    "How did it happen?"
Jamaican road worker witnessing baddie's car blow up after chasing Bond.
    Dr. No

I think we might have found the worst car chase.

One of my favorite lines from Brosnan, and I've used it a few times myself.

I hope that wasn't after killing an unarmed woman!!

    :-O

Only once. Usually after a girl says "Do you miss me?"

    They rarely get the humor.

Most of the bad lines are from the Brosnan era.

Pretty much all of the dialogue in Die Another Day - I was sat in the cinema thinking, Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry are not too bad actors surely they could just ad-lib stuff better than what they were given, surely someone at some stage of the filming of those scenes thought, hang on these words the actors are saying don't seem that great!

DAD features some truly great dialogue!
    The fencing sequence for instance.
I agree on Berry, her dialogue is bad.

Well, the 'hit. positions..play' bit is ok.

You know one scene which does not feel scripted that is awkward is in Casino Royale when Bond asks Mr Mendel "Did you bring any chocolates with you". Mendel laughs...now Daniel and Eva's reactions does not feel scripted, they seem simply baffled by how Mendel reacts to the question.

Maybe it was Mendel's kooky laugh that threw them.

Yes, Craig's reaction does seem spontaneous.

And another one from Skyfall -

Eve - " It's some kind of sadistic game"

I thought that one was going to get ripped on here.

I love the "I never miss." line from TWINE. It's golden.

Yes, I thought it was actually pretty clever.

Maybe Brosnan's best line as Bond and his best delivery. What works is that it is a pun, but so deadly serious because of the circumstances. So it does not relieves the tension, only stresses it.

A real cringer for me was: "You'll need this for playing with your asp." from OP. If a well thought of writer like George MacDonald Fraser can't come up with better lines than this, then what's the world coming to?

However, it could be another example of a Moore ad-lib like the "That ought to keep you in curry for a while." line in OP and LALD's "We'll soon lick you into shape."

Away with all this negativity! Actually. I'm enjoying this thread.
Is there a 'best lines in all Bond' and if not, why not?

Best line from one of the worst films:

"My mother gave me a list of things not to do on a first date"
Bond- "Maybe you won't need it"

"It's something we're developing for the Americans, it's called the Ghetto Blaster" 1. Why would the British Secret Service be developing weapons for American, the munitions capital of the world. 2. Are they planning on using it on LA gangs lol. Love Q scenes but it's painful to watch.

Yes, I've often wondered this why would the British be developing something for the US that it already has. Boom boxes were then just as popular in the US as they were in the UK.

Whilst I don't have a problem with the line per se, I just feel I'm missing the joke here.
  • I thought the ghetto blaster line worked well - in that Q is so antiquated he thinks the name is something new and inventive, he says the line with glee. It works for me.
I think some of the later Q scenes work better than the Moore Era. I still laugh out loud at the "don't touch that! ... it's my lunch!"
    Brilliant!

Some of the post-Moore Q stuff does feel quite contrived. He says "pay attention 007" in every scene more or less during the Dalton and Brosnan years.

I always find the Barry Manilow stuff with Caroline Bliss pretty painful to watch.

Jinx "your momma, and she told me to tell you she's quite dissapointed at you." Jesus christ, what a crap of dialogue!
Also LTK has quite a few good (bad!) ones, being "i love James so much" the perfect example!!

It's not so much that the line is bad as it is crass. Tiffany Case in the movie is so darn crass and vulgar.

I can't stand her in the second half of the film, but in the first half I quite like her. She's the least irritating out of all the airheads that appeared during that period. (Rosie, Tiffany and Mary Goodnight).

One thing I can't get my head round is Timothy Dalton describing her as "wonderful" in a 1989 interview.
