"The Wrath of Khan" is great but I was let down when I saw it, possibly because it was built up so much for me over the years. When I finally got around to watching it, it didn't live up to my expectations. Now that I've finally seen it I want to go back and watch it again to see if I'll enjoy it more the second time around.

I know how you feel: I get excited for something, finally get around to watching it, and sometimes, I'm just not impressed/hate the final product, and then I return to it later on and seem to really enjoy and love it. Cases in point for me relatively recently: 'Jack Reacher' and 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.'

I hope that happens with The Wolverine for me. I really wanted to like it, even claim it as a favorite but it was, as you said, not love nor hate.
I suspect in a second watch one can appreciate a movie for what it is and not for what one expects it to be. Nevertheless, in some cases there's nothing much to do...

@Creasy47 before you watch Wrath of Khan you have to see the Star Trek TOS Episode "Space Seed" First. ;)
  • Star Trek into darkness, Source Code, Three Kingdoms on Bluray.

American pie reunion, Woman in black, lockout, Ghost protocol special edition on Dvd.

@0013, I do think some scenes stand out more or some scenes aren't as bad the second time around when it comes to a film you didn't care for in a first viewing. I thought the fight sequences were dull and atrocious in 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,' but then when it was released, it was only $12 on blu-ray, so I just snagged it up, re-watched it, and was blown away. Couldn't believe I had such ill feelings towards it in theaters.

    @Murdock, will do. ;)

Like many of you, Star Trek Into Darkness. I haven't dropped $20 on a movie since Skyfall (but of course), but STID was my favorite summer movie so I couldn't resist.

I'm also on the lookout for some of the older Star Trek films on blu-ray, but I have a gut feeling that we're going to get a double dip soon. (Star Trek's 50th anniversary is in 2016...maybe not that soon, but yeah.) One can only hope for the director's edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture on blu-ray! If that is released in a pack with all the other TOS films, I'd snag it up.

Last DVD (yes, DVD, partially because it was so cheap) that I bought was the Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece Strangers on a Train, a fantastic movie.

I got 'The Ultimate Matrix Collection' in the mail on blu-ray yesterday, and 'Ronin' on blu-ray this morning. The shipping was very fast.

@MajorDSmythe, 'Halloween II' = the absolutely fantastic original sequel, or the horrendous remake sequel?

As far as I am concerned, there is only one Halloween 2, and that was released in 1981.

Music to my ears. Excellent news. I can't really think of a better back-to-back film watching experience than watching Jamie Lee piece things together in 'Halloween,' and then seeing her fight off Michael again in 'Halloween II.' It's perfect.

I would go out on a limb and say that I prefer it over the original film. I especially love Loomis' speech about Samhain/the Druids.

I'll probably watch Star Trek Into Darkness (and the first film before it), but only for Benedict Cumberbatch, as I don't care much for science fiction. I could listen to that man read a phone book.

Is that the one with Michael York and Elke Sommer, Major?

As for me, I just purchase one of my favorite early Frank Capra films:

I remember seeing a few scenes of it on TV when I was a kid. It looked intriguing. Can you post a review whenever you watch it?

Picked up 'Behind Enemy Lines' tonight at Best Buy for $5 on blu-ray.

Fun fact: the main sniper villain in that movie was a big inspiration for GTA IV's Nico. Just look at his outfit and you'll see why.

I own all the Ultimate Edition DVDs, so I didn't get the Blu Ray boxset. But I decided buying my favourites wouldn't hurt, so I bought The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill on Blu Ray. It's a shame though that the box art for LTK (my favourite), is so awful.

Also just bought all of the Fleming short stories for just over £1 online. Probably should've bought them new but I've just recently bought FIFA, GTA and now the Dalton films so I thought spending a bit less couldn't hurt, says they're in pretty good condition anyway. And if not, I've wasted hardly anything.

That's basically what I did. I have all the Connery on Blu-ray, and will get the rest of the Craig films on the format that I need, then call it a day for a long while. Those are my go to films, so it makes no sense to shell out a lot of money for a huge set of all 23, many of which I won't watch in a while.

Bought this a few weeks back. Didn't get a chance to see it in theaters so I took a risk in buying it; I wasn't disappointed.

Remains of The Day Blu ray.

Easily one of Hopkins best performances alongside a superb Emma Thompson.
Great support from James Fox, Peter Vaughn and the late Christopher Reeve, just a sublimely brilliant film.
