I like the design on your shirt. Once you've made your car model kit, be sure to post photos of it here too:

Oh yes! Can't wait to see how that one turns out. Or is it for display only?

Got to see CR last Saturday at the cinema, which was extra special since I missed it first time around. Just watched QOS this afternoon on the big screen. Tickets added to the collection:

That's cool. And to think I've only watched one Bond film in theaters.

That Tosca DVD... is the performance close to the film version? I'd thought about buying it at some point. I take it's PAL.

    Curious-looking DVD case too.

I have a couple of CDs with that style case. I'll get back to you on the DVD, it's been a while since I watched it. Don't remember them pulling out handguns though!

In the meantime, third cinema viewing of Skyfall 'done'. Ticket shown with one of Q's two ID tags, this version was on display at the exhibits Lego Creator in Leicester Square and Spyscape in NY.

This arrived today, and I gotta say the cover of DAD in Ukrainian is a vast improvement on the original:

    NFWIS-Front-Cover-600x598.jpeg
‘Not From Where I’m Standing’ is a lovingly put together collection of 20 Bond film themes covered by current and former members of Cinerama and The Wedding Present. 100% of the profits from its sale will be donated to the ‘Campaign Against Living Miserably’ [CALM] charity.

I love the artwork on that cover, it reminds me of the Penguin novels.

I laughed at that signature! Maybe the drink I'm having helped, but still...

Haha, true that. Yes, all Whishaw's Q IDs are just signed 'Q'. Which makes one wonder if his incarnation is, or will officially become Boothroyd.

I wonder if that might be mentioned in NTTD.

And that concludes my Craig era viewings on the big screen...until November?

These are Moneypenny's IDs from Skyfall: At the Bond in Motion exhibit, her SIS one shows her full name, yet the one she wears in the film during her 'new digs' scene with Bond just says 'Eve'. On the right, her Whitehall ID - this one is a new discovery for me, and was displayed at a Paris exhibit.

I don't think we've ever known Q's first name, no matter who's played the part. Even Fleming never gave a first name, did he?

In the Fleming books, is it possible Major Boothroyd only appeared in Dr. No? Yes, and no first name, true.

For the films, there is the non-Eon Never Say Never Again, and Alec McCowen referred to fondly as Algernon/Algy by OO7. Otherwise, no.

Regarding Ben Whishaw's Q, I see him as unique to the times and with no connection to military service. Though I'm enjoying him greatly and a service background is welcome for future incarnations.

And lastly, it wouldn't be wrong to revert to the real world inspiration for the character Geoffrey Boothroyd, who corrected and informed Fleming.

I think that would be a fine name for Wishaw.

I see you're right...in the novel Dr. No, it's just "Major" Boothroyd several times, or "Armourer". I thought Peter Burton did a serviceable job in the film role...good dialogue, anyway, mainly. Fleming is said to have named the character after Geoffrey Boothroyd, a firearms expert who lived in Glasgow. Boothroyd wrote to Fleming in '56 saying he read the Bond novels and liked Bond's character, but didn't think Bond should carry that "damned" Beretta as M put it, thinking it "really a lady's gun". The two men corresponded. Fleming apparently didn't think too much about Bond's gun because he wanted the character to be dull and not interesting (hence naming the character after the ornithologist of the same name) but he appreciated what Boothroyd said. Boothroyd though Bond should carry a revolver, but Fleming preferred a semi-automatic pistol. I agree that was a way better choice for Bond--more sleek and modern. Of course, sales for the Walther really took off.

I also just stumbled on a headline from an old (2015) article from the Telegraph reporting Ben Whishaw said his grandfather was a British spy with a double identity in WWII.

And ironic how Fleming "wanted Bond to be an extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened; I wanted him to be a blunt instrument.." when those first two adjectives are the antithesis of what he's become.

I agree with @=bg= that the full name would suit Whishaw's Q. It might be cool to see a subtle 'Geoff' or 'G.B.' reference in NTTD, but I'm content with him being a different character.

A couple of invitation cards made for the films but not seen on screen: presentation of the new Tiger helicopter at 1pm, and a certain no limits hold-em poker tournament at Casino Royale on July 11.

I love the Tiger invitation! I remember the buzz around the Tiger at the time - I saw it on static display at an air show in 1994 or 1995, and snagged a Tiger-themed sun visor and one of those fuzzy bugs with the google eyes, both long gone alas.

Great to hear you saw the helicopter, that's awesome. You could probably find the visor again for sale somewhere online.

I was at the helicopter demo, but only after some gratuitous sex and violence.

A few Skyfall items new to the collection:

"So, 007... Lots to be done. Are you ready to get back to work?"

Bond's MI6 dossier seen at the end of the film:

Will we ever know what was inside the envelope?

"Get these analyzed. For her eyes only."

Depleted uranium bullet fragments in bio hazard evidence bag. Cost very little to make this.

"I'd like to cash this in, please."

Macau chip - finished this one last weekend. Simple version, but really happy with how it turned out.

@Thunderfinger Thank you, my friend. I'm mainly just trading props with other collectors at the moment, but may consider selling something if there is enough interest.
