Avengers: Endgame is on-track to smash the $258 million domestic opening weekend record set by Infinity War last year: the first box office trackings for Endgame are looking at an opening weekend of $282+ million at the US box office.

Meanwhile, Captain Marvel is on-course for a $150+ million domestic opening weekend.

There people review-bombing the movie complaining that the protagonist was female, dropping the movie's score almost two weeks ahead of release.

And they're still at it :

I'll wait for the Bluray Captain Marvel sounds middle tier MCU from the reviews I have listened to, apparently if the audience missed Captain Marvel it won't impact on End Game which is all I needed to hear.

The Morbius solo film has started production. Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), it stars Jared Leto and Matt Smith.

I'm getting the sense of a good but not great film. Going to see it tomorrow though!

Saw Captain Marvel today. Not quite what I was hoping for, although it was a fun ride. I'll probably say it's mid-tier Marvel. Keen to discuss once everyone's seen it.

Does Brie Larson actually smile at all?

My son saw it yesterday and thought it was the weakest Marvel movie yet.

I saw it with my daughters and they simply loved it and too be honest I dd quite enjoy the movie it was not so bloody overstuffed as the recent Avenger or Captain America movies.
Brie Larson is great. The humor is fun and the cat is awesome.

Captain Marvel is one of the most unengaging films I've seen in awhile. Rather than becoming immersed in the story or enthralled with the action, I just stared at the screen as the movie fumbled around for 128 minutes.

I think one of the bigger flaws with this film was the nontraditional origin story structure. There were no traditional scenes early in the film that helped us establish our protagonist's morals and values. We never got that initial baseline to build from. Instead, we’re left to piece together her personality bit by bit as the film sputtered along. Even now, I don’t think I have a strong grasp on the character. She was poorly developed, to put it simply.

As for Brie Larson's performance, it wasn't particularly good, but not as bad as I had feared. Those flat, disinterested facial expressions and line deliveries that we saw in the trailer were still present, but there were enough moments where she was more charismatic. In Larson's defense, I'm more inclined to put the blame on the writing and directing. I think there may be some potential moving forward. Perhaps the Russo bros will have better luck with the character.

One thing Marvel Studios has proven they do well is make solid, entertaining films. Captain Marvel is the exception. This is the first MCU film that I give a resounding thumbs down.

So you personally did not like it, I guess you are a male, I do wager that this movie does very well with the female population. My daughters love anything Marvel and they found this a brilliant movie and they desperately want a Black Widow movie.

@SaintMark I thought Wonder Woman was a great movie, though I am male so does that make my opinion invalid?

Alien and Aliens two of my favourite movies of all time with a female protagonist, what has gender got to do with whether someone liked a movie or not?

your defense is somewhat moot, you like films with women in them so hence you are right. This movie is largely female orientated and the men play the second fiddle or the oppressor, some might be upset about that or just difficult to relate.

The latest of the Marvel movies is indeed female driven and we got Samuel Jackson reprising his Die hard character, he is there for the funny parts so that Larson can be very straightfaced, which I found highly amusing.

Captain Marvel was actually a refreshing movie those Avenger movies which we get one more in less than a month are throwing everything at you including the kitchen-sink, they are bloated with too many characters. I found them truly tiresome to watch.

You complain that CM did not use the expected build up you like and so you have a difficulty relating to the movie. I found a different build up kinda refreshing.

I do prefer the stand alone movies of the Marvel universe over the big ones because they are much more personal. With CM who turns out to have amazing powers I found the personal side of her story really well done. And they did use the gender inequality well picked up. CM is indeed a post #MeToo movie and as a father of daughters I can only applaud that. Plus the movie is fun and entertaining.

How is Wonder Woman anything but a largely female driven film where men are second fiddle or oppressors?

Based on my review alone, I don’t see why you felt it was necessary to bring my sex into the picture. Does me being a male, or the movie having a female lead, make my critiques any less valid? As a male, am I incapable of judging this film fairly?

    @Saintmark you presume alot

So you say, that is your prerogative.

You must have been impressed by the Stan Lee homage the movie opened with.

I do hope we get the same with Bond 25 with Roger.

Just got back from CM. It’s Marvel on autopilot and easily their worst movie since Thor:The Dark World. And I’d take even that over Captain Marvel as Hemsworth is an infinitely more charismatic lead than Larson. Although it’s alittle early for me to say for sure but Captain Marvel is definitely a contender for my least favorite Marvel movie. If not, certainly bottom 3.

I got back from CM too. Maybe it's not Marvel's top movie like Winter Soldier but I like it very much. Younger Nick Fury was fantastic to watch. It was nice to see his "origin" story. Goose was fine too.

Captain Marvel is going towards a $450+ million World-Wide opening weekend, making it the 6th biggest debut in history. This film now has a very good chance of joining the $1 billion club.
