) So, REALLY fond memories connected to it!

Indeed, lucky you. Seeing TSWLM in the cinema on release must have been amazing.

I don't care about all the negative things that have been said about Moore's movies. He's the Bond I got to know after Brosnan, whhose films I grew up with, and to me Moore is a real gentleman and I think he exudes that on screen. I don't care whatever ridiculous situation they put him in, he's so classical, I think it's much better than the unappealing harshness of the Dalton movies that were to follow. The only thing that differed from Moore's movies and all the later ones is that they took away all the pizazz and went for supposed 'seriousness', even though all the Bond movies (with the exception of the Connery ones and Casino Royale) have been sort of hilarious to some extrnt when you really think about it. Well at least in my opinion. I love Moore, and I imagine one of the reasons they kept him on for so long was that he's such a pleasant person to have around and work with.

    *looks askance around the room*

Unless I've misunderstood the situation, this isn't a debate thread. This is a gloriously, unapologetic, good natured, news gathering and cheer-leading thread (although so many in here have dreadful legs and couldn't handle a pom-pom to save their lives). Anything other than that could be classed as being bad form, and - although I hesitate to use the term - rather impolite.

The doorman has probably fallen asleep again. He gets like that after one too many snifters after lunch.

Is there someone at the door? I can't see, through the clouds of cigar smoke.
  • edited January 2015 Posts: 344
Quite frankly I've forgotten where the door is. I always thought that Rog's switch from cigarettes for Bond to cigars was a mixed success. He looked good smoking one from his hang-glider in LALD. I'm not so sure about the Bourbon move though. That didn't really work. I wouldn't order a Bourbon here. The quiche is splendid, though.

The gist of it; he guilty over the Dorothy Squires affair.
  • Really enjoyed that @royale65. Moore can be brutally honest about himself in one-on-one interviews at times. The tongue is never far from the cheek though:

(Acting job as a 'spear carrier' in the background of Antony and Cleopatra)

Q: You were talent spotted. What do you think they saw in you?
RM: I had a very short toga and a very long spear.
