Octopussy. This was the first Bond film I saw in the theater. The Berlin scenes are top-notch, India is exotic and fun for the most part. Vijay is one of Moore's better allies.

I like both films. Both have their strong points and their weaknesses which makes choosing hats for me BUT I'll give my choice to OP simply because Serra's score foe GE IMO was total garbage for the most part. Lack of Bond theme and the horrible made for tv-type end credits music.

Both are great but I'm going for GE on this occasion. Yes it has it's plot holes but it also has Martin Campbell, Eric Serra, a tank chase and my fav Bond girl.

GE is good but Octopussy is pure class, so OP wins!

GoldenEye. Plot is clearer and Brosnan's Bond is realy better then Moore's OP-AVTAK. (Moore 1973-1981 was better). Also, Russia and Onatopp.

Apologies. Well OP was mentioned in a previous match-up against Quantum so there is a link - albeit a slim one.

Both 'top-half' enjoyable movies for me. Both are probably my favourite Bond films for Rog and Brozzer too.

Over all, OP wins this one. Shame about its silly jungle/tennis bits, but they only add up to about a minute in an otherwise superb film.

GE Damn, the past two or three rounds, the movie I picked lost. This one looks like it'll follow suit.

@Agent007391: Yeah, same here. If GoldenEye is about to lose, then I'll just vote however many times it takes to make it win! Hahahahaha.
  • Goldeneye, Brosnan does half a very good film, real qualities on show especially the first half of the movie. Sags a bit in the second half as I usually lose interest once they go to Cuba but for the most part Brosnan gets a thumbs up on his debut performance

Octopussy at times displays some outrageous childish humor and it's embarrassing to view sometimes, Moore does play the role with some tangible belief here and there but for the most part it's hard not to look away, saving grace would be a fine PTS, Louis Jourdan did very well and some exciting, if silly, action sequences

Therefore Goldeneye is victorious this time out

    Octopussy...
  • The current score is 14-7 in favor of Octopussy. Ouch for GE. Im really happy to see Octopussy get some love. It's one that I always loved but thought most people didn't as much.
  • Octopussy

It has a Cold War plot, Moore on form, glamour in abundance, and is just fun from beginning to end.

Thanks for the update! Hopefully we can get some more votes in to let GE win this round! Hahaha, unfortunately that doesn't look like it'll happen.
  • Goldeneye, just barely.

Octopussy kicks butt. Like you I really enjoyed this one. Moore was still on his "game" and the movie scores high marks. I know some folks hated the clown disguise but I did not have a problem with it. The scene in the gorilla suit had me laughing my ass off.

I really like OP too and its close to my top 5 but I have a soft spot for GE so that wins out. Plus it does contain characters that are (arguably) better than OP.

Well, Octopussy beat GoldenEye by a landslide, sadly. Onward to the next round!

A View to a Kill vs. Quantum of Solace

Both are seriously flawed. QoS has the better Bond girl and is more believable, AVTAK the better villains and score. But Craig in his prime vs. an over-the-hill Moore?

    Quantum of Solace.
  • My apologies to Sir Roger and Christopher Walken as I love them both but my vote goes to Quantum of Solace. Craig, as opposed to Moore, is the perfect age and shape to be playing Bond here. Plus the AVTAK plot is basically a re-tread of GF whereas I'll give points to QOS for originality.

Thank god people are voting for Quantum of Solace. Moore should of ended his tenure with octopussy but he didn't.

Plus I can't stand Tanya Roberts only time a bond girl screamed to bond 'don't leave me James" and i yelled back "Leave her LEAVE HER"

    Quantum of solace

    Better Plot
Creepier villain (had Walken played it like he played the villian of The Prophecy he would of won but he was so over the top I just laugh at him Greene has a creepy vibe to him)
Better Bond girl (Oh who am i kidding 22 out of the 23 bond films had beeter girls then A View to A kill heck I can't think of a single girl in that film that is even cute including the extras!)
Song I feel they are tied (I love Duran Duran and Jack White/Alicia Keys most don't like rock with bond I do)
Better Acting (Craig is brilliant in Quantum of Solace)
Better use of the title (Why was the film called A view to a Kill they could of used My enemies Enemy and it would of made much more sense)
Better Music (I loved snow Job but beach boys in a bond film whoever had that idea should of been fired! Plus Night at the Opera is the best song Arnold ever wrote)
Better Director (Marc Forester may have over used the shakey cam but he also gave the film a 60's feel that Glenn couldn't do if he tried)
Better Alies (Rene Mathis and Camille vs annoying people who are thrown into the film)
Better Action The car chase and foot chase are better then ever single action sequence in AVTAK

I could go on and on but why Quantum of Solace wins (it's also my third favourite bond film

    1. Casino royale
    2. from Russia with Love
    3. Quantum of solace
    4. The Living Daylights (if it wasn't for the incredibly annoying Joe Don Baker this would of been number 3)
    5. Licence to Kill
    6. For Your eyes Only
    7. Dr. No
    8. On her majesties Secret Service.
    9. the world Is not enough
    10. Live and let Die

Both of these are in my bottom 3 but I'm picking AVTAK, mainly because of the John Barry score and Cold War-era ambience. Plus, I can more easily discern what's happening in its action scenes. Also, it has more of the traditional "feel" of what I expect from a Bond film even though I'd pick most of the other 007 films over either one of these.
