Very happy to not be involved in a controversial discussion on here for once. I completely missed whatever happened, not going back now.

Just coming in to say that I'm intrigued by Glass Onion, but I find the voice so jarring still. Maybe it's because I grew up in the U.S. South.. but it's hard for me to accept Craig's character despite otherwise enjoying the first movie. I had the same problem with Logan Lucky, to be fair..

That conversation has melted my brain.

We're all just ever so confused.

It's kind of interesting that Craig has latched on to an American southern accent in his post-Bond career. Really trying to distance himself from the role I guess.

I don't know how to explain it but watching Craig do a southern accents feels like me trying to speak french. Like he's struggling to get it out.

I could support that. It does make me think that his next Star Wars movie(s) are still off for a bit.

Meanwhile, here are some interesting articles about DC and Skyfall.

Dan's never been great with accents, tbf. The Scottish, er, 'Scottish', accent he adopted for The Ice House was particularly boggling! It's not his fault with Blanc, though - the Southern accent was Rian Johnson's idea. Dan said he was so unsure that he actually queried it, but that's what Johnson wanted, so...

And we know how much Rian Johnson likes to push the envelope with making people uncomfortable, (Mark Hamill) lol.

There's a funny little clip of Don Johnson describing Craig's Southern accent in Knives Out as 'syrupy' and 'brave'. Which isn't wrong.

To be fair, I never saw it as an attempt to do an authentic Southern accent per say. There's a sort of cartoonishness to Blanc so the exaggerated accent works well. Same for Craig's character in Logan Lucky. I can see why Johnson's instincts led to that.

I can understand and respect what they're going for, it just doesn't work on me. Maybe one day with a rewatch it'll click.

Yeah I think it's fun; I agree that the staginess and artifice is part of the charm. It's quite a tongue in cheek performance.

It's kind of funny that this is now a film series and he has to keep the accent going for at least three films in total.
Re-watching the first one, I am almost convinced, the accent is just there as a joke to pay-off his character introduction. He just sits there, plays one note on the piano now and again and we wait and wait and wait for JAMES BOND to say something in this New England-Gothic-Murder-She-Wrote-Agatha-Christie-Whatever-Whodunnit and then he finally pipes up and he has this ridiculous southern drawl and from then on out it just gets weirder and weirder.

    :)) Cool.

I like how Craig is really leaning towards comedy more and more so after Bond. He's got good comedic timing, and I think it's something that became more apparent after Logan Lucky.

Looks like he had a blast shooting that ad, and yes, he looks fantastic as usual.

I gotta say, now that his run is done, I'm more excited than ever to see what he does next.

Dave Bautista says Daniel Craig wasn’t “the happiest person” as James Bond on ‘Spectre’ compared to ‘Glass Onion’:

It’s cool that they got to work together again. Too bad about the pressure Craig must have been feeling on Spectre, but also he probably wasn’t filming Glass Onion with a broken leg!

Yeah I was thinking that doing action scenes with a broken leg probably wouldn’t make me too cheery either.

He's turning into a camp icon and I'm all here for it.
(I'm a bit disappointed that he never got to/wanted to go there with his Bond, really.)

Yeah something about it feels a bit cynical to me, and perhaps not all that fresh ideas-wise. Plus I have an increasing aversion to Taika Waititi, and I couldn't help but notice he contrives to get his face into it. But it's just an ad I guess.

I was watching this video without sound and there were times when I was hearing "Goodbye Horses" in my mind. ;-)

I've greatly enjoyed Daniel Craig for a long time and respect him for how he conducts himself and his personal life.

That was not Daniel Craig. As noted good to see him enjoying himself.
