#3 & 4 on my ranking... :-O
That's because you blow. ;)
Me.
I think TND is a very solid Action Movie. But for me it was always very unmemorable and uninteresting. It is a very generic action movie. It has in fact very few flaws but it also has not very many good elements, too. The villain is overacted, the henchman Stamper is forgettable, the locations are boring (I mean as a German I am happy to have Hamburg as a Bond location, but they just filmed in a garage and a hotel room, you see nothing of the city itself). The score was quiet good (but no Barry). The Bond girl was kick ass but I missed the character and the chemistrry with Bond. I only liked Dr. Kaufmann. I think he was very funny but he died way too fast.
I really don't dislike the film. After another viewing it may be 5 to 10 places higher on my list. I have noting particular against it.
\m/
I do think that SP is a much better film than TND, a film that lost whatever good stuff it had going on during the Hamburg party scene.
I have yet to see SP since the theatre and need to before I can determine a rank for it. I think I'm going to end up ranking it similar to TND after I see it, which is middle to lower of the pack. They are both action driven Bond films for me (a little light on plot), but I think TND may actually do it better than SP on that score. At least the action was class leading for 1997.
I'll know for sure after I pick up the blu.
Nice to hear that it is one of your favourites. Yes your nick name makes me believe you are an AVTAK fan. I don't know. It is probably the bond film I saw the most. It was very often shown on German TV when I was young, like all the other RM Bond films. I also noticed that the German version is probably the better one since Stacey is not screaming that much, at least it's not that loud and annoying :-)
I also like FYEO. I really like the funny car chase with the Bill Conty score and the suspensefull underwater sequence. I only found the ending not that good and the villains a bit unmemorable. And I still don't know why they had the figure skater in it :-) She was in the film for no reason :-) But I also liked Columbo, Luigi and Melina.
I honestly like most Bond films and RM is my favourite Bond actor. I always wondered why people say they like Roger but they dislike AVTAK. It has less campy elements than other bond films and some very good incredients like the score, the villains, locations,...
Probably it is Roger's age that makes many people dislike his last film.

That's quite a good list. The only obvious problem with it is Specter at 22nd, much too low in my opinion.
Your list is the most interesting by far. I completely agree with your top-2.
What I find must intriguing is you have DAD not only at 14, but also the best of the Brosnan era, and Goldeneye as dead last overall. Care to explain?
Inconthievable... :P
Sure! DAD I find to be mostly enjoyable, and there's a sense of fun about it that isn't really there in any of the other Brosnan films. Yes there are terrible moments in it, but the action is good with the swordfight and hovercraft chase, Brosnan is giving his best performance, and its energetic, unlike the dreary soap opera drama of TWINE. (And I actually thought I would have TWINE much lower but on a recent watch I came away with a hey, this isn't that bad kind of reaction).
Goldeneye, yes it's my least favorite Bond film. I just find to be...dull. 90% of it takes place in decidedly un-exotic grey, dour, dreary locations, the Euro-bleeping score is terrible, I find Xenia Onatopp to be the most embarrassing character in the entire series, Brosnan is trying way too hard to be Bond, the "it's what keeps you alone!" attempts at psychology are awkward and out of place, Bond slaughters entire platoons with a machine gun, Alan Cumming is too silly...etc.
:D
I agree, thank you for the post.
