    SKYFALL
So, I relented and bought a ticket for this screening!
Surprisingly low turnout than usual, and even more surprising I actually enjoyed this viewing after struggling for years to see what others see in this highly rated Bond flick! And i felt the pace was quicker as I am usually quite bored with a regular watch of it! I still dont like the jarring change of character of Denchs M from the stern commanding presence of QOS to the grumpy Old Granny we get here, and am still unaffected by her death scene, but overall I had a more postive watch of SF. Onto SP next week! Cant believe these screenings are nearly over!

I agree, doesnt feel like 23 weeks have passed since Dr No!

Skyfall stands tall, and faces it all, with a second best total of £20,361, not including performances in the following week. My hunch, based on the Tuesday booking at my local cinema, is that it will be very popular, most putting off their viewing from Sunday due to the extended bank holiday.

Still, a very strong performance from what is considered one of the series' best.

Helped by the largest screen count to date.

    SPECTRE
And so to Craigs penultimate Bond movie! Disappointed to see it on a slightly smaller screen, but the sound was fantastic! Better turnout audience wise than last week. I still find this much maligned film entertaining and I think the whole section on the train from Bond lecturing
Madeleine on how to use a gun, to their old style setting dining car meet, through that bruising fight sequence, and equally bruising love scene, and those gorgeous shots of them waiting on the Rolls Royce, as my highlight! I even enjoyed the final section this time out! So shoot me! 🤣 The score made more of an impact on me this time too, or maybe it was just the more distinctive sound! All in all a really great Bond night at the flicks!

Yeh, I first thought it was because of the release of 'Dr No', but that was the 6th!

No Time To Die finishes the 60th Anniversary run with a very respectable £17,780, even though it only left cinemas at the beginning of this year and is the most recent release.

Also reported this weekend (30th - 2nd October):

    - Skyfall (45th, £6,038)
    - Dr No (59th, £3,358)
    - The Living Daylights (60th, £3,170)
    - The Spy Who Loved Me (63rd, £2,957)

All likely from the BFI Anniversary screenings over the weekend.

Its been a fun time tracking all of the weekly stats for the films. I even managed to go and see them all!

    NO TIME TO DIE
And so it ends, man, that few months flew in! The usual bunch at this screening last night, and I am STILL in two minds about NTTD, was underwhelmed at my first viewing in the cinema, but loved it on 4k bluray!! Entertained and not so much at this viewing, if that makes sense?
Anyway, still lots to enjoy, the first hour + absolutely zips by, then it slows before ratcheting up for the finale ( which, I admit, did get a lump in my throat!) This time I did find the Cuba sequence jarringly out of place, though I love it, it doesn't sit well with the rest of the movie, ( particularly the moment Bond falls from the balcony behind the bar and then jumps up in a very silly way!) though I am head over heels in lust with Ana!
One thing is certain from going to these screenings is that Bond absolutely belongs on the Big Screen!

Finally, fortune appears to be smiling my way. In January, here in Chile, the Catholic University has programmed a series of films with Sean Connery, titled "From Scotland with Love." They have yet to announce the specific films, but with that title, I bet there will be one or more Bond films among them. I just rewatched Dr. No the other day after a long while, but I'll certainly watch it again on the big screen if the opportunity arises. Hell, if time allows it, I'll try to catch as many Connery films as I can, Bond and not Bond. The theater is beautiful and cozy, and it's always a great experience to visit it, so I'm very excited about this.

So now I know. They're showing 5 Bond films: DN, FRWL, GF, TB and DAF. Painfully, I shall have to miss the screenings of DN and FRWL (hopefully they will be repeated sometime in the future), but I will be able to attend the screenings of GF, TB and DAF (my favorite Connery Bond film!). Between those three films and Sp and NTTD, I will have watched 5 Bond films on the big screen.

Other films they're screening include The Hill, The Molly Maguires, Marnie, The Untouchables, Outland, The Man Who Would Be King, The Hunt for Red October, The Name of the Rose and The Wind and the Lion. Out of those, the only ones I haven't seen are The Molly Maguires, The Name of the Rose and The Wind and the Lion. I can't make the Molly Maguires screening, but I can catch the screenings of the latter two. Finally, I will reach 30 Connery films watched, and in fact I'll get to 31.

This is the first and maybe the last time in my life in which I'll watch so many movies in a theater in close succession. I'll probably be vomiting by the end. No matter.

Of the 3 Connery movies you haven’t seen, 'The Wind and The Lion' is most certainly the best of them, a rousing action/adventure movie directed by John Milius, 'The Name of the Rose' is good too, with Our man Sean plsying a Sherlock Holmes type, solving a mystery in a monastery of grotesque characters!

This may not be available at all locations, but the Alamo Drafthouse here in New York is screening GOLDENEYE as part of an "old-school" gaming series in late May. From the website:

LEVEL UP WITH THIS SERIES OF FILMS FOR GAMERS BOTH YOUNG AND YOUNG-AT-HEART
Sure, movies are our bread and butter, but we have a deep love for video games too. That's why we've (ahem) programmed Press Start, a series of movies celebrating all things 8-bit, 64-bit, and beyond. These films deliver a nostalgic retro-blast direct to your senses that's as satisfying as getting the high score on Double Dragon – without getting your palms sweaty.

Other films in the series include WARGAMES and THE LAST STARFIGHTER.

    https://drafthouse.com/nyc/movies/press-start

Also, for those of you in the Chicago (US) area, on May 17th, Raymond Benson will be introducing a 60th Anniversary screening of “FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE” at the Pickwick Theater.
