I've read that somewhere before but never knew where it came from. Is it in the movie somewhere, like the closing credits or something?

Not in the credits, of course. I mean, can you imagine?

    CAST

    JAMES BOND ....................................................... PIERCE BROSNAN
ELEKTRA VAVRA KING ......................................... SOPHIE MARCEAU

Writing the middle name of the characters is so random... Let's continue.

DR. CHRISTMAS THANKSGIVING JONES ................. DENISE RICHARDS
VICTOR "RENARD" ZOKAS ..................................... ROBERT "BOBBY" CARLYLE
VALENTIN DMITRYOVICH ZUKOVSKY .................... ROBBIE "ANTHONY ROBERT MCMILLAN" COLTRANE
MR. "GOLD" BULLION ............................................ GOLDIE "GOLDIE" GOLDIE

Not to be annoying, but that's a patronym, not a middle name. It just tells us hus dad was Dimitri. A.k.a. @DarthDimi.

AT what point is our pool of Bondian knowledge complete? Never, I'd wager.

Most certainly never. I'm sure I've forgotten plenty of stuff and it seems every day is a school day on this forum.

I am probably a bit rusty on some Bond facts but a lot of it never leaves you! There's always new things to learn, which keeps the fandom from becoming stale.

Not at all; thanks for the clarification. My mind did flash back to Vavra from FRWL (male, of course) when I read the name.

The concepts do look great. I love how Pierce and Halle re-enacted it.

If you look closely at this, his legs are about a third too long, likely to make up for Berry's heel height. Ask yourself... where are his knees?

No, that's what I thought, check again. This movie really was a low point for 'stunt' doubles hidden in plain sight. It's like they couldn't be bothered to hide them.

In LALD, when Bond shoots one of the voodoo snake handlers and drops the snake, the snake just falls motionless to the ground. A very docile snake indeed!

Production assistant: Okay, next item. Who are we flying to San Francisco?
Cubby: All the main cast, of course. Roger, Tanya, Chris and Grace.
    Production assistant: Martin Grace?
    Cubby: Who else?
Production assistant: What about Walter Gotell?
Cubby: Uh, I don't think so. I had to slash the budget of the film after losing one too many backgammon games with Roger. Get a stuntman to fill in for him.
    (beat)
Cubby: In fact, let's get a stuntman to fill in for Roger, as well.
    Production assistant: In what scenes?
Cubby: All of them. We don't need him. I've had a vision. This will be the first Roger Moore Bond film without Roger Moore. With him free of his "acting" obligations, I'll have more time to win my money back from him. We'll get by with Simmons, Julienne, Graydon and Grace.
    Production assistant: Martin Grace?
    Cubby: No, Grace Jones.

Actually I never "knew" this before about YOLT. I didn't know the character of Dikko Henderson was written as an Australian in Ian Fleming's novel. That makes sense. Dikko sounds more to me like an Australian name than an English one, though I really enjoy Charles Gray's portrayal of the character. Dikko was based on Richard Hughes, an Australian foreign correspondent and spy.

--And I just read this: "It has been reported that Blofeld's cat was so surprised by the loud noises in the finale that it was only found several days later cowering in the rafters of the volcano set."

I love the Dikko character in the book. Far more entertaining than what we got in the film. Now there's a character they could still use...

In the casino scene in OHMSS, I love how distinctive-looking the gamblers surrounding Bond are. The one on the left, Steve Plytas, had a long career. He was in Fawlty Towers, and played the surgeon in Batman.

They don't cast small parts in films the same way anymore. Shame because it's much more visually interesting. Spectre did get it right with the henchmen chasing Q. A throwback to old films.

Good point there, @mattjoes. It's not something I've ever thought about really, but I guess it's easy to forget they had some pretty interesting looking minor characters in the early films. These are casting choices that can really add something to any Bond film.

I expected Bothe to see a tad more action/screen time, but what we got was still a nice little moment. I thought CR had memorable minor characters.

I did too; a couple of scenes at least. The scene he got wasn't bad though. A nice little moment indeed.

Agree that CR had memorable minor characters. The film kinda had too I feel, given that there was so much going on throughout.

Wasnt it surmised that he was playing Blofeld in pre production? Maybe it would have been better if he had?

Perhaps, I don't remember that though. If memory serves, he was confirmed as a henchman before the release.
I think some people speculated if he could be Blofeld, as he has that Blofeld look. But at the same time, with Waltz cast, we all knew that he would be the main villain.

The chasing of Q reminded me of the pursuit of Bond by Loque and the henchmen in FYEO. Especially when they were in the elevator (FYEO) and the gondola (SP).

I agree with the casting of the minor characters. In that OMHSS scene I always like the older lady "that's a great piece of luck being bailed out like that." Dressed in a glamorous dress and jewels.

It may have been brought up before. We should try and log these per film one day.
In OHMSS when Bond cleans out his desk he opens the middle drawer, and pulls out Honey’s knife.
Then in the next shot the centre drawer is closed and the left side drawer is open.
Placing the knife on the desk top he reaches in again and pulls out Grants watch. Placing it on the desk. Honey’s knife is then back in the drawer momentarily and finally out comes the rebreather from TB
Of which there are two seen in the drawer.
    John Glen. I forgive you.

Haven't we just discussed this before somewhere a few weeks ago...and at least some of us agreed that we'd hardly find anything that's not already listed in places like IMDb? There are about 80 "goofs" mentioned for OHMSS over there, including most of Benny's observations.
