Maybe they'll dump Activblind® now that Legends is a flop.
  • I have found players in all of the modes in the evening. I really love Data Miner, didn't play it in Reloaded.

Hey if anyone has any gameplay or pictures of the ppk in game that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This seems to march my impressions:

One solution for our little multiplayer issue: we could play together.

Paid off by Activision much? Why do people keep writing about this mythical overarching narrative that doesn't exist?
  • There is *something* there I think. The most overarching bit is the transition from OHMSS to Licence to Kill, they linked Tracy's death to CR and I like the way it suddenly gets gritty with Bond in "revenge mode." Hopefully there will be something that justifies why they chose those films in the cutscenes before Skyfall.

Playing trough the campaign now..just started the DAD mission.
everything up to this point bar multiplayer was a disappointment! i have to say i got a little excited when the OHMSS ski level started up only to be horribly let down by the terrible gameplay and the re-use of the blood stone theme proves activision are a bunch of lazy ba***rds.

My thoughts too; for all of those who dislike Quantum of Solace so much, I can tell you that I feel much more energy and excitement gunning my way through the parking garage of the Perla de las Dunas or the town square in Venice than many of the gun fights in Legends. And as for Blood Stone, well let's just say I knew Legends wouldn't beat it, because it is that great!
  • The only bad thing about Blood Stone were the graphics. The cutscenes were pretty dire, Bond's hair was too "defined" and dark.

If Legends had better graphics, it would be a lot better. Everywhere you look there is a repeated texture.

Blood Stone was great. The Graphics were great for 2010. And at all, the graphics ain't important. Mario World, Starfox 64, GTA San Andreas, COD MW1 & Goldeneye N64 makes even more success nowadays. The game needs a Gameplay. If it has Pac-man graphics, it works for me.
There are flash browser games even better than PC and X360 games.

Spot on. It's all about the gameplay.

The environments were great, but the character models did not stand up to close inspection.

Yes, gameplay is the most important factor, I loved Blood Stone. It really was a great representation of the Craig films, my favourite moment being the hardhat scene, very reminiscent of when he chucks the phone aside in the car in Quantum of Solace. But it's adherence to the Craig films, it's aping of the Craig films, was completely undermined by the cruddy graphics in the cutscenes.

For a Bond title today, it needs to be as good as its competitors. Splinter Cell Conviction's graphics is what I would expect of a Bond game today. They're not incredible, but they are very solid, and to a degree, photo-realistic. Blood Stone came close to that.

007 Legends at times could be mistaken for a PS2 game that's been up-rezzed for HD consoles. And that's probably because it uses the same engine as GoldenEye Reloaded, which was uprezzed from the Wii. The graphics are very rudimentary.

At every corner in 007 Legends, as I am enjoying the way it has reimagined the films and the "set design" (and I quite like the "world building" it does - especially in Die Another Day, it did a good job of linking the bio dome with the hotel, and expanding Project Icarus to be a proper commercial "product" more than it seemed in the film), I notice the same door texture used for double doors, walls etc. Texturing is obviously necessary, but the way it is used in Legends is lazy. In Goldfinger, just before the first stealth section, you're in the chamber before the smelting room, and the big doorway opens and you notice the same rust on the edge of one side is there on the other, flipped over! I know it's common practice, but it is way too obvious in Legends.

Ideally, for me, if the next Bond game has to be an FPS, then I hope Eurocom will spend the next couple of years developing the engine so it's up to scratch, implement a cover technique similar to Quantum of Solace and make more of Bond in the gameplay, rather than slotting in gadget moments inbetween the COD shootouts.

By the way, did anyone notice in GF, they forget about the "deadly nerve gas" straight after Bond sees Pussy? He walks right into it and crouches behind the railing!

What's Moonraker like? I'm anxious to play that the most.

My ideas for how Legends could have turned out:

    Goldfinger

Level One: Stealthily infiltrate Mr. Ramirez's drug plant and sabotage the hidden labs; make your way to the nightclub and defeat Capungo hand-to-hand

Level Two: Drive to the airport where you have a flight to Miami waiting, and avoid getting killed by Ramirez's thugs along the way

Level Three: Sneak around the Miami Beach hotel and investigate anything suspicious surrounding Auric Goldfinger

Level Four: Win the game of golf with Goldfinger (simple controls and easily done, since this is not a sports game, hahaha)

Level Five: Infiltrate Auric Enterprises and find out about Operation Grand Slam; drive around the compound in the DB5 and defeat Goldfinger's thugs along the way

Level Six: Defeat the jail cell guard; sneak around Goldfinger's ranch house and investigate anything related to Operation Grand Slam

Level Seven: Play as a US military soldier and fight alongside your team against Goldfinger's army at Fort Knox

Level Eight: Battle Oddjob inside the main vault of Fort Knox hand-to-hand

Level Nine: Battle Goldfinger and his thugs on the president's plane hand-to-hand

Characters included in the multiplayer from GF: Auric Goldfinger, Oddjob, Mr. Ling, Kisch, Miss Galore, Capungo, Bonita, Tilly Masterson, Jill Masterson

    On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Level One: Drive to the beach and rescue Tracy from committing suicide; defeat Draco's thugs hand-to-hand

Level Two: Win the card game in the casino and defeat Che Che in the hotel room hand-to-hand

Level Three: Defeat Draco's thugs hand-to-hand at his office; meet with Draco

Level Four: Sneak around Piz Gloria and find out anything about Blofeld's plans

Level Five: Escape from the cable car room and stealthily investigate Blofeld's plans further; escape from piz Gloria on skis, avoiding being killed by the SPECTRE ski thugs along the way

Level Six: Battle the SPECTRE thugs in the village hand-to-hand; defeat Irma Bunt and her goons in the car race

Level Seven: Escape from Blofeld and his SPECTRE goons on skis once again, and attempt to save Tracy from the ensuing avalanche

Level Eight: Assauly Piz Gloria with Draco

Level Nine: Defeat Blofeld on the bobsleds

Characters included in the multiplayer from OHMSS: Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Marc Ange Draco, Tracy, Irma Bunt, Grunther

    More to come!

Naomie Harris' character art looks like it's from THE SIMS
  • Seriously, they look great. How they look in the game will be another thing.

Why is everyone so keen to hurl abuse at this game? There's nothing wrong with those at all.

Really? That reminds me of Batman Begins (the game). When in a stealth section, guards are always talking, and it is some of the greatest dialogue I have heard in a game. Brilliant stuff.

    The guard conversations in 007 Legends are pretty funny. In the Goldfinger one they talk about choosing the vending machines over the restaurant, because the food from the machines is better. Oddjob told that to one of the guards, and then they talk about Oddjob and how he knows his food, and got angy once when his eggs weren't properly cooked or something.... 8-}

WHAT?! HE'S MUTE! Did Activision make him talk?!?!
  • @OBrady, that was my response exactly when I heard the conversation in the game! Maybe he used sign language =))

Just another broken little piece thrown into the game that (somehow) they didn't expect loyal Bond fans would notice. *sigh*

That is tragic. Everyone, even buffoons like Activision would know that Oddjob is mute. Or did they think he just took a break from the killing to go and take a vow of silence?
