Oddly enough, I have never imagined any of the Bond actors when I read the novels. In my mind, it’s always someone who resembles a very young Peter Cushing with his voice and mannerisms.

I too don’t imagine any of the actors. But.....wow....a Young Peter Cushing is random and very unbondian IMO. His voice is also camp and oddly villainess. The Hoagie Carmichael illustrations always nail the description for me.

That's what made me imagine him as Bond. I don't particularly view Fleming's Bond as a strongman as opposed to Connery's Bond and beyond.

Yes.....but this picture of Bond looks like a British John Hamm. Cushing actually looks camp/ gay. IMO. Flemings Bond is very much a brave tough type.

That was the impression I got from Fleming's Bond unfortunately the first time I read Casino Royale. It just didn't project the tough aspect of the character at the time, so the Cushing image stuck with me ever since.

Fair enough. The MR, DN and YOLT novels really show his grit though! Battered, bruised and prepared to die for the cause.

Agreed. In Moonraker he was a bit cockier, which I liked, and Dr. No elevated it to another level. You Only Live Twice was where we saw him live on the edge, which also contained a very satisfying story to begin with.

A young Peter Cushing doesn't look too dissimilar to Callum Turner...

This in from The Mirror, but originally from the Mail on Sunday :

James Bond bosses 'ask Sam Heughan to audition' for 007 as Daniel Craig exits .

    BBVkhMf.img?h=1076&w=799&m=6&q=60&o=f&l=f&x=1484&y=1828

Bond 25 is Daniel Craig 's lasting outing as 007 meaning we need a new secret agent.

Speculation as to who will replace Craig has been running rampant for months, but bosses are yet to confirm any names.

Producer Barbara Broccoli has said before she's not even thinking that far ahead yet, with Bond 25 not even set for release until April 2020.

Mail on Sunday 's source has claimed Outlander star Sam Heughan, 38, had a call from the producers asking him to audition for Broccoli. It looks like she's starting to think ahead...

The source said: “It has been 36 years since there was a Scottish Bond in Sean Connery and producers are looking for someone to emulate that success.”

They went on: “Sam is an experienced actor, he’s in great shape and he has a cheeky side which is appealing as the bosses want Bond to have more to him.”

Is it likely Heughan will replace Craig? Anything is possible at the moment, but you have to also remember Broccoli has said repeatedly she's not looking yet - and won't until Bond 25: Release date, title, cast, director, plot and song .

Shooting has only just begun in Norway so that's awhile off yet.

    BBVhNAI.img?h=532&w=799&m=6&q=60&o=f&l=f&x=434&y=238

Heughan has also auditioned to play Bond before, going up against Daniel Craig.

We know how that race ended, but that doesn't mean Heughan isn't in the running now especially since he's Scottish, which is something they want this time around.

Last year, Heughan was asked on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan if he'd like the role now.

He said: "Have I thought about it? Yeah, I have a few times.

"I did an audition for Bond a long time ago when they were redoing it with Daniel Craig when he was bond 21."

He said it was a "good experience".

Henry Cavill also auditioned for Casino Royale and was director Martin Campbell's choice, but he was seen as too young at 22.

Of course, Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton both went for the role and failed before finally snagging it so perhaps Heughan should try again.

Other names in the running for Bond 26 are Bodyguard's Richard Madden and Thor's Tom Hiddleston.

Bond casting has been the only talk surrounding the movie.

There's rumours James Bond 25: Rami Malek villain role 'confirmed' accidentally by stunt man in the new movie and James Bond 25: Ralph Fiennes wants to stay on as M after Daniel Craig departs .

The producers want a Scottish actor next? That narrows it down considerably. Good thinking!

Sounds like a lot of bogus and more heaps of it. The guy looks even less like Bond than Craig already does. More like Necros #2. I call bs.

Edit: and that voice, just no

I'm fairly certain it is BS. Remember how "the public" was going to bid on who was going to be the next Bond via BBC about three years ago? The so-called competition was between Tom Hiddleston and Aidan Turner, and suddenly the fake news reports backed away by saying "Barbara needs more time in selecting her actor." Something that wasn't confirmed by Barbara, at all.

I'm very skeptical about the veracity of this news as well. I also doubt Sam Heughan has what it takes. He looks too much like a pretty boy for my taste.

Yeah I wanted to post it yesterday, but then I realized hiddle piddle is pathetic enough as is already. He's aged horribly, too. Perhaps the new Q.

    Ha ha. Brilliant comment @JeremyBondon.

It’s already getting bad feedback with viewers saying he comes over as a creep.

Seen him in Endeavour. Decent actor, but don't know if he'll be Bond material. Still a bit young though.

Jack Bannon looks a bit like a very young Rowan Atkinson. Doesn’t look like he has big enough cajones to play an adult Bond.

Dame Judi Dench: 'Idris Elba would make a brilliant James Bond'

Dame Judi Dench has joined the growing number of stars championing Idris Elba for the role of James Bond.

The Brit is at the top of fans' shortlists to take over as 007 when Daniel Craig steps down after one more movie, and the superspy's former boss thinks he would be "brilliant" as Bond.
Dame Judi, who played MI6 chief 'M' in seven Bond films before her character was killed off in 2012's Skyfall, teased Idris about the role when the pair teamed up to film director Tom Hooper's Cats movie musical.

"I think he would be a brilliant Bond," the actress tells The Daily Telegraph. "When we filmed Cats he kept saying to me, 'Will you send me to the Heaviside layer (song from the musical)?' And at one point I turned to him and said 'No, I'll send you to MI6!'"
Dench isn't so taken with another Bond contender, Richard Madden, telling the broadsheet, "I don't know Richard Madden.''

Ralph Fiennes, Dame Judi's replacement as Bond's boss on the big screen, has also given Idris' casting as 007 the thumbs up, telling British chat show host Lorraine Kelly the Thor star would make "a fantastic" James Bond.
Elba has made it clear that he has no interest in becoming the first black Bond and recently revealed he has not had any conversations with Bond producers.

George Clooney is also a big fan of the casting, stating, "Idris Elba should be Bond, period. He's elegant, he's handsome, he's very... he should be Bond. I'm shocked that they haven't just offered it to him right now, he's the guy to do it. Mock up that poster!"cently revealed he has not had any conversations with Bond producers.

Judi Dench is just virtue signaling amongst her lovie Lib Dems set to appear hip. Someone needs to point out to grandma that Elba (I like him cos he’s a Gooner) is far too old to start his Bond tenure after Craig is done with it.

He'd be starting Bond at about the same age as Craig when he'll leave the role.

I'm glad Dench isn't M anymore and feel like Fiennes should be replaced. Enough with the nonsense, silly bunch of left wingers.
