    I have a soft spot for North Sea Hijack. Anthony Perkins as the big bad. He would have made a great Bond villain imo.

    I like this movie too. I want to see it again. Roger Moore's character is rather mesmerizing to watch. The story is interesting and as I remember it, much of the film is about procedure: studying the oil rig, planning the assault, etc. That's cool. And Perkins could have been a good Bond villain. Somehow I see him as Safin, interestingly enough.

    It sort of is about that, but then Roger's character is also proven to be absolutely terrible at planning, despite being incredibly smug about it! He hides for most of the final assault and then even knocks the guy in his brigade with the detonators overboard at the end despite that fella being essential to the plan! :D
    Also, regardless of what the film may tell you, there absolutely is a specialist part of the armed forces which is ready to deal with threats to the oil industry in the North Sea and there long has been: the Government certainly wouldn't draft in some mad drunk whose fat old 'fusilliers' who just about manage to beat the local judo club(!) in practice manoeuvres.
    That said, I do love the film :)

    ffolkes (as it was known in the U.S. where I live) or North Sea Hijack, may be my favorite non-Bond Moore movie. I made a point of seeing it on cable when it came out. I liked his playing a character whose personality is opposite the typical suave, womanizing type he played in non-Bonds in that period like The Wild Geese or Shout at the Devil. Although the producers tried to make it appear like a Bond movie with the poster art having him in a Bond-like pose. And why wouldn't they want that association?

    Also if you look at photos of Moore when MR was released you can see he has the ffolkes beard as he was likely filming around that time.

    The Wild Geese is my favourite non Bond Roger Moore movie.It proves that Roger could convincingly play a hard bastard when he wanted to.It would have been interesting if he had played Bond that way but the light hearted approach suited him.

    Although it’s often forgotten that there were some very dark and tough scenes Moore did play throughout his Bond run.Heck,NTTD pretty much ripped off the scene where he booted Locque off the cliff in FYEO.

    There is a Saint thread,but it was opened to discuss the latest tv movie, which narrows everything down too much. I see this a lot here, pointed topics that could be broadened to allow for more general discussion.
