Just back from a brilliant weekend in Wales for my brothers wedding. I was acting as best man. Very proud to do it. I was extremely nervous about my speech. It was all going so well until I got to the part about lost loved one. My brother, sister & I lost our mum in January and my wife & I lost her mum 10 weeks before so the last year has been tough. My wife's mum was terminally ill and my wife looked after her at ours for 8 months before shd passed and my mum went suddenly in January. Anyway, it was a tough part of the speech and I struggled at it. After that mum my speech went out the window and I just winged it. I did get the laughs I wanted which was nice, with one of my jokes getting round of applause. Well, home now, it was great and I am so happy for the newlyweds. Just thought I share.....

As some know, I'm teaching English in China right now. It's standard for people to adopt an 'English name' when studying English. Unfortunately they're often chosen by nonnative speakers and this you get people who sound like they were named by a Hollywood actor (Smile, Apple, Pretty and Rainy are just some of my students). So I'm often asked to provide an English name, which always left me flummoxed. So I've written down the names of all the Bond girls and many of the Bond villains (and the Bind actors) and offer the students to choose any they like. I had a student choose Stacy today.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Good luck with your teaching! I recently had a friend teach English in Japan for three months and he loved the experience.

@Dragonpol, It's one of the pictures our old friend Christatos used in the Post a picture of yourself thread to prove his existance. Granted he's never shown his true self but it didn't stop him from using other people's pictures. Both living and dead.

That's what I thought. He must be using other people's pictures...which is a tad worrying.

Is Kananga or Scaramamga on the list? By the way, good idea!

I think it's only first names he's referring to.

Should he return again, I hope he uses something else. Gimp is a free photoshop substitute and easy to use. I'd like to see smooth pictures with good cuts by him for once. :))

Is this so you can call your students Honey and Pussy without repercussions?

I didn't use Pussy. I also didn't use some of the more difficult to pronounce names. And I tried not to get too cute-if these kids get attached to the names and use them later on I don't want to cause excessive sniggering.

All mammals have a maximum number of heartbeats before their heart wears out. It is possible that genetic therapy may alter that for the wealthy elite, but for the other elite, those few with a clear conscience and a steady heartbeat, maximum age for a human being is apparently 144 years.

    Get one of them.
