I'll always have a soft spot for Brosnan. He, like the other actors brought something undeniably unique and fresh to the role.

    An example being?

My thoughts exactly. He is a middle of the road attempt at a cross between Connery and Moore?
  • You think there is some negativity in this forum ?
On French Radio Europe 1, a fun & quiz show asked "Who's in it only for the money ?", and the answer, you guess it, is Daniel Craig. Then they explained that all his negative comments were caused by the fact he had just been fired from the franchise and won't do the next one !

With Sam Smith's 3 weeks only in the Top #100 here, and a song that I simply never heard on the radio yet, Craig's "suicide" interview is still the only promo we have about Spectre (released in 1 month here). I saw the DB10 a few meters from me, but the Spectre car parade in Paris did not made much impact either.

It has been announced that Craig will do only 2 TV shows here, one major and one minor.

I wait for the Seydoux and Belluci promotions, I hope for her they won't have to answer questions about this "suicide" comment.

I look forward to this thread being bombarded in the next few days with thoughts, ideas and wild speculation as to where Bond 25 will take us.

I don't know about anyone else but I actually think I may enjoy the lead up MORE than the actual finished films themselves ha ha...

Whatever happens there will be a new Bond film in 2017.

What gives you THAT idea. I think, its almost sure, they might start in 2017 and it will be out in 18. Nothing else seems possible. Otherwise they would need to hark out ideas as we speak and none of them will do that. Sorry...

Chris Evans tricked him with a line of questioning on the BBC breakfast show which dug Dan in a hole that he was doing another one. The Graham Norton interview is also being quoted in todays press that he pretty much conceded to Norton he would do another. he explains it well. He says it's such long, tiring process, your not Bond on screen for 2hours your in Bond mode for 2 years, from the initial sit down to the final day of shooting. He finds it easy to switch it off and go back to be Dan, the family man where he does not have to think about it for two years, then its time for the 1st sit down on the next film. He says Sam feels the same way, you finish, and you just had a Bond overdose that has had your full time an attention, as the script is being drafted all the time even while filming. Its an exhausting process. But then you say lets see this next script. I think Dan will convince Mendes to return for one more. I think if the studio will give them a year off and then they start the process again we will get one more Mendes and Dan movie in Cinemas 2018 Dan hits 50 and takes a bow.

I'm fine with Craig but enough of Mendes. The only thing is that I think they are tied at the hip with Bond.

Would Craig still be into it without Mendes?

Have you seen Spectre? if not how can you comment on Mendes when the world press who have seen it says "Mendes shown he can do exhilarating action, grandioso film making outside of drama, he's nailed it"

I understand some are annoyed over Mendes in Skyfall but I would reserve judgement until you see Spectre whether you want him back or not.

I said I did not want Martin Campbell back after Goldeneye, because I did not enjoy it. How wrong was I. If he hadn't returned I would not have Casino Royale my favourite film.

You know if Mendes does not wish to return I think if Campbell bearing in mind his age was up for it Craig and Campbell telling the final chapter of Dan's tenure would be very fitting.

No but I think Mendes has run his course. I enjoy and am a fan if Mendes. I just think Mendes threw in everything he had into SP and anything else from Mendes would take Bond off course.

Maybe I should have said "but after Spectre enough of Mendes." Sorry
  • I definitely think another director should helm the next Bond film after SPECTRE. Look at the latest Avngers film, Joss Whedon, it was not what the first film was. It was still good but you could tell Joss was exhausted and already put his all into it. I think they should bring back Campbell or go for Nolan, but I'm not sure Nolan is the right fit for the direction the series to be going in now.

You are probably correct on this.

Barring some completely new creative vision/script by a top notch director which DC can sink his acting teeth into, I really don't see him wanting to come back and recreate the wheel with just any another director (especially given how complex these Bond productions can be).

He's just not that kind of actor.

I'm all for Nolan to direct next one but honestly doubt tho he would be available to do so if rumors are said to be true about him directing Akira adaption. If anything I say if not Nolan then Mathew vaughn.

Could Vaughn keep Craig ...or should I say would Craig stay if Vaughn?

I know Craig will work with other directors outside of Bond ..even said he wanted to in the infamous suicide interview.

My only issue with Fincher is he hasn't done much in the way of action. His story would be character story driven. It be back to Skyfall, love Skyfall but the fun just returned no point going back now.

Matthew Vaughn? If I had to come up with a director who was the absolute least likely person to direct a Bond, I'd probably say it was him. EON approached him, and Craig of course, for CR. Obviously that didn't work out, and now he's making blatant distasteful Bond ripoffs and giving interviews where its clear he's got a chip on his shoulder about Bond. And hiring a guy who is making Bond pastiches is not the way forward, creatively.

If Mendes does leave, EON will want someone in that same acclaimed league. Mendes' presence in the series has raised the bar for directors. Denis Villeneuve recently said he'd direct one if offered, and he brings the right credibility as well as the non-American profile.

I don't know or keep up with Vaughn. Didn't see or want to see Kingsman.

Non-American profile? We should ban British audiences from all American movies with that attitude.
    :P

That's EON's mandate. If you notice, they have never hired an American director. I believe that was Cubby's rule, and they've kept it.

Bond should be British but I wouldn't rule out an American director just because he's an American director ....having said that I can't think of any American directors I want right now.

In a word yes. He is rightly frustrated at people going on about the next one? How about we celebrate the one they are promoting and are about to release nationwide and internationally!

even if I love Spectre I may want a different director for bond 25 because I am vaguely sick of S titles ;) And all Mendes can do is use one word S titles lol

Directors Craig has worked with that honestly I would really be excited if they came to direct Bond 25

Jim Sheridan (worked with Daniel Craig on Dream House) Jim is Irish so the no American rule can still apply. He Also has a wide range of films he has directed.

Simon West (worked with Daniel Craig on Lara Croft Tomb Raider) two words CON AIR. Ok I get it West is an "action director" and not in league with Nolan and Mendes but does he need to be? as long as the writing is fantastic West I think could deliver a top notch bond film.

Steven Spielberg (worked with Daniel Craig on Munich) do I need to make a case for this guy Honestly? ok I know what your going to say "Indiianna Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull" but even the best directors fail with the property they are known best for (The Dark Knight Rises for example) The last two espionage esque films while based on real event both have a style gritty look to them that would work perfectly with Craig's Swann Song (though I am still holding out hope he will be in 2 more films not one) Again I would focus on Munich, Bridge of Spies, Jaws, and Raiders of the lost ark. I feel Spielberg could deliver a fun yet dark and gritty Bond film.

They could never afford Spielberg... at least that's what Spielberg himself said.

Spielberg was a big fan of SF by the way.

I liked Bridge of Spies. Spielberg could deliver a brilliant Bond film, but it's very unlikely to happen. Near impossible imho, which is a shame. Just one from him would be great for the Bond franchise.
