First Light looks amazing, I'm really excited about this, I feel like this game is going to be special. I love that Bond has his scar and the majesty's music hit was lovely. I feel like IO really understand the world of Bond, which is great.
"Bond is a bullet, without target" is a great line too

Today has been torture, I've been in work all day and I knew the trailer was out and couldn't watch it.
My girlfriend sent me this text this morning,
"Babe the trailer for first light looks soo good, the model of Bond they've got looks a bit like you as well. God you're going to be insufferable haha xx"

I can't wait to see Calvin Dyson's reaction video.

Honestly, I rewatched it a couple of times as well! It's very good.

A few people I know at work even mentioned it (don't know if they're all gamers). Bond news always has that wide appeal I suppose. Just imagine when a new film is announced or a trailer drops.

The video on the PlayStation YouTube Channel has already amassed over 1.4 Million Views - I’ve been rewatching the trailer repeatedly as well. It’s so damn good.

This is actually something I see as a side benefit: GoldenEye came out when first-person shooters were on the rise and revolutionized the genre, creating a video game sensation and drawing a lot of new fans into Bond (I was one of them). I don't think First Light is going to change gaming on the same kind of level as GoldenEye, but Hitman is a HUGE series amongst gamers and I know there are droves who will play this because they love IO. I can see this having a similar effect on the Bond fandom as GoldenEye did, a lot of "accidental new fans" if you will.

Mendes4Lyfe just has a major grievance towards the Craig era in general. The guy actually tried claiming NTTD was critically panned. As if it was never actually highly rated among critics and audiences.

It’s annoying watching him constantly put down the Craig era - but I also find it annoying reading about that hate boner you and others have for Brosnan - especially after reading your comments about how if he was a better actor he wouldn’t have been let go or the other ridiculous nonsense you spewed - none of which were true. Your hate for Brosnan’s tenure is every bit as annoying to read as Mendes’ hate for Craig’s era - both of you need to get over your grievances and move on.

I don’t hate Broz. I’m just bouncing off of Mendes4Lyfe’s shtick.

Yeah. People simply can't get enough of James Bond. Gosh! If Amazon announces something soon concerning Bond 26, it's going to be seismic!

I hope so he's my favourite Youtuber, we probably have different tastes in Bond films but I love his videos.

I'm excited for the world they're building with this game. I've never been interested in a "young Bond" in film, but I think it makes a great premise for a game. Becoming Bond so to speak

Well you had me fooled - my apologies if that came across harsh. I’m just tired of the debates over actors and films especially when First Light’s trailer is a moment that should bring fans together - though I also understand his shtick and why he felt the need to bring up SP and NTTD is beyond me.

I’m excited for this game too. It just feels great to have Bond back in general. It appears to offer something that pays homage to what has come before while doing something completely new.

I wonder if they’re gonna have a bit in the game where he drops the habit of touching his ear after getting spotted leads to disastrous consequences.

Better make that 3. 2026 can't come quick enough. It's been too long since the last game, and longer still since the last one I was this excited for.

While it's true the graphics are not that great, I think in the videogame industry nowadays we give too much importance to graphics.

Agreed. I’m just so terminally online that I am starting to construct the arguments people will have against something I like before they even voice them. It’s a very bad trait.

But like I said, this game will work off the double IP punch of being a Bond game and - possibly - the spiritual successor of the very well liked Hitman games. Those work really well on like YouTube Let’s Pöay and shorter video formats because of the crazy stuff you can do in their sandbox. I assume that’s something we’ll see with First Light as well. Everyone is talking about outfits from the films or even the likenesses of the actors. I wouldn’t be surprised if they put characters from the next film in one of the existing missions as a marketing feature.

I noticed among gaming culture there’s a subset of gamers who really want and expect every game to be hyper realistic graphically. If it’s not top tier blockbuster Hollywood level of CGI then “it looks like PS3 graphics”. They’re especially critical of Nintendo as that company stopped focusing on trying to make innovative hardware gaming and are more focused on what engages people across all walks of life and that’s why the Wii and later Switch strongly connected with people.

I'm not much of a gamer (if I ever was much of one tbh) so anything looking better than what I had on my old PS2 just blows my mind.

I watched the trailer again and I am so ready for a new, younger Bond and a new MI6 crew to bounce off of.

Ha I love that. Craig’s Bond would be irked if he saw the new Bond casually walking through crowds while touching his ear.

In video game Bond's defense —

When he's walking through the club/concert he definitely shouldn't be touching his ear, but when he's approaching reception at Universal Exports, he seems to just be removing headphones he was listening to music or a podcast on whilst walking, which I found to be a delightful little grace note of modernization for a younger audience.

The crew I could do without. Part of the Craig era's problem is the amount invested in Q, Moneypenny and the change of M. Not really arsed and just eats up screentime.

If this game cultivates a new audience, that's grand, but hopefully not selling the 'Avengers' type of template.

We'll see, anyway and if they get it right, we are in business.

I’ve been saying for years, it’s a baffling oversight that Bond hasn’t had Headphones with enhanced microphones as a gadget. I can set my noise cancelling headphones to a mode that they pipe in the external sounds instead of cancelling them. People around me still think I am listening to music and can’t hear them. A bit of Q magic on top and you’ve got a simple and modern gadget to listen in on conversations at the other end of the train carriage or the hotel lobby. Would be fun to see something like that in the game. Stay close enough to listen but not too close so they see you or whatever

    Love this idea.

My own "hot" take: The logic that "everyone has iPhones/gadgets now, so Bond's gadgets aren't as special, so he shouldn't have gadgets" was always creatively questionable. Cinematic Bond's gadget-lite approach during an era of unparalleled technological innovation, in particular, stands out as a bit strange now. There are so many potential opportunities just like the one you've described. I would certainly welcome a return to that spirit.

Just had a search and a leaker on 4chan apparently (hence the focus on skin colour!) revealed a number of points about this game, including that Bond is played by Gibson, which all turned out to be right- the only other one is the adversary is an AI company:

    fl-jb.png

There was a shot of what looked like a quantum computer (not a computer owned by Quantum, but you know) so I think the AI company thing is still up for grabs.

Leave it to Dyson to always find a detail that escaped me. So the maid Bond gives a one liner to in the hotel is also the woman at the gala function later where he does the „head hunting“ quip and most likely also with him in the Aston car chase. Which would most likely make her some kind of operative if she was trying to infiltrate the hotel as a maid the same time Bond was there as a page boy and the or one of the female lead characters of the game. Very interesting.

Also, I only now realized that the motorcycle Bond somehow triggers with his watch in the lab is very clearly branded as a Triumph. Which to me indicates that it isn’t just in a cutscene, but rather that motorcycles will be playable. I’d argue they wouldn’t have sprung for a licence for a one-off visual. Which is cool.

I remember 007 Racing, which wasn't stellar I suppose is fair to say :)) But I did love that you could just ride with all the gadget-laden Bond cars up until that point, except the one from TLD. That always bugged me to no end. Superhappy to see we will probably be able to drive it in this one, 30 years later in what is most likely a much better game too.

Edit: I need to correct myself, seems more like the Aston from OHMSS (thanks Calvin). Not sure how I could miss that :p

Concerning the trailer, I quite like it. It does have some Kingsman-esque vibe to it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
