It is difficult to judge the suit without context, there is a possibility the shot may not even be in the movie and is 100% a promotional shot.

Gunn said in the post that it was taken on set: I don't think he's in character there.

A thing I think is important with Superman's costume is the wide open neckline. Somehow to me that underlines that he's basically invulnerable - he doesn't need to protect his neck. Also he doesn't need a polar neck because he doesn't feel the cold - I just don't like these supersuits with high necks. Probably sounds silly but I think it's part of the silhouette of the suit.
Pfft. Well he's got red trunks at least.

That makes more sense then, I missed that from Gunn.

It’s ok, it’s not like Superman’s costume has changed much in the comics over the years. Some people think that the background is a Brainiac reference. It wouldn’t surprise me.

I don’t know what is expected of the Superman costume; while there may be cosmetic differences, the look is pretty established. Yes, they could go completely out of the box , but that would be incredibly counterproductive .

Gunn appears to be trying to present a classic Superman; I see that in the new design, yes, including red trunks.

The suit brings to mind Captain America’s early costume, and that’s not a bad thing.

I don't know anything about the actor playing Superman, and I want to keep it that way, so I won't be watching anything he has done before...

But he looks like one helluva big boy. Way bigger than Routh, and he appears thicker than even Cavill.

On the surface, he looks as if bullets really would ping off his chest!

Corenswet has certainly put the gym time in, Superman should be an imposing figure IMO without even uttering a word.

One of the best scenes of the film.

Christopher Reeve is a awesome evil Superman.

Evil Superman VS Clark Kent - Superman III - Complete Scene!

OMG this is awesome, I watched this at the cinema this scene will always resonate with me.

This is all going on in Kal's mind, there is a lot of meta commentary going on in Superman III

Superman III is far superior to Superman IV.

I can appreciate the classic Superman suit, but at this point the red trunks just look right to me.

I actually think the promo shot is quite cool, especially considering it's supposedly a candid set photograph.
A remnider of how awesome Cavill's Superman reveal was as a comparison...

    man-of-steel-superman-4k-1e-2048x2048.jpg

I hated that image reveal. It made his Superman look too angry and aggressive, and the muted colors didn’t work. Turned out that was accurate representation of Snyder’s Superman being an aggressive ungentle mope.

Was that really the photo they went with for Cavill's publicity reveal? Looks absolutely awful, so grey and colourless. Cavill's face looks very strange too.

It looks very thick and rubbery, doesn't it. And I just don't like him with a high neck.
But the shield and belt look pretty cool, and at least it appears to be nice bright colours there.

I have to say, I’m 61 and have seen a lot of Superman costumes. At first the lack of red trunks struck me as wrong; but now , the presence of red trunks strikes me as wrong and somewhat silly. Maybe time will send the pendulum back again.

I can take it or leave it. Since Superman's costume changes very little over the years, there are other things in this movie that I'm more worried about.

    The colours are nice.

It'll probably get replaced by CG anyway.

I definitely think it will be polished in post production, with a great deal of cape replacement. I like vibrant colors , but there is a clumsy, “ costume shop” , feel to the suit. I will wait to see it on film to make a final judgement; it may look great.

I'm loving the suit. Beautiful colors, interesting shield (thought I usually prefer something more traditional), and the belt looks good. I've been missing the trucks, though they don't seem to be popular since the new 52. However...........here's the reason I give this suit a 10/10

The cape shield is back. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have issues with the suit that can be fixed with CGI tweeking.

David is a good actor and he does subtly well and emotes very well I am convinced he will be great Superman.

There are several scenes in Pearl that totally sold me on David being Superman, he will be the best since Christopher Reeve.

I will definitely hold final judgement until I see it in action, on film, but in photos, the fit of this suit is concerning. It looks like an off the rack, cos-play costume, baggy and ill-fitting
