    I love the Istanbul locations in FRWL but overall it’s hardly one of the most beautiful looking films in the series. I guess I love the early 60s spy flavor that the film showcases. That’s the film’s strongest point by far! But the cinematography? Honestly it’s no better or worse than GF’s and that one got eliminated many moons ago. Still, it runs circles around QOS cinematography. But what do I know, right?

    I think Grant stalking Bond from the train counts as outstanding cinematography. And I maintain that, whatever you think of the editing, QoS has beautiful cinematography too.

    But none of us know anything at all.

    'Beautiful' cinematography isn't necessarily good or effective cinematography. FRWL isn't as immediately striking as, say, TB or YOLT, but its cinematography does the job, transports you into the onscreen world, and makes you feel what is required from each scene. Generally speaking the quality of things like lighting and camerawork are also a vast improvement on DN.
