I don't envy those who have had to stay in, when I had to self isolate that gave me cabin fever when this all started. Having too much time to think is never good.

I have been taking as many extra hours work as I can to keep active and busy during this crisis. Taking precautions and being vigilant is ingrained into me at this point, though when Café's, Restaurants and Cinema's etc finally re open I won't be rushing to go. I will continue to proceed with Caution for some time yet and will see how this plays out.

I couldn't have said it any better. We're in deep s#it. A month ago, I thought we simply needed to keep to stay-at-home guidelines through May, in order to get a handle on things. But then the crazies came out and Trump played to the 30% of the public against the social distancing.

I hope Trump will eventually be held criminally responsible for this.

I wouldn’t hold your breath. He avoided impeachment once already.
The criminal system doesn’t work that way; the rich will never be prosecuted for anything, and if they are, they won’t be punished.

This is a complex matter. I'll just say two things: (1) The great state of New York has a number of items they'd like to discuss with Mr. Trump once he's no longer receiving his mail in the Oval Office, and (2) I've heard it suggested that Mr. Trump may be passing info on the NY mobs to certain parties in the FBI... and that's why he wasn't accused of various crimes even before he became President. We'll see how it all goes down once it's all gone down...

Agreed. It should be interesting in that case to see what happens when his presidency is over.

Late breaking news: Trump has accused the Obama-era Justice Department of treason (I suppose because they went after Michael Flynn and Roger Stone): https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-latest-doj-obama-fbi-michael-flynn-treason-a9504746.html Now, knowing how greatly projection regarding his own failures figures into his accusations against others.... the post-Trump era does indeed promise to be some interesting times.

    Wait -- what?!

So it's believed that he's an informer for the FBI regarding organized crime? Where has that been floated?

And what about Trump s hair? Huh?

Seriously, what a hairdo! What do people think?

As someone who thinks Trump is a dumbass, the idea that he's an FBI informant is absolutely ludicrous. Might as well rename the thread "American Politics Discussion" at this point.

That’d be a fun TV show idea, the FBI embeds some idiot into organized crime to be an informant that they figure will just get himself killed, and he accidentally ascends to the highest political office in the country. But yeah this thread has derailed a bit lol

It’s a bit tough though because it seems like a lot of the coronavirus news lately is “trump administration bungles coronavirus response” in some form or another.

Swap Trump out for Boris Johnson and you've got every single news broadcast in the UK/Ireland.

I think there was a danger of us getting Kevin O'Leary here, but I don't think that's a possibility anymore, and I doubt he would have been as bad as the others.

It's beyond absurd. It sounds like something Rachel Maddow would drop during one of her broadcasts.

On monday, may the 11th, we'll be able to go out, within some limits : no trips above 100 kilometers, masks mandatory in public transports (train, subways and the like). My favourite comic book store has announced their reopening for that day, but I'll wait a little while to get there and buy all the comics I missed. Well, I'll wait until tuesday.

100 000 meters is safe. 100 001 and the virus may get to you.

Or you may get the virus to someone else. But them's the rules. It's not us to reason why. Anyway, it's highly probable that I won't go on vacation in Britanny this summer, first because I don't know if the trip regulation will be loosened, and b) because I don't know if I'll find lodging in Brest when I get there. I couldn't reserve one in advance before because of the rules for socail distancing, doubt I'll be able to find one now. I'll have to wait and see, I guess.

How about the Walk Street Journal? Think about it: he had a casino in NJ that had to be closed because he "couldn't make a profit" running it. https://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-trump-dealt-with-a-series-of-people-who-had-mob-ties-1472736922 Or maybe Newsweek is more to your liking? Where IS Donald's Roy Cohn anyway? https://www.newsweek.com/2019/01/18/donald-trump-mafia-connections-decades-later-linked-mob-1285771.html Or then we have the well-known fake news of the Washington Post and the simple reality that you can't DO real estate in NYC without some form of acceptance from the mob. https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/trumps-ties-to-an-informant-and-fbi-agent-reveal-his-modes-of-operation/2016/09/16/6e65522e-6f9f-11e6-9705-23e51a2f424d_story.html Please remember that I'm not trying to go into chapter and verse on this topic...just acknowledging that the topic exists and that some people are holding cards they have yet to play.

The Netherlands are slowly unlocking as well well find out what happens next but as long as there is no vaccine the manure is bound to hit the fan again. Murder on the economy indeed not so much for the big cooperation but the small business especially restaurants, bars and such..

Imagine if Craig did a reading of Casino Royale... would be amazing. I'd probably listen to the whole thing.

    Law. If I don't wear a mask in public transportation, I'll have a fine (135 €).

In Belgium you're allowed to practice some 'distance sports', such as golf and tennis. They've made an effort to keep these things as safe as possible, being a golf enthusiast myself we have been told you have to stick to the same person to play with. Naturally you can't hang around after your game and club houses will remain closed.

Monday however shops are reopening and people can expand their bubble with four more people. The government has already announced people will have to be responsible for themselves, as it's impossible to do check-ups. Unfortunately, we all know many still think this is 'just a flu' and won't stick to the rules.

Yes, I've met some of them at work : "Covid-19 has killed less people than the seasonal flu." "People probably died of other causes, and as they tested positive for Covid-19, it was put there as well." and the like. Well, last year, the seasonal flu killed some 8100 people. With Coronavirus, we're at 26 230 dead this year. so more than three times deadler than the flu, then.

And BTW, I just learned that Roy Horn (of Siegfried and Roy fame) passed away from Coronavirus tonight in Las Vegas. All over the world, white tigers are in mourning.

With the small footnote that new infections have been dwindling and that restrictions will be back in place if the infection rate is higher than r=1, meaning a sick person on average infects more than one other person. Compared to the US where the infection rate is hardly slowing, rather than just not increasing that much anymore.

Iran lifted their lockdown on April 18th (3 weeks ago). As of yesterday, their infection rate has gone totally out of control again, with a 50% increase of new infections in the past 24 hours.

If they are any indication of what's to come, we are in for enormous problems across Europe in June.

Of all things wrong about DAD, the title track is the worst part of it, IMO.
