Forgive me but when did he say he was returning?

Well it was broadcast a bit over an hour ago apparently. I don't know the exact time he said it, it was not live, surely...

Just saw the interview and saw Craig say "I will return." Sooooo happy! YES! Knew he would return, but he also confirmed this would be his last Bond film, so Bond 26 will be a reboot / recasting of the part. Very exciting news.

Thanks. Does anyone have the link? Oh, he said that this would be his last? Maybe that's not definite as these decisions often change but of course I won't be surprised either if it is his last.

The question is can they make Bond 25 a banger and end Craig as high as he started (CR).
Is CR a fluke or is campbell a genius.

Everything said is a marketing ploy and everyone involved in Bond are good at it

I think one of the things I love the most about his confirmation is that he genuinely looks excited and giddy. Almost like a kid. I love it!
Same here never seen him act like that before it's a good sight to see

I knew he never left. I was 90% sure ever since I saw SP back in 2015 tbh. Now they can finish what they started and hopefully - in hindsight - boost SP's worth too. Ahhh, feels great to be right.

That made the night for me, and now I'm grinning ear to ear. I've always been a staunch believer that Dan would do at least one more, but if someone told me that he'd make the announcement for his return in another on the Colbert show of all things I'd have called you a nutcase. Really unprecedented, not only for how it was announced but also that we will go into Bond 25 knowing it's the biggie, the last one of the lot. This knowledge will allow EON to really know what they're doing in executing it, without worrying about follow-ups or how the story will go afterward; they can just wrap it up and go out with "a bang" as Dan said knowing it's the end.

Couldn't be happier for Dan, and it's great to see that he and EON were finally put in a place where they could make all the right moves and give us this news. For a minute I believed the reports that he was still deliberating, but I'm happy to see it was all a game on his end to wait for the right moment. I wouldn't expect Dan to play a waiting game with EON, and true to his character he hasn't.

I hope this can finally end all the tedious suggestions of certain fans about who will be Bond next, and that we can cool that nonsense for another two years at least. Daniel Craig was James Bond, has been James Bond, but will still be James Bond for a while longer still. No talks about Bond #7 are needed, as they don't matter with this news. So very sorry for all the sad actors out there tonight, robbed of their shot. The Hiddlestons and Turners of the performance world must wait in the wings a tad longer for their chance, hopefully using the time to grow some hair on their chests if the time comes when they're in the running. Our boy has a little left in him.

Prepare to report to duty, 007.

This is my most hyped upcoming film and I have to wait over 2 years!! If this is indeed Craig's sendoff, which it is really looking like it will be, I hope they put 200% into it and deliver a staggeringly good Bond film. Craig deserves it.

  • Daniel Craig confirmed on the US "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" that he (Craig) will do one more film as Bond. He said he's known for a couple of months (getting thing worked out) but that his next Bond film is a go, and his last. August 15, 2017.

@TripAces, I commented a year or so ago that I wanted to whip out an "I told you so" when this moment inevitably came, but wanted to feign my maturity and give a quiet celebration. ;) I'm glad you went for it. "I told you so," indeed. Vindication is a helluva thing, wouldn't you say?

Turns out that Dan's New Yorker interview from all those months ago really wasn't him just playing nice while planning his exit, toying with EON. Turns out he meant what he said, that he loved the job, saw SP as "to be continued" and would miss it if he left, implying he was still attached. Who would've thought, right?

My excitement for his return is meet equally with my relief that such ignorant and foolish postulations as the above (and really much of what we've seen in the last 943 pages by the usual suspects) can cease.

Do you think Craig will return for Bond 25?

I am very, very happy he will do another one to ... exactly as he said ... end his tenure on a high note.

We all have out hopes and ideas about it but in the end EON will also have realized that repeating the "family thing" in SPECTRE did not work as well as it did (for the majority I think) in Skyfall.

I am torn about seeing Blofeld back again - I would prefer they keep him in prison and like "Doctor Mabuse" pulling strings from there at the most.

I would love to see Bond back in Jamaica for a good part of the movie, also would like at least some underwater sequences. Please bring back Q, M and Moneypenny ... but back in their usual spot ... even I liked Moneypenny to visit Bond in his appartement.

Before SP I was so keen on getting a script that is based on OHMSS - because the storyline suites the Craig era so well. But I am over with it to be honest and would be more than happy to see him more Casino Royale-like ... and teamed up with Felix again (that would be my #1 wish actually). There's so much stuff in the novels where Bond and Felix work together - would be awesome to bring him back.

I am very excited now ... very happy.

@Tuulia, interesting. I wonder when we'll get proper details on distribution. Dan has been on the same terms with EON for months now and knew he'd be back, so they finally reached a deal with someone. I'm honestly surprised we haven't heard more rumblings on the distribution side, which was the real tangible issue with the production not firing up and not these faux bets on who will replace Dan, which were always smoke and mirror click-bait.

    Amen.

Certainly, those of us who have followed Craig closely, especially his career as Bond, saw the "writing on the wall." The slash the wrists comment was overblown and taken out of context; he has said repeatedly how much he enjoys the role (even though it has its drawbacks); he has a close relationship with Babs, who will go to the end of the earth for him; he will likely co-produce; he has likely been given more creative control; and the last three reasons tie in with the studio deal that EON is negotiating.

Now that you mention it...I think I too would rather see Craig, in probably his last Bond film, battle a new villain. I think it would make for a more exciting movie. Then maybe bring Blofeld back for the first film with the next Bond actor.
