I feel like @RichardTheBruce 's round wasn't officially concluded. Did I miss something there?

    Was there an answer?

I don't know, but it would've been good to get some kind of confirmation before moving on.

Oh that was a fine transition I thought @QBranch.

Appreciate the opportunity to collect those like items. It played out to a point, and with the pause discussion redirected. Thanks for everyone's patience with me of course. (If there are additional suggestions I'll add them.)

If it warrants a named winner: @j_w_pepper kicked it off by naming NSNA and asking for the letter of the law. Well done!

I think it's a good enough subject to have its own thread.

Mmm yes. Combined with @Gerard's and @goldenswissroyale's new direction with Bond mentions in a mainstream film I guess.

I'm traveling at the moment, can establish it sometime in the future as soliciting for the two topics. Two lists, under one discussion. Thanks for the suggestion @mtm.

    Coming soon.

Thank you, but your initial instruction was "last one added wins". NSNA was the first you added, if I read the first few posts on this subject correctly.

Let's kick the New Year (a bit in advance, I admit) with a trivia question : What did the costume department use to create one of the most iconic clothes of the series ? I'm talking here about a very specific piece of clothing, and it didn't take much work to change it. Clue : Those who have visited Bond by Design might know what I'm talking about.
Allright, one clue : it's something that's needed by half the population on this planet.

I'm at a loss here @Gerard which film was this iconic fashion piece used?

I was thinking of Jinx's belt in DAD? But am likely way off!

Basically the only pieces of clothing that immediately come to my mind as being "iconic"
let alone "most iconic"are Honey Ryder's bikini and Blofeld's Nehru jacket (Bond's pink tie from DAF doesn't qualify for me). I just don't suppose either of those is actually needed by half of mankind.

Sorry to have taken so long to reply, but my computer has given up the ghost last week. I'm now in my local library, using one of their computers, and I don't know when I'll be able to use mine. Back to the question :

@j_w_pepper , you're on the right track. Sohere are a few more clues : That peice of clothing is something very close to the person who wore that costume. And it was an improvisation, done on the eve of the filming of the scene in which the costume appeared.

Okay, one more clue : It's not near the bottom. In fact, think top.

I presume it's a bra, but I can't think of an iconic one in the Bond films.

I was thinking of a bra as well (see my post about Ursula's bikini), but I keep refusing to accept that half of mankind (i.e., womankind) actually need a bra.
Well, J_W, the point goes to you. That was indeed Ursula Andress's bra that was used to create the top of the bikini she wore in DN. The costume lady in charge of making that bikini, Tessa Welborn, asked for one of the actress's bras on the eve of filming that iconic scene, and used the armature and a piece of white cotton to create that iconic top, with the help of Terence Young and Ursula Andress herself. I learned that piece of trivia while visiting the Bond by Design exhibition in Paris in 2016. Now, on to you.

Ah, so I was lucky! I failed to find that particular part of the story...until now:

"The bikini top was constructed in cotton over Ursula Andress’ own underwire bra, so the top offers her plenty of support for the action scenes." I'll try to think up something new asap.

All right, it's been three months now, and I didn't want to monopolize that thread, but here's another one for you :

As you know, Bond has driven, or been driven in quite a few cars who have been turned into toys, most notably by Corgi. Everybody knows about the Aston Martin DB 5, for example. There is one car which, as a toy, featured a gadget that was neither featured nor even mentioned in the movie in which the car appeared. Which one ?

Hint : as seen in the adverts, the use of that gimmick could have caused a catastrophe.

I'm gonna go with Aki's Toyota GT something... GT 5000? with missiles that fire out of the boot/trunk, they look more like mortars than missiles. As a toy they're yellow, in the illustration, I remember them being red and white.
And we have a winner, ladies and gentlemen ! Indeed, nowhere in the movie those missiles do appear, or are even mentioned. They existed only for the toy car.

Wow, that was quick. Your turn now, QBranch !

Congratulations! Sorry for not having come back to this, contrary to my intention from January. But once a thread gets buried on page three of the list, or lower, it's really gone for good.

