As for your claim that the Super Bowl has the highest coverage...

    Oops...

Super Bowl is Even beaten by cricket finals. Now that's a LOL

Just ignore him @jobo. Us getting annoyed and smashing him out of the park with facts is exactly what he wants.

Although the cricket one is pretty funny!

I am not so sure... Considering the general level of knowledge in the US, it could be he is actually unavare that the World Cup Final har about five times more viewers than the Super Bowl.

The guy has already admitted to being a Trump supporter, an NFL fan and a NASCAR fan. I dont think its a stretch to say we can deduce from that that he also likes God, guns and nachos slathered with chilli and that god awful substance that passes for cheese over there.

I'm surprised he's even heard of football (I guess such knowledge of the world outside middle America makes him a professor) but the notion that he has even heard of Salah, or indeed Michael Ricketts himself, much less the value of a defensive stroke to silly mid off is a bit too much to ask. I think we can safely say that unless a 'fact' was spoon fed to him by Fox news over his Swanson turkey dinner then hes unaware of it.

Buggeration - now I've gone and done the very thing I told you not to do! I'm blamimg @Jobo and his hilarious cricket stat.

in the world...lol i couldn't care less where it's most popular in overpopulated third world asian and africa countries, puh-leaze. I'm talking the most powerful country on earth(fact) USA. Popularity IN THE STATES, or north america. Golf and nascar owns soccer over here, and those 2 are not even major sports.

you said soccer will surpass in 20 years american football that's the most ridiculous thing i've EVER read, not even in your wildest dreams it will happen.

Forbes has the superbowl as the most watched sport event in the world beating olympics so i win again.

soccer is literally the wimpiest sport, they fake injuries to get penalty shots and are physically built like children LMAO

like you said superbowl isn't a big event right? HAHAHAAHAHA

    game,set and match!

this is too funny, priceless dummy quote, nobody cares about soccer here people, that's why big cities pay huge money to superstars to get popularity and it's barely not even in the same league as hockey or any USA major sports.

can someone explain to me what's so fun about watching small men running 100 meters for nothing and faking injuries to have penalty shots?'

american football is a manly violent sport at least.

No reason to take petty, American nationalism seriously. At the end of the day football is a global phenomenon, followed with religious passion all over the globe. American Football is hardly even the most popular sport inside the US. So I'm not sure which is the most boring...

Football's popularity is groving rapidly in USA. Give it another 20/30 years, and I think football will have surpassed American football in popularity even there. How interesting can it be to watch guys in armor jump on top of each other in a wormhole, and then cheer every time your team has advanced ten meters?

i'd take trump over any coward liberal leaders in europe thank you, and soccer surpassing football in 20 years time LOL? that's the funniest thing i've read in a while thanks i guess, the superbowl is the most watched sport event in the world beating olympics. Soccer or european football is way behind golf, tennis, hockey, football, baseball, basketball, nascar just to name a few in marketing and popularity.

You can have a different opinion it's fine, but stop with the wishful thinking, you live in a utopia if you believe that.

Dont feed the troll and respond chaps. His infantile points are of less interest than even dear old 001's Salah fetish.

Your obsession with Michael Ricketts amuses and frightens me. :)

You're the one who seems to think 12 good games (well 9 - he went missing in the hammerings by City and Spurs and did nothing in the Utd borefest - but thats not to single him out they were all shit in those games) equates to world class. I'm just offering some perspective and saying it ain't necessarily so.
    001 wrote: »
    2 Excellent seasons with Roma.

Hmm. 1 in 2 for Roma constitutes very good but your proper world class players (your Ronaldos, your Messis, your Agueros) are scoring significantly more than a goal every 180 mins.

Egypt Apps 56 (32) Goals Also.

The way he is playing no wonder when he joined Chelsea he had the nickname ,"the Egyptian Maradona"

You went there? Really? A team that have just faced the might of Chad, Uganda, Congo and Ghana to get to the world cup? Is being big in Egpyt seriously the benchmark of world class now?

You should be cheering for him and enjoy the 3-0 win if you are a real Liverpool supporter like i am instead of behaving like a snob.

I am cheering for him but he is not the problem. In fact he is papering over the cracks and in the second half of the season when fatigue sets in (an inevitability with Jurgen's system as we saw last season) this goal streak dries up we will be laid bare as the midtable team we are.

Difficult to enjoy the 3-0 win when a calamity is round the corner. 3-0 Huddersfield, 3-0 Southampton - oh what heady days of yore we are living through. Who have we got on saturday? Oh yeah Chelsea. If that ends up a 3-0 win to us then I'm happy to jump on board your Salah bandwagon and delude myself that we're going to win the league - but in the words of Les Dennis himself 'If its up there I'll give you the money myself.'
Silva working his magic on this Watford team again. 1-0 up against West Ham after eleven minutes.

The Moyes effect kicking in immediately. Wonder if he'll come out in the press conference and say 'We are going down' like he did to inspire everyone at Sunderland?

Who is this Les Dennis you speak of ? Your Mentor ? :)

Could I suggest you vacate this thread if the world's most popular sport offends your sensibilities so much? Trying to wind people up will get you precisely nowhere.

Please feel free to use the American Football thread. Otherwise I don't expect to see anymore inflammatory comments on here again from yourself. Thanks

  • sure, but everybody knows soccer is the world most popular sport, but like i said most of the countries in the world are poor and not developed and can only afford to play with a ball and some fabricated posts.

I'm just saying in america or canada soccer is FAR behind all other major sports, and that dude got so pissed off at the truth he blocked me, i win i guess.

American football is mostly played with hands so why the football name?- And rugby plays with the same oval ball and is for grown up men who do not need any protection. ;)

Sven Mislintat appointed head of recruitment, joining Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund. What a wonderful few days of football this have been! :D

«He is credited with creating the pipeline of young talent at Dortmund which has produced the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Shinji Kagawa and Ousmane Dembele.»

Time will tell, but looking at the players he's brought to Dortmund, there is reason to be optimistic (I hope!). The best thing about the appointment is the fact that there's something going on in the scouting department these days. Then there's the never-ending rumours about a sporting director role, as well.

oh i respect rugby , i've played for a few summers and it's solid. but rugby is even behind soccer in north america, it's a dead sport completely dominated by american football, rugby players are about half the size of A NFL offensive line, so big deal.

hockey players are fully armored, does it mean they're pussies? oldschool hockey is much tougher than any rugby leagues in australia or wherever, your argument doesn't hold.

Hockey and american football now that's some real badass sports fella's, there are even NFL matches in london btw

most soccer players weight like 160 pounds, they're literally built like children.

Best of luck! Very close between the teams in Championship it seems. Just noticed that Sheffield United are all the way up on second – that's incredible!

Is anyone watching the Liverpool game?

Winning 2-0 away in Spain is incredible enough but I think I just saw Karius make a worldy. Clearly I am having am hallucinating or having a stroke or something as that's impossible.

I think I need someone to call me an ambulance.

Edit: Phew my seizure seems to have passed. I think I'm ok. Normal service resumed. Moreno playing like Traore's paraplegic brother. We'll end up conceding 6 here. What an utter pile of dogshit I'm watching. Still as long as Salah scores at some point who cares hey @001?

Yup, watching the Sevilla-Liverpool match. Incredible first half, but Sevilla has found out the defence of 'pool. This match is not finished by the look of it!

What's your predictions for the game against Chelsea, @TheWizardOfIce?
