@SirHenryLeeChaChing, that's what I thought the giveaway was, but the hand is just of a silhouette that drags him deep down into the water.

Crease my man, I only saw it once but I know that hand was someone rescuing him and not part of the titles sequence. I think that was Tonia but that's something they left for us to speculate on as far as who it was. The rest didn't need to be shown, nor in my opinion did we need to see more than what we saw in Turkey. I would have liked a little more Tonia, but then again I wanted more of Berenice too, that's how it goes. What I want to know from you is how sexy you thought Berenice was smoking a cigarette in the casino. MADONN! My Dad would have said "don't bother to wrap it, I'll eat it right here" :)

    ....was it salt water? :-\"

Seriously though, as an agent I'm sure Bond has been taught to take care of injuries like that- and (while I've only seen the movie once so far...) wasn't the PTS and Silva's island an undetermined amount of time apart?

I think it's been a few months. From the time Bond falls in to the water
    - although he doesn't have much facial hair stubble - M meets with Mallory who tells her that she lost the NATO agent computer drive three months ago.

Yes, they did say he'd been "dead" for a few months. It think it was two.

I was lost because I couldn't remember Patrice shooting Bond in the PTS--only Moneypenny. Plus, I also missed the part about Bond getting that chip off Patrice's body. I only knew about that when I went online later. Before that, I thought Bond went to the place where Patrice's victim was.

@SirHenryLeeChaChing, incredibly sexy. I had myself a cigarette as soon as I left the theater and instantly thought of the beautiful Berenice.

I'm due for another viewing myself because my memory is hazy- but I believe it's the part (which is in the trailer too) when Bond is in the seat of the crane wildly waving his arms about as he's hit with glass and debris- it seems the glass saved him from getting killed, but still hurt him.

While he continues on fighting almost as if it never happened, there is definitely quite a bit of blood on his chest after that part

  • As soon as he got shot and fell into the water, I wanted to know who saved him and how did he recover? I don't think the discussion here has cleared up anything.
  • they never officially explain how Silva work for MI6 since he is not British born....
  • Does anyone have a picture of Silva without his dentures?

My only conclusion to that was that he must have emigrated as a young child to Britain and gotten work in that way. That, or we just ignore it, ala Tom Hardy's CIA (or FBI, whatever the hell he is) role in 'This Means War.'

It's left up for us to decide, I suppose. Some say as soon as the title sequence starts, we see someone pulling him out of the water. But, I was under the impression this was the famous Bond silhouette girl, dragging him under even further as the title sequence continues.

Whoever posts it, please post it as a link only. That was the nastiest I've seen in a Bond film since Madonna.

THAT WAS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR BRADY!

Of course it's my own fault for looking.

  • Hi, I'm new to the community and James Bond in general, but love it all already. Here are a few questions...

My understanding of the 007 Movie History is that: From Sean Connery (Dr. No) to Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day) has been roughly in chrinological order, while Daniel Craig's Bond films are prequals (Casino Royale ~ Skyfall). Is this correct?

Since Judi Dench is M in the Brosnan series and Craig series, does this create some sort of time warp, where she is M in the past (Craig) and future (Brosnan)?

Therefore, the history of M would be Judi Dench (name?) -> Ralph Fiennes (Gareth Mallory) -> Bernard Lee (Miles Messervy) -> Robert Brown (Admiral Hargreaves - No M Sirname?) -> Judi Dench again?

    Thank you!!!

I really didn't see that. I took the hand in the water being a twist on the iconic dancing girls motif, but instead here they are pulling Bond down into his watery grave. The next shot is Bond falling below the riverbed and into the 'underworld' after all. His 'resurrection' is never truly explained, as Bond's death is more a symbolic notion than an actual event. Bond needs to die to come back, they had to destroy him in order to rebuild him.

Did anybody else like the imagery that goes along with the theme, but not the theme itself? Adele's Skyfall just seemed too... generic to me, but I loved seeing things like Bond shooting his reflection in the mirror, or spinning around to shoot the shadow that turned into Silva, those things were cool.

There doesn't seem to be any images out yet (believe me I looked)
However I did find this stylized illustration which was pretty cool in its own right:

  • hat's actually fantastic. Also I'm very curious because I really cant remember, but what is the dialogue interchange between M (Fiennes) at the end of the movie. Does Bond ask about his shoulder or is my mind playing tricks on me. Also is the last line: "With pleasure Sir, with pleasure" or is it "with pleasure M, with pleasure". I always thought it was the former.

I doubt MI6 has a requirement that all agents be British. This would limit their pool of talent quite severely and make it difficult to get agents who can blend into various countries and backgrounds. The UK is part of a common market as well (the EU), in which citizens of all member states are free to move around and find work wherever they want. Plus the UK military also regularly recruits 10% or more from the Commonwealth, so perhaps MI6 is the same. Or may be Silva has a British mother or something. Either way, any decent intelligence agency is going to want agents of varied backgrounds, race etc. The fact Silva is not British did not both me.

Bond asks, "How's the arm, sir?"

M(allory) replies with something about being in the field, etc.

And Bond's last lines are, "With pleasure, M. With pleasure."
  • To whoever that saw Skyfall, this is my only question: Was there a gunbarrel opening sequence? I really hope that it was shown at the start of the movie...

I felt the same. Wasn't a huge fan of the theme song but I loved the titles.

Nope. It's at the end and has the same terrible design as QOS.

It was at the end, but the opening to Skyfall was pretty outstanding even without it.
  • @thelivingroyale @MrArlingtonBeach Seriously, guys? Ugh, I was hoping it was shown where it belongs *sigh*. Oh well, thanks anyways. At least the barrel was still shown though...

I thought the gunbarrel would have worked perfectly at the beginning of SF: it cuts in to where Craig will stand, pans out to show us the hallway, and the little bit of score kicks in as soon as he walks in to frame.

I actually thought that, too. But I guess I was OK with or without it at the beginning, given the slick entry of Bond into the picture.

I felt that an entry as cool as thought made up for it, but knowing how the gunbarrel looked at the end, it may have ruined the moment if placed at the beginning. I just don't like that gunbarrel at all.
  • @Disco_GaGa007 I really wanted it at the beginning too. I don't think the opening shot is as good as a classic gunbarrel would've been but the by the time the PTS has really kicked in you'll have forgotten about it, I thought the opening action scene was the best part of the film.

I love how overworked people get over one stinking gun barrel. Hilarious. It was at the end. So what?

I liked the new gunbarrel for Skyfall. It's perfect for Craig's Bond. I just want it at the beginning now.

When Bond is shooting Silva while he's climbing up the ladder, Silva says something like "good pan, good pan James, for a physical wreck". Is Silva supposed to be saying "plan" or maybe something else and I just heard it wrong.
