TB versus LALD could be somewhat interesting.

LALD wins for me as a film alone. Doing the elements would be fun.

    I like @Perilagu_Khan's suggestion.
    I was also thinking about...
    YOLT vs. OP
    DAF vs. TMWTGG
    TLD vs. GE
    TWINE vs. QoS

I'm not entirely sure if those have been done before, sorry. Those are all films that are close in my rankings so I don't know if anyone else would like to see them or not. Just my two cents.
  • I'll start taking your requests next time around (promise) but inspiration struck last night. Before we do the next contest, the winner of this one, by a margin of 262-246-2 is For Your Eyes Only! Great back and forth battle. Anyway, our next contest will be The Man With the Golden Gun vs. The World is Not Enough. I'll start, as usual...

PTS: TWINE (overrated, but still better)
    Title Track: TWINE
    Title Credits: TWINE
    Main Villain: TMWTGG
    Main Bond Girl: TWINE
Overall Plot: TMWTGG (still can’t beat Bond vs. world’s greatest assassin)
Dialogue: TMWTGG (tough to beat Bond and Scaramanga’s dinner conversation)
    Score: TMWTGG (Barry beats non-Barry)
    Settings: TWINE
    Action: TWINE
Humor: Tie (Christmas coming vs. JW Pepper and Nick Nack? Pass.)
Cinematography: TMWTGG (TWINE is one of the uglier Bond movies)
Benign Bizarre: TMWTGG (gotta give it this one too)
    Suspense: TMWTGG
Minor Characters: TWINE (not a Nick Nack fan)
    Glamor: TWINE
Ally: TWINE (damn you, JW Pepper)

TWINE 9-7-1. Surprisingly strong showing from my least favorite Bond movie (TMWTGG, that is).

PTS: TWINE (TMWTGG's is neat and original, but TWINE's is simply superior)
Title Track: TWINE (not a big fan of either, but dislike TMWTGG's more)
    Title Credits: TWINE
Main Villain: TMWTGG (Elektra/Renard are solid, but Scaramanga is one of the series' best)
Main Bond Girl: TMWTGG (again, not crazy about either; edge to Mary)
    Overall Plot: TWINE
    Dialogue: TWINE
Score: TMWTGG (John Barry; can't remember TWINE's very well)
    Settings: TMWTGG
    Action: TWINE

    Cinematography: TMWTGG
    Benign Bizarre: TMWTGG
    Suspense: TWINE
    Minor Characters: TWINE
    Glamor: TWINE
Ally: TWINE (Valentin > J.W. Pepper)

    TWINE: 10
    TMWTGG: 7

Both two of the most underrated Bond films. I enjoy them both, but there was no doubt TWINE was better for me - IMO, Brosnan's second-best after GE.

PTS: Gun (coolest PTS in the series)
Title Track: TWINE (best lyrics in series history)
Title Credits: Gun (ho-hum, but at least they're not ugly like TWINE's)
Main Villain: Gun (if Renard were the main villain, this would be fairly close)
Main Bond Girl: Gun (Richards may be the worst)
Overall Plot: Gun (only because TWINE's plot is hopelessly convoluted)
    Dialogue: Gun
    Score: Gun (an underrated score)
Settings: Gun (Far East locales are quite good)
Action: Gun (TWINE's action is some of the most generic in the series)
Humor: Gun (with Purvis and Wade penning TWINE's bon mots, there's really no question)
    Cinematography: Gun (not close)
Benign Bizarre: Gun (but I do offer praise for Devil's Breath)
Suspense: TWINE (a tossup, really, but I'm rather fond of the submarine climax in TWINE)
Minor Characters: Gun (save Dr. Arkhov, I'm hard pressed to recall a noteworthy minor character in TWINE)
Glamor: TWINE (a weakness in Gun)
Ally: Gun (Pepper is lesser than in LALD, but still a slight edge over Zhukovskii)

    Gun 14 TWINE 3

    Sounds about right.

Both films are low in my rankings, and are close together (TWINE, #19, Gun, #20), so this will be interesting:

PTS: Tie (the PTS of both films are perhaps better parts of the films, and Gun's is fairly underrated).
Title Track: TMWTGG (always liked Lulu's song)
Title Credits: TWINE (Gun's is rather bland)
    Main Villain: TMWTGG (no contest)
Main Bond Girl: TMWTGG (Just. Both terrible)
Overall Plot: TWINE (TMWTGG is too convulated and loses focus)
    Dialogue: TMWTGG
    Score: TMWTGG
Settings: Tie (both have some interesting locations)
Action: TMWTGG (astro-spiral just tips it)
Humor: TWINE (Went too far in Gun)
Cinematography: TMWTGG (both quite dull, but shots of Scaramanga's Island are beautiful)
    Benign Bizarre: TMWTGG
    Suspense: TWINE
    Minor Characters: TMWTGG
    Glamor: TWINE
    Ally: TWINE

    TMWTGG- 9
    TWINE- 6
    Tie- 2

Interesting. I do slightly prefer TWINE.

