I never understood the logic of Superman lifting up an island filled with Kryptonite. I do not mean the mass of it, I mean how can he have that strength when the very thing that strips him of his powers is all around him?

I do like the tone of Lex in the ads. Though I have seen some say "oh great another Superman film with Lex as the villain." So there might be some fatigue from the die hards.

In SMALLVILLE there’s an episode where a vial of Clark’s blood is placed next to kryptonite and it literally starts boiling. THAT is how lethal kryptonite is supposed to be. Even if Superman were to lift an entire island made of Kryptonite he should have died right after. It felt like Bryan Singer wanted to have his cake and eat it too by using the famous “Superman is Dead” headline from the comics, but then immediately had him revive at the end looking just fine.

Oh then I am scared that there is too much into one film. Especially with all the characters I see.

Well it depends, years ago people could tell a full story with interesting characters in well under 2hrs. The first 2 indiana jones films are under 2hrs and so are the first 3 Bond films. Star Wars is 121 minutes and Empire is 124 minutes, so from that perspective 2hrs to tell a Superman story should be plenty.

I do agree with how self-indulgent cinema has become since the millennium, its a bit of a worry the film could be overstuffed.

I’ll happily take a brisk Superman film that’s able to concisely tell a story within two hours. It helps we’re skipping the origin story in order to get straight to a fully developed DC universe. If it’s taking the format of ALL STAR SUPERMAN then it sounds like what we get are vignettes strung together in a feature length film. Seeing Superman face a new situation with each segment, featuring different characters and objectives. Obviously there will be a through line so I look forward to what exactly that is. I assume it’s related to Lex.

I'm not liking what I'm seeing, to be honest. I'll give it a watch sometime but likely going to skip a trip to the theater.

That’s pretty cool. This is the most anxious I’ve been about a Superman film since 2006. Only I hope this one actually lives up to the hype this time.

I am incredibly biased when it comes to Superman, the new films marketing has been poor. I will still watch Superman as soon as I can at the cinema, I watched Superman Returns at the cinema and despite obvious issues I tried to convince myself it was good on first viewing. I always want anything Superman related to be great.

Odd thing to say when he's there jumping over a tall building! :D

Same here. When I went to Metropolis, Illinois to the Superman Museum (as @peter saw) I felt like a kid on Christmas. It also proves that Superman has barely been touched as a cinematic character. I want this to succeed, but I am a bit nervous. Not as nervous as I was when Zack Snyder was announced as director, or that General Zod was the only villain in MOS. I still think that Superman (2025) has some surprises in store for us.

    FYI,

As part of the promotion for the new SUPERMAN movie, Turner Classic Movies (US) will be broadcasting the 1978 film on the evening of July 10th as part of a block of CHRISTOPHER REEVE movies.

We are lucky to have so much great content of Superman in other media, the Superman museum must have been a great experience.

Gunn does tend to hide things with his trailers, I would not be surprised if one of the characters we keep seeing is a stand in like the Hulk was for Banner in the Hulk buster from the Infinity War trailers.

I think Superman will be good I just hope it gets a good audience, DC messing up there films is tiresome, admittedly I am bored of the cinematic universe thing.
