Pre-ordered Spider-Man: No Way Home (haven t seen it), and decided to upgrade my Kubrick collection with

    Lolita
    2001-A Space Odyssey
    A Clockwork Orange
    Barry Lyndon
    The Shining
    Full Metal Jacket
    Eyes Wide Shut

I was originally just looking for Barry Lyndon (one of my favourites), and found this collection. Lolita is also one I have been on the outlook for. 2001 is one I only own on a very worn vhs, so no-brainer there. Have the Shining and Full Metal Jacket already, but what the gell, they make nice presents.

You should get 'Paths of Glory' still my favourite Kubrick movie!

Not a concert this time, just a succession of clips. Still nice, though.

    Citizen Kane (1941) – Criterion Blu-Ray Edition.
    Yp6qC4kg4JLjjqcNdK8RAVM8eK2qnR_original.jpg

After being postponed from a November 2021 release due to image/contrast issues with the Blu-Ray disk, I have finally received my most eagerly awaited Christmas gift (to self 😊). And while the “fold-out” packaging is not ideal, this release is probably the ultimate for Citizen Kane fans. In short, you have a series of essays and more extras than a reasonable person could ever hope for.

Now EON, about your plans for a 60th anniversary release of Dr. No……….

BTW: The much maligned cover art actually makes perfect sense when you fold-out the package.

A funny thing happened today on my way to the Place de la Concorde in Paris. See, I had intended to buy NTTD next week, because every informations I had gave the release date as february 16th. I had a few gift certificates to spend thanks to my job, and wanted to use some of them. But, in the FNAC store at the Montparnasse station, I found out that the movie was already there. I didn't have my certificates on me, but I decided to buy it nonetheless, because it's worth it. And of course, because it's Bond.

…ah..Lana Turner!!! Unlike most fem-fatales of Film Noir, Turner’s “Cara Smith” actually wanted to work hard (legally!) to achieve her life goals (IMO)- at least at first!!. :)) And that is what keeps the film - again IMO - from being a simple remake of "Double Indemnity."

@ToTheRight. There is a very interesting featurette on my “Postman” blu-ray (US), that summarizes her (very stormy) life, as well as one on her co-star, John Garfield.

    lanaturner.jpg

    "Man Wanted" indeed!!!!
    Enjoy.

Funny that you should mention Double Indemnity. I read a comic book adaptation of that earlier today.

I can't wait to watch THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE, @Dwayne. I've only seen it once a couple years ago.

I'm really into Lana Turner these days. What a noir life she had. In addition she did films with Connery and Moore. Apparently, Connery kicked her mobster boyfriend's ass when he pulled a gun on her. She also gave Sir Roger very specific kissing instructions on DIANE. Amazing.

I have already all the Amicus anthology movies, and today, in a little shop, I found this :

So, I thought "Why Not ?" Plus, it's a classic.
