Like Elm Street, it's good but it didn't need to be made and isn't as good as the original.

I don't even need to see it to know that. The original Halloween is the greatest horror film ever in my opinion, that does what it is supposed to do: HORRIFY ME! The entire Halloween series itself is very close to my heart, and I watched them more frequently and at a younger age than Freddy or Jason. Mike has that silent fright about him, and I love how all his victims run away from him, while he walks slowly and still gets them. And most importantly, Halloween and Mike brought in another era of horror, prominently the 80s. Without Mike there would be no Jason or Freddy, and that is why he will always be the best.

I prefer Freddy (The original Nightmare on Elm street is one of my favourite films, definetly my favourite horror film), but yeah Mike sort of started the whole era that gave us Elm Street and Friday, so like you said, no Mike, no Jason or Freddy.

Last film I bought on DVD was The Debt. I will more than likely be purchasing Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo though as well.

Well worth the money for the Fonz.

That season contains what is probably my favorite episode, the one about the 1956 election.

This 1949 version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel is hard to find. I wonder if Paramount suppressed its availability in favor of the more lavish 1974 remake. Bond connection: it was produced and co-written by Bond series vet Richard Maibaum.

    I just ordered:

    Mission Impossible on Blu-Ray
    Mission Impossible II on Blu-Ray
    Mission Impossible III on Blu-Ray
    Mission Impossible IV on Blu-Ray
    The American on Blu-Ray
    Heat on Blu-Ray

    I'm about to get:
    Jurassic Park Trilogy on Blu-Ray
    Fast Five on Blu-Ray

    And I want to get:
Nolan's Batman Trilogy on Blu-Ray whenever it may be released this fall.

Still debating the James Bond Collection on Blu-Ray.

You're in for some heavy enjoyment. M:I-2 is one of my favorite action films, Heat is one of my favorite bank heist films, and The American was a great, somber drama thriller.

Do let me know how M:I-GP looks on blu-ray. Saw it in theaters, really don't recall how much I liked it, so I don't want to rush out and purchase it, only to regret it.

Mi2 has grown quite a bit on me. Heat is so amazing there are no words, and The American is more the espionage film I like. It'd be good to see Bond slow it down a bit in a future installment.

And MIGP was amazing in IMAX, so I'm sure blu-ray will be fantastic. If you purchase it from Best Buy (if you live in the states) you get an extra hour of special features, so I naturally went with that choice. The main blu-ray (non-exclusive) already has over 3 hours! Oh and fun fact: Michael Giacchino, the man who scored the last two MI films, has a brother who just-so-happens to have shot the behind the scenes. /endfunfact

@JWESTBROOK, very interesting! As for Heat, it was definitely incredible, which naturally got me excited for Righteous Kill - the repairing of De Niro and Pacino - but it was such a joke. Heat, on the other hand, is such an excellent film that I seem to find cheaper than $10 everywhere I look. I would recommend that to anyone who has not seen it.

Picked up the beautiful steel book edition at Wal-Mart for $7.88 tonight. Totally worth the purchase, I've always found the RE films to be entertaining enough for a watch every now and then. I have so many amazing blu-rays that I need to sit down and watch this summer.

    Major D Smythe,

You might find this last one I purchased interesting:

    39steps60poster.jpg

It's from the director and producer who later made Deadlier Than The Male.
