    I am not keen on the animation used this time around, but it is better than something like telesnaps.

    Well, given that no telesnaps exist of this arc, it would have been hard to use any, don't you think ?

    Now, good news : Series 1 starts on BBC One (and Disney +) on May 11th, with two episodes that will air before the Eurovision Song Contest finale :

    Massively overpriced in the long run, with parts that wont fit together properly? No, i'm good, thanks.

    And happy 40th anniversary to the 6th Doctor. The Twin Dilemma part one went out on 22nd March.

    I can't criticise the change of direction/genre, as it has already been done in the past. The Hinchcliffe period of the Baker era leant heavily into horror. But watching the trailer, nothing wowed me.

    Could they be spinoffs?

    The first 2 episodes have dropped of the new new who series, I feel obliged to watch as this is one of my favorite shows... it pains me that this feels like a chore (the trailers were bloody awful) as I have loved this show for 50 years, hopefully its is better than I am expecting...

    Edited: 2 minutes in exposition dump and a major retcon, admittedly the Doctor does lie...

    Great to have Murray Gold back.

    Space Babies was forgettable though the series has potential, the overall story arc intrigues.

    The general feel of this episode did feel like Sarah Jane Adventures, the script was not great, it was continuing the bad habits of the Jodie ere too much exposition.

    I like Millie Gibson, highlight of the show.

    The last ten seconds in the Tardis at the end of the episode was great.

    The Devils Chord, not sure what to make of this as its good then equally bad at the same time. This show works when they adopt a serious tone, I don't get the bizarre crap.

    What works is infinitely better than the Jodie era which is a plus point.

    @Fire_and_Ice_Returns Thanks for the reminder mate. This was a nice surprise for me, as I hadn't really kept up with Who news since Christmas. I didn't expect to see the season until later in the year.

    It has already dropped on Disney+ and BBCiplayer, the second episode is pretty good for the most part. I would even go as far as saying there is some genuinely brilliant moments amongst alas some cringe.

    Millie Gibson is great.

    I am looking forward to next weeks episode which I was not expecting to do. They were wise to drop two episodes as on reflection the first episode is a bit of a stinker, I do understand they had to make it as a kind of pilot introduction episode though its still a stinker.

    I watched the first one: it’s very slight and silly but it’s an introductory episode and it does a very good job of setting up the new leads who are both fantastic. Looking forward to the second one today.
    What’s the retcon?

    I must have missed something in the Jodie era as the Doctor in both episodes mentions The Timelords being obliterated. Must have been by the Master in Jodie's second season finale, I completely forgot about that terrible episode.

    The second episode is much better if you ignore some cringe moments.

    Yes I haven’t rewatched any Jodie ones either: I thought they were terrible but I like that they’re not entirely ignoring everything which happened in them. RTD is actually finding the drama in Chibnall’s ideas (like the orphan stuff) which Chibnall himself never did.
    The show is feeling much better already. I’m sure there’ll be some naff episodes on the way but this is so much stronger than it was under the previous showrunner and Gatwa has the makings of a proper star.

    Thought it was very good tonight. Not absolute top tier Moffat, but it does feel like the show is back properly, finally.
    Gatwa surprises me by making choices I don't expect, which is what I want in a Doctor. He's very very good in this ep.

    Best episode so far from the Disney era, saying that far from Moffat's best though good nonetheless. For me the weakness is the Doctor himself very erratic acting and why is he crying like every 5 minutes.

    It appears this seasons big bad is in plain site and has been throughout?

    I was surprised to see
    the new companion
    in this episode
    maybe they are doing similar to what they did with Clara in Asylum of the Daleks.

    I do have issues with this season though there no point in me moaning about them, I just hope the overall story ends up being decent as I am intrigued and for the first time in years I am actually theorizing about the show.

    As last week's ep had a Beatles theme, Big Finish are releasing their 2014 drama Fanfare For the Common Men as a podcast. It has the Doctor and Nyssa visit 1963 to find that the Beatles have been replaced by another band and was pretty fun as I remember.

    It is a real shame they could not get the rights to play at least one Beatles track for The Devils Chord episode, it would have made more sense that when music returned at the end we heard a Beatles track.

    Folks did say that Twist And Shout would have been a potentially good choice, not just because of the Twist thing but because the Beatles didn't actually write that one, therefore they wouldn't have had to pay Apple Corps to use it. Not sure who owns it now though.