Thanks Gerard! That was off the top of my head - later on I considered it's probably a 2000 not 5000. Yeah, the missiles impacting with the rocket so close to the volcano is reckless but would've looked insane on screen. These are the images I was thinking of:

    Corgi-Toys--336-James-Bond-Toyota-Missiles-1.jpg

I don't own many Corgi vehicles, and not that GT either. I must make amends for this crime.

    Alright, here we go:

Which Bond adventure has at least FIVE differing versions of the same basic/overall story? That's 5 versions - the original story + 4 adaptations of it. If there's more than one answer for this, I apologize. Any and all research is allowed.
  • Adaptations is radio dramas/TV shows/movies and comics strips right?
I'll guess Casino Royale: original story in 53, 54 show, 67 film, 06 film and I think the BBC has done a radio drama. If not, the Daily Express must have adapted it

@Reflsin2bourbons I was thinking of TWINE, with all the game versions as well as adaptation novel and possibly an audio book (if it exists?), but your answer involving Casino Royale might just be an even better (and earlier) example, so I'll give you the game. It would be interesting to see just which adventure has the most - it probably is indeed CR, because it's the natural starting point.

Right: since I gave a novel based answer, a novel based question.
Which character is being described in this novel? (Hint: it isn't 007)

"She gazed at the face as if seeing it for the first time. It was dark and clean-cut, and the eyes were wide and level under straight, rather long black brows. The longish straight nose ran down to a short upper lip below which was a wide and finely drawn mouth. The eyes were harsh and the mouth was cruel, the line of the jaw
    was straight and firm."

I can provide further description of this character if necessary, but it probably won't be very helpful. Another hint perhaps is to consider the non-Fleming works.

Did the research, and actually I think the games (video and computer games) make it much easier!

CR we went over already, no BBC drama as I said, but there is a comic. The QOS game also adapts some CR elements.

LALD has the film and a computer game. Some say that due to LTK's heavy use of LALD's elements, it also counts as an adaptation. That adds the LTK novelization, and the LTK game. There is also the BBC radio drama and the Daily Express comic.

MR has a film, and novelization. Some count DAD as an adaptation of the novel, so with that comes that novelization (by Raymond Benson). GE is also considered an MR adaptation, but more on GE later. MR has two radio dramas: one with Toby Stephens as Bond, another with Bob Holness. MR also has a comic strip

DAF has nothing that the others don't have: film, comic strip and radio drama.

FRWL has film, comic strip, radio drama and the game

Dr. No also has a film, comic strip and radio drama

Goldfinger if consider on its own, has similar to Dr. No and DAF. But one of the GE games mentions you being hired by Goldfinger and going to kill Dr. No. Ignoring the weirdness there, AVTAK is considered by many as a GF remake. If included, then there are two AVTAK games that also exist with it.

3/5 FYEO stories have a film named after them, all have a comic strip, QOS and AVTAK games have already been mentioned

Thunderball has two films, radio drama and comic strip

TSWLM, if counting the film, has the aforementioned film, novelization, and game. More organic media is the comic strip.

OHMSS has the bog standard 4 adaptations

YOLT has the film and two Craig movies inspired by it. Radio drama and comic strip as well.

    TMWTGG has the normal bit.

GE has the film (in this case the original), the novelization, and then 5! games using GE as the title (the EA effort with GF and Dr. No, the reloaded one, an unofficial one, one by Tiger Electronics and finally the famous 1997 one.) On top of that, there is an uncompleted Topps comics adaptation with only one of three published editions. There is also a documentary on the famous 1997 game.

So in summary, if audio books (and radio dramas) are included, I think all the Fleming novels have 5 versions of the same story (of course some of the films are dodgier connections than the others).

@Reflsin2bourbons Nice research there, quite a few versions - surely enough Bond adventure in there to keep fans entertained between films. Reminded of LALD, you also have the role playing games which came out circa early eighties, maybe earlier. I have LALD, but there's also TSWLM and maybe others. The role playing games add and remove details from the film story.
TSWLM was not adapted in the role-playing game. Believe me, I would know if that was the case. But the film poster served as an inspiration for the cover of the RPG :

So it's from a 007 book? Maybe Bond's doppelganger in Doubleshot?