Oh it's like Sophie's Choice. Except in this case I hate BOTH children. ;-)

PTS: TMWTGG (I think TWINE's is massively overrated and overlong but Gun's isn't much better either)
    Title Track: TWINE
    Title Credits: TWINE
    Main Villain: TMWTGG
Main Bond Girl: TMWTGG (I'm assuming TWINE's is Dr Jones. Both horrific either way)
    Overall Plot: TWINE
    Dialogue: TMWTGG
    Score: TWINE
    Settings: TMWTGG
    Action: TWINE
    Humor: TMWTGG
    Cinematography: TWINE
    Benign Bizarre: TMWTGG
    Suspense: TWINE
Minor Characters: TWINE (Only because it's the last time we see Desmond)
    Glamor: TWINE
    Ally: TWINE

TWINE wins 10-6. Both films are still pretty pants though.

I surprised at all the support TMWTGG is getting; I've seen it in at least the bottom 5 of almost everyone's rankings that I've looked at. It definitely has its flaws, but I like it as well. TWINE still has a definite edge for me, but they're probably going to end up being fairly close in my rankings when I'm through with my marathon.

PTS: TWINE, Too long, but better than the carny show
Title Track: TMWTGG, Garbage didn't belong on a Bond title track
Title Credits: TMWTGG, better quality nekked girls
Main Villain: TMWTGG, Sophia Marceau wouldn't qualify to enter Christopher Lee's acting school
Main Bond Girl: Neither, I refuse to acknowledge one is better than the other if it doesn't involve Jinx
Overall Plot: TWINE, I could have gone either way, but I decided to give TWINE a chance to catch up
Dialogue: TMWTGG, Phu-yuck was actually pretty creative in 1974.
Score: TMWTGG, John Barry's worst is still better than David Arnold's average.
Settings: TMWTGG, Thailand and Hong Kong over former Soviet republics any day.
Action: TWINE due to lack of a slide whistle.
Humor: TMWTGG for "Speak now or forever hold your piece"
Cinematography: TWINE, TMWTGG's cinematography stayed in the mid-70's
Benign Bizarre: TMWTGG, this is a no contest
Suspense: TWINE, when I first saw TWINE, I really was wondering how Pierce was going to get out of the torture chair.
Minor Characters: TWINE, but not by much
Glamor: TWINE, TWINE had the Baku casino. TMWTGG had the Hong Kong strip club and the sumo wrestler's butt cheeks.
Ally: TWINE, at least Zukovsky didn't drive off on Bond.

It's an 8-8-1 tie. Realistically, I prefer TMWTGG.

    Title Track: TWINE
    Title Credits: TWINE
Main Villain: TMWTGG - (Gun's one true asset.)
Main Bond Girl: TWINE - (My God, did I just choose Denise Richards?)
Overall Plot: TMWTGG - (Both are lame but at least Gun's isn't pretentious.)
Dialogue: TMWTGG - (Dialogue was not a strong suit of the Brosnan era.)
Score: TMWTGG - (Barry sneezed this out on his worst day and it's still better.)
Settings: TMWTGG - (Close, but I love Scaramanga's Island.)

This will be interesting. Two of the weaker films:

    PTS: TWINE
    Title Track: TWINE
    Title Credits: TWINE
    Main Villain: TMWTGG
    Main Bond Girl: TWINE (yep!!)
    Overall Plot: TMWTGG
    Dialogue: TMWTGG
    Score: TMWTGG
    Settings: TMWTGG
Action: TWINE (the boat chase is still more compelling than the dull car chase in GG)
Humor: TWINE (I really loathe some of the comedy in GG. TWINE isn't particularly funny, but a couple of scenes do raise a smile from me)
    Cinematography: TMWTGG
    Benign Bizarre: TMWTGG
    Suspense: TWINE
    Minor Characters: TMWTGG
    Glamor: TMWTGG
Ally: TWINE (No brainer if given a choice between a bloke who drives off leaving Bond and one who saves him before dying)

    8-9

MWTGG wins...just, but I still prefer TWINE a little.

Although The World Is Not Enough jumps around on my rankings every-time I see it it currently rests at the very bottom of my list.... right above The Man with the Golden Gun. It appears (for me at least) this is a battle for last place....
