    I had to look, but it appears to be a match for the Vanquish. Down to the bumper and trim contours.

    I agree that's it apparently the Vanquish (of whichever generation). But I still find it ugly in the original picture. Or at least not Aston-like. May be very personal, but still.

    The reason cherished numberplates have such high value in the UK is that every combination has to fit within the existing system of numbers/letters. In 1920s-1940s a lot of short numberplates were first issued and the ones that have remained in circulation are now exchanged for staggeringly high prices.

    Likewise those that spell words (e.g. the late magician Paul Daniels' famous MAG1C plate) have a high value because of their rarity.

    All of which is totally lost in the US where each of the 50 states has its own system and the plates can say almost anything, meaning that no particular combination of letters/numbers has any real value.

    True, in the US it's set up more for expression than anything else. One can possess the state-issued plate if it's not already taken and with the annual fee, but it can't be sold or transferred to another person for profit.
