    Agree.

The genius of the series is that it reinvents itself with a largely new cast with each film. Spinning off a regular like M, Q, Moneypenny, or even Leiter would probably make the audience wonder where Bond is.

Agree. Plus they would be unnecessary. There were rumors of a Jinx spinoff, a Wai Lin spinoff and a Jaws and Dolly spinoff. Thankfully, none of them happened in reality.

    a Jaws and Dolly spinoff.

I had never heard of that before.

    :(

    It's making me cringe...

How about an epic WW2 film with Bernard Lee as Miles Messervy ?

I don't think it would work, basically becouse Bond films seldom have enough room to let the audience learn about the characters in depth. So, you wouldn't have much to start with. Indeed, the only one that might work is DC007's idea, but working with a dead actor does have its drawbacks.

No offense to the actress, but you could probably just pretend that 90% of Michelle Yeoh's movies are 'Wai Lin movies', lol
But as for the Thesis- I don't see it hurting or helping the Bond movies-- and I think the spin-off would fail miserably. Everyone would miss Bond!!

Agree. The character of James Bond is larger than life and any films starring supporting characters would be a huge step down.

ehh a spin off? ehh no im not for it. but perhaps a mini-series or a official bond film that heavily focuses on Felix Leiter . perhaps bond gets captured, kidnapped or taken hostage and Felix is deeply angered inside and stops at nothing to find Bond. Then mid-way through the story bond manages to break free on his own, leaving Felix to then get captured by the same people then having Bond go back to the terrorist organization base, but this time Navy Seals/ British SAS go with Bond to bust out Felix. It would be called "Tangled Webs". or Intersection 9 or Embassy Lockdown.

Absolutely agree. Who wants to watch a Bond spin-off without Bond?

I've never been one for Bond spoofs or spin offs, I've only ever seen Casino Royale 67 a handful of times and that was enough, it's as far detached from Bond for me as you could imagine, NSNA 1983 was better but that had Barbara Carerra and Basinger and some decent action sequences, but still above all else, not an actual Bond entry

Thesis is right, we need an absolute minimum on damn Bond spin offs from here on in I'm thinking right now

Depends which character the spin-off concerns IMO..... a Jinx spin-off would be pretty damaging.... but how awesome would a Miles Messervy epic WW2 war film with Bernard Lee be ?? :)

    Impossible, his dead.

I would not mind a tv-series adaptation of the Moneypenny books. I would watch it.

I thought it had already been agreed that a JW Pepper spin-off would be a huge success!

I know !!!!!!! It's just an idea of an awesome spin-off !!!!!!! Dimi didn't say in the thesis that you can only use recent characters for spin-offs !!!!!!!!!

It's sort of amusing to pretend he's the same character in Superman II ;)

Well, Tom Mankiewicz did work on the scripts for both films.

Disagree bigtime!!! no tv nonsense! Bond is bigger than that! He is for the silver screen only! [-(

I think some TV series nowadays are more competently made than certain films.

Maybe, but Bond is special and should stay that way.

Agreed, although I wouldn't mind them doing something for Childern in need etc..

Disagree. Just carry on as normal.

    PLEASE NO
    YES ABSOLUTELY!

Why not? I mean, they can continue to make the films being the huge events they are, but why not adapting the books to serials as well? Most of them are pretty short and don't work as full features anyway. Plus a bunch of the stories we never got faithful adaptations anyways: YOLT, LALD, MR, DAF in particular. I would love that if we got more Bond.

T99: I don't know... On one hand, I've like very much the adaptations of the stories the have not yet become movies: The Hildebrand Rarity, The Property of a Lady, even Quantum of Solace. I also would like faithful adaptations to the novels of LALD, MR, YOLT, et cetera. On the other hand, I can't suppose that the TV episodes of Dr No, FRWL, GF, TB, OHMSS, and partially CR could surpass the movies we already have. Another Piz Gloria? A better Auric Goldfinger? Excel FRWL? Grant? Kerim?
So I don't have an answer to the current thesis. As far as I can say, and adaptation of Fleming short stories - very well made - could be a positive thing.

Maybe. Only they need to set them back in the era they were written (1952-1964), not currently.
